  1. On another note, it must have been a crazy experience for some of the Dominican Republic players to play against Spain at the Olympics. Especially since some of their players like Peter Federico and Óscar Ureña were born and raised in Spain.
  2. It looks like the Dominican Republic were able to bring in Peter Federico for their Olympic team. They also brought in Óscar Ureña. In their first game, they drew 0-0 with Egypt. In their second game they lost 3-1 to Spain. Their next game is against Uzbekistan. I think them even making the Olympics is a big accomplishment. I expected the USA to be there but not the Dominican Republic. I am surprised they made it over Mexico and Canada.
  3. Heat was always going to be a problem. They were playing in the US in the middle of the summer. The problem with pitches is that they were using NFL stadiums. Many NFL stadiums use artificial turf. At Copa América, some stadiums were natural grass, but several had artificial turf, in which layers of temporary grass had been laid over the field.
  4. Yes, I believe the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami has a capacity of around 65,000. I believe all NFL stadiums have capacities of over 60,000. MLS stadiums are much smaller in comparison. The Chase Stadium that Inter Miami CF plays in has a capacity of around 21,000. There are five stadiums in the USA that are called home by both an NFL football team and an MLS soccer club. These are the following: Gillette Stadium Bank of America Stadium Mercedes Benz Stadium Soldier Field Lumen Field
  5. Shaffelburg is 24, and is actually older than Davies, who is 23. David is 24, so I think that Canada has potential and could be good for a while. I think Venezuela also has potential and has a good chance to qualify this time around. They are currently 4th in qualifying for the 2024 FIFA World Cup.
  6. In my opinion, the Euros do not matter as much as the FIFA World Cup. Qualifying for the FIFA World Cup should be the main priority for every team. Italy won the 2020 Euros, but they have not qualified for the last 2 FIFA World Cups.
  7. At this point, the tournament was being held every four years starting from the 2007 edition. But Copa America has historically never followed a consistent tournament schedule. From 1987 until 2001, the event was hosted every two years in rotation by the 10 members of the confederation. From 2001 to 2007, however, it was changed to occurring every three years. Even prior to 1987, the tournament oversaw a massively erratic schedule. Most tournaments were held every four years, but a handful were held every two years, every other year, and some back-to-back. From 1967 to 1975, there was an eight-year gap between editions.
  8. In short, CONMEBOL – the governing body of South American football – announced in 2018 that they wanted to change the competition calendar so that Copa America would be held the same year as the Euros, starting from 2020 onwards.
  9. The Copa America is held every 4 years, although for different reasons, in the last decade there have been several exceptions to that rule. One of those involved the holding of the Copa America Centenario in 2016, just a year after the competition was held in Chile.
  10. Personally, I feel like qualifying for the FIFA World Cup should be the main priority for Venezuela. They are the only CONMEBOL side to have never qualified for the FIFA World Cup. Italy won the 2020 Euros, but they have not qualified for the last 2 FIFA World Cups. Chile won the 2015 and 2016 Copas, but they have not qualified for the last 2 FIFA World Cups.
  11. I do not think this was the most important match in Canada's history. They have been to the FIFA World Cup before. The FIFA World Cup is more important than the Copa America. Venezuela has never qualified for the FIFA World Cup. They did finish 4th in the 2011 Copa America. Also, I do not think that Venezuela is more talented than Canada. I think that Davies and David are both talented players.
  12. Canada won on penalties. Them making it to the semifinals is a good result for them.
  13. Panama won against the USA. That was a big result for them. They should be able to beat Bolivia and advance. This was a very bad result for the USA. Also, Venezuela looks like they might top their group. Them beating Ecuador and Mexico were big results for them.
  14. Recently, the US lost 5-1 to Colombia. Mexico lost 4-0 to Uruguay. Both Colombia and Uruguay look good. The US and Mexico look bad.
  15. I also believe that now the US seem to be prioritizing Nations League over the Gold Cup.
