Why is Valverde still manager?

Coaches at both Barcelona and Real have been sacked for less in the past. The situation is becoming unattainable and they’re “lucky” the troubles are going on in Catalonia where the club has been relegated to insignificance right now. The next game at the Camp Nou should be interesting from the fans perspective.

The only problem is, who would go in now? There aren't any managers out there who are available. It woukd also make their job much harder now the season is well underway.

It's something that should have been addressed in the summer.

It was another let off really as Real, Atleti and Sevilla all failed to win last night, keeping Barcelona top the league, unless Granada beat Real Sociedad tonight. Saying that if la Real win then they themselves will be joint top on 22 points.

The players kept Valverde in the job mate and one has to ask themselves the question, why?

there are various names being mentioned for the job, one of them being Ronald Koeman who has a clause in his contract that if Barça come knocking the KNVB have to let him go.

The problem is, the timing. A manager coming in right now will have it much tougher than he would have had he had a proper pre-season to assess his squad, etc.

There’s not much to assess although I know what you mean mate. That is a bloody great squad of players. There are no excuses for the football they’re playing and without taking some results into account.

No chance Koeman will leave right now.

You really don’t think so?

No not now, he has been busy speaking to young players who have dual nationality in the last few weeks, getting them to commit to the The Netherlands.  I cannot see him doing all this work then suddenly leaving, even though we could probably put another decent coach in charge of the National team but Koeman seems to be in his prime doing this job like it was made for him.

All of this is obviously hypothetical as nothing is concrete on anything. But we mustn't forget that Barcelona is his ultimate dream job and everyone knows this. I remember Roy Makaay during a radio show in Spain some years back stating that everyone in Dutch football knows that he went into coaching just so as to hopefully one day become the Barça head coach.

Apparently Koeman himself admitted today that he has a clause in his contract with the KNVB that he can leave in 2020 cutting his contract short only if Barça officially come knocking on the Dutch federation's door.

Yeah he will probably get to coach them but If he goes there it be after the Euros. No way he will leave mid season with a tournament coming up next year.
