Guest
This past weekend, given the largest power blackout in Venezuela's history, the players refused to play the Monagas - Caracas game. The 2 teams walked out on the pitch and once the whistle was blown, didn't move a muscle. Today, the league was suspended at least until the power is sorted. However, if the situation gets worse, and a civil war begins, the league could be suspended until everything is sorted. It wouldn't surprise me. I said this on Twitter but I can see their football taking the route of Ukraine. Their big clubs will begin to fold (just as Metalist and Dnipro did) and there won't be a league to qualify for the Libertadores. If that happens, I think the Mexican clubs should be allowed back in, if they are willing to that is.
Guest
This piece summarizes perfectly what I think could happen to Venezuelan football. Happened in Ukraine, as I mentioned. https://thesefootballtimes.co/2019/03/14/the-fall-of-fc-dnipro-from-the-2015-europa-league-final-to-the-amateur-leagues/
