  1. Have a Huawei P10 Lite. I'm not a big cell phone user or any of these social media things so can't say much about it. It's good for texting, taking some pictures during hiking/camping and I use a couple of apps (FitNotes for gym and a beer app to remember new beers I liked), but that's about all I do with it.

  2. Night and day the way we're playing so far again after Jupp's return. We need someone with his old school and no nonsense approach to take over at the end of the season. Not all the problems are fixed on the pitch yet obviously, but what a change. Also like Jupp's back to more traditional values approach in how he manages the players in training and off the pitch. Team meals and common sense approach to nutrition, cell phone ban (Alaba must be sufferingxD), rigorous and well-rounded training, respect to fellow teammates and everyone within the Bayern family. Love that he banned the "health bars" that Ancelotti's son-in-law was supposedly feeding the teamxD. The more gets revealed upon Jupp's return the more we get the sense how ridiculous things truly had gotten.

The way his posts are phrased make it seem like it is Pep's fault that Bayern have been playing poorly the last few months...

Don't even bother, dude. Korab's been spouting nonsense on TFF and other forums for years. At this point it's clear he's either a dedicated troll or a total basket case. Pretty much none of his posts can be taken seriously and there's no point in attempting any kind of genuine conversation with him. Sometimes he can come out with some real doozies (especially in the BVB thread) that are good for a laugh, but that's about it.

  4. Yeah the minute they showed the replay I was pretty sure the best case scenario would be a pretty nasty meniscus tear. When I saw he couldn't even put any weight at all on it when he was being carried back figured it was probably worse. The times I've torn mine my leg felt like total rubber but could still manage a pathetic slow hobble...Ribéry couldn't even manage that. Feel really bad for him, but he really needs to know when to call it quits. It may be tough for him to admit, but at 34 with constant injuries its time to move on. Every time he recovers its only a matter of time before the next issue arises like clockwork.

  5. Good article from Bavarian Football Works about the present situation after today's draw:

    Quote

After the drama that has surrounded Bayern Munich all week, they desperately needed a win against Hertha BSC. They didn’t. Instead what they got was a dysfunctional performance, at times dominating and at others woefully inept as Bayern blew a 2-0 lead halfway through the second half, earning a 2-2 draw against Hertha BSC.

My name is Javi Martinez, you killed my father, prepare to die

The first 45 minutes of the match against Hertha BSC were as dominating a defensive performance as we’ve seen from Bayern Munich in many a year. At the center was Javi Martinez who returned to defensive midfield. In partnership with Jerome Boateng and Mats Hummels, the more mobile Martinez was inimitable. He harassed and harried Hertha BSC for much of the first half, winning balls time and again and launching attacks forward. This was a brief glimpse of the Martinez-led Bayern Munich defense that won them a treble five years ago.

However for all their strength in the first half, their early second half performance belied a partnership that was green. When Hertha was able to get behind Martinez, Tolisso’s poor defensive showing exposed Boateng and Hummels who tried to compensate. Genko Haraguchi’s slalom run through the entire Bayern defense en route to Hertha’s first goal was proof enough of a set of players lacking familiarity with their positional relationships.

As Thiago ticks, so too does the Bayern Munich midfield

Despite Bayern’s showing in defense, their midfield still left a lot to be desired going the opposite way. Corentin Tolisso while solid in distribution was poor in playmaking. Too often he would shuttle play out to the wings quickly or attack into wide spaces on the dribble. This left Thomas Müller as the sole arbiter of attack in midfield.

When Thiago came on for Arjen Robben, it breathed new life into the Bayern midfield. They found themselves creating wide with Tolisso and driving through the center with Thiago while Martinez anchored the defense. They roundly controlled the game from that point forward, but without any offensive punch wide, Bayern struggled mightily to get the ball in front of goal.

It’s time to pull the plug on Arjen Robben and Franck Ribery

This is definitely indelicate given the serious injury Franck Ribery picked up in today’s match, but it’s time to say their careers are over. Arjen Robben was a shell of a performer today, always behind the ball, two steps too slow to break Marvin Plattenhardt. He notched just a single shot and just a single touch inside the box all game and this has been par for the season. How much of Arjen Robben’s form under Pep Guardiola there remains to be resurrected is something we could wait and never see materialize.

Robben’s decline over the past year hasn’t been done any favors by the strife and training practices that developed under Carlo Ancelotti. A new coach needs to mean a clean break and making it clear that he will be a supporting star should be paramount for Bayern Munich. How Bayern do that when they sold Douglas Costa and just lost Franck Ribery is the next question.

Which brings us to the matter of the Frenchmen. Ribery was Bayern’s only bright spot in the offensive third today. The remaining question isn’t whether he still has something to offer Bayern, but whether Ribery will ever be able to play soccer again given the potential severity of the injury.

Where does Bayern Munich go from here?

A performance coming four days after a coaching change and coming on the heels of a gruesome 3-0 loss, typically doesn’t carry much connotations for the future of a club. In this case it does.

The strife between Carlo Ancelotti and the players largely centered around their older core. And that older core floundered today under Willy Sagnol. This was a statement match for the likes of Ribery and Robben that they could still hang. This was their referendum.

    It failed.

What they brought was bad offense, the worst Arjen Robben performance I can ever remember, a gruesome knee injury to Franck Ribery, and a jekyll-and-hyde defense. Whenever Bayern Munich actually get around to announcing a new coach, it has to be in conjunction with a major shakeup of this team’s identity and a new phase of their story.

Mostly agree with it. Disagree a bit about the point about Thiago. Not so much about his importance to the team because he surely is important to us, but as far as his role today. "Control" would not be the first word coming to my mind when talking about the second half of the match. We lost any control we had after Duda's response to Lewy's goal. After that we looked totally disorganised across the board with little to no redeeming features after that point.

Not sure what to think about the coaching situation. Keep seeing unofficial confirmations on twitter that Tuchel is taking over. I'm of two minds if that's the case. There's no doubting he's a talented coach and could solve many of our problem, but could also be more like throwing water on a grease fire with team mentality and morale being what it is now. Let's see.

  6. ^Not sure how much I buy that "what about Müller" argument. If anything, Draxler could have been a very solid solution to our winger woes, particularly on the left where Thomas has rarely ever played anyway. Ribéry is fit now, but for how long is the ever present question. There's Coman as well who can play on the left and he's not shabby at that, but looking at our injury track record the position is still quite thin. If that was the supposed main reason for not signing Draxler, it's surprisingly ill considered.

Anyway, in other news I'm glad we've finally loaned out Sanches. We'll see what happens.

  7. Jesus christ what rain coming down the last 15 or so of the match! Players looking like drowned rats out there, but looks like the pitch is holding out thankfully. Feel sorry for both Ulreich and Leno though in that downpour. Nice goals from the two new boys Süle and Tolisso! Seems like Ancelotti didn't want to choose between Tolisso and Vidal afterall...though other than his assist Vidal hasn't done much good. That said our front line is looking sharp as fuck. Hopefully that hit on Ribéry didn't do much damage though.

Was honestly expecting Leverkusen to put up more of a fight. Given their performance last season I figured they'd be keen to start the new season on a more promising note than this. A few decent attacks, one where we were saved by Kimmich and another where we were frankly lucky, but otherwise well we're steamrolling them a bit and wouldn't be surprised to see more goals in this one for us.

Well from what i read it was a 2 year loan for €5m per with an option to purchase for €40m at the end. If you look at it like that i kind of understand with inflation the €40m in 2 years time could be peanuts hell even now it kind of is for the fees being paid. If they really wanted to offload him then it would have been done. Well see how the year plays out for him and if KHR was just full of air talking about him getting more playing time and whatnot. I just dont see a spot to honest is my concern, Rudy's been as i expected very solid so far in pre season; pretty much Sanches is at the back of the line the way things stand as i see them.

From what I've seen on twitter KHR is still admitting that it'll be hard to give Sanches much time this season given our present midfield. He doesn't seem to be entertaining much illusions from the latest statements. I wouldn't be surprised if he turned out to be yet another 5 minute golden boy. Would rather place Dorsch and Benko ahead of him. Kid just rubs me the wrong way and after the Euros never really made a good impression anyway. We've dumped decent German/academy youth in the past who would have been worth spending more time on than him.

Anyways, for today's match I honestly thought Thiago would be back. He's been back in team training since end of July and all the info seemed to suggest it wasn't serious. But seems to keep dragging out. Boateng, Neuer, Thiago, James, Martinez and Bernat all still out injured for the match today.

Bild is predicting: Ulreich - Kimmich, Süle, Hummels, Alaba - Rudy, Vidal - Robben, Müller, Ribéry - Lewandowski

Think Tolisso deserves to start over Vidal though. He and Rudy have been doing well together. Also think we should try starting Coman over Robben. And really hope that's our starting defense with no Rafinha.

  9. Ugh, apparently we rejected an offer of 50 million from Milan for Sanches, one year loan with option to buy the only option. Blows imo. I really didn't like his attitude last season, we don't need more of that shit on the team. Its too bad Benko was injured for a good chunk of our pre-season, would have been great for him to get the chance to show what he can do now. I remember last year he was looking so promising when he got the chance and he's older now plus can also play on the wing.

That isn't funny at all. Seeing is believing and most people don't see outside their bubble. What an incredibly cynical and assumptive point of view. You literally  know nothing of Juan Mata and yet you sit on your high horse and judge him as transparent and phony. I'd wager his 1% per week is more than a lot of members on this forum combined have given to charity in their lives. I don't do fucking shit for charity but at least I don't sit behind my computer and lambast someone for doing something even if it is relatively small for what they are worth.

As I said earlier the lack of statement regarding other charities doesn't mean he doesn't do other charity work. Even a toddler understands what object permanence is, just because it isn't seen doesn't mean it isn't there.

Fucking complain about anything. If you were starving and given a loaf of bread you'd complain that it isn't two loaves.

Yeah, it is probably more than a lot of members on this forum have given because I'd wager most members of this forum make nowhere near what he makes... I currently work for two non-profits myself and frankly it gets tiring to see the kind of tokenistic bullshit wealthy people like to do just to make themselves look/feel better. I also think its a bit bullshit to constantly expect poor people to be eternally grateful for whatever table scraps the wealthy throw to them for their own egos. Its also a matter of understanding the politics of non-profit organisations, who major donors are, who grant providers are, essentially where the money comes from and how the direction of such an organisation has more to do with wealthy or governmental stakeholder interests than the interests of those they're supposedly serving. An organisation like streetfootballworld is all well and good, but there are very real reasons why people roll their eyes at these kinds of "gestures". In an industry that just saw a nearly 200 million Euro player transfer, that's ripping up any kind of fan ownership left, right and centre, that doesn't seem much interested in restricting wealthy owners, corporations etc. in continuing to turn the sport into their own personal playground, this 1% of wages to football charities thing...I'm sorry but it's naive at best and pure publicity at worst.

  11. I find it funny that these guys have to go to India to somehow get some kind of epiphany on the levels of poverty that exist and are growing in the world, not to mention their own nations. Globally, wage inequality is well on the rise meanwhile players are making rapidly increasing amounts of money, not to mention the money in general being moved around the industry. The degree to which some of these guys are out of touch with current reality is sad really. If he were really so "shocked" by poverty you'd think it'd be worth more than 1% of an otherwise gargantuan salary. And even outside the salary when you consider the free cars, clothes etc. through sponsors. I'm not sure that this is any sort of noble effort, even if he did manage to make a change that resulted in every player giving a mere 1% of their massive salaries to charities, non-profits, whatever. Don't think players, just like celebrities, should be congratulated for these transparent publicity stunts.

  12. So Holger has signed with Stuttgart. Good move I think. I just hope he'll be able to stay fit this time and that it'll end up being the place where he can get his career slowly back on track again. The few moments when he wasn't injured with us over the last few years he showed that he's still a great defender. He definitely deserves to catch a break for once.

    Also from todayxD:

Welcome back Tristan! Good to have you here.

    Thanks!

What is everyone else up to this weekend? Was going to go to an out of town beer festival but unfortunately the plans had to change last minute. Hope to hit up a local one in a couple weekends though.

  14. A lucky win for us, especially with the own goal. Will gladly take the win, but hope it doesn't give Carlo nor the players a false perception.

MotM between Kimmich and Ribéry for me. Both of them gave everything today. Our midfield was dozy as hell though. Rudy and Tolisso stepped it up a little bit in the second half, but Vidal was just shit. We're clearly not quite ready to go yet and feel like our midfield is a problem area right now. We definitely need Thiago back. Vidal should have been subbed off early, but then again you have guys like Sanches come on and its not exactly much better.

Quality goal that was, Lewandowski should have done better with his chance though, I get what he was trying to do but you've got to shoot there. He's been made to pay by his opposite number and now Dortmund's tails are up.

Agreed, he had more than enough time and really should have taken it. Even if he didn't take the shot himself, there was more than enough time for a better set up. Very lazy and any other day could easily have cost us the match.

Sounds exciting mate, I've been impressed with this opening ten minutes of the second half.

It's so good to see Ribery back too, he must feel like a new signing for you lot.

Yeah there was a time I thought he was misguidedly postponing retirement, it was always one thing after the other. But it's been great to see him back in form again!

And yeah, happy to see Süle come on as well. I was really happy when we signed him, great defender that I've always liked. Kind of been confused to see some fans acting like he isn't "good enough" for us.

    Tolisso livening up a bit.

    Blame @Tsubasa

I lost track of time so I'm only just tuning in now, how's things looking between the two?

Pretty even so far. Dortmund came out pretty strong early in the first with Pulisic robbing Martinez to score out of the blue. Partially Martinez up to his old tricks again as cb, but great work by Pulisic nevertheless. Our goal was pretty sweet too with Kimmich gunning after his own header to cross it into Lewy.

Thats good to hear hope all is well. Status quo for me, excited to go on my first vacation in a few years in the fall, thats about it!

No he will come next summer is what the agreement is all about, it just cant be made official until Jan as its concidered tampering/tapping whatever you want to call it unless they have 6 months left on their contract (currently he has 1 year) So he will be an addition for next summer, which i think works out perfectly give him another year as a guranteed starter and keep progressing. Especially with a worldcup year coming up it gives him some extra seasoning and motivation.

Früchtl has been very interesting. Theres been alot made of him for along time but i think your right the future looks very bright for the kid and hopefully he keeps progressing. It feels like its been a while since we've had an academy product break through.

Cool, going anywhere exciting? Haven't been able to do much traveling at all in a while either beyond camping trips and that sort of thing.

Ah ok, for some reason I'd thought I'd read otherwise. But even so it still works out very well for us.
