ScoRoss Posted July 23, 2022 Posted July 23, 2022 Final round of League Cup group stage matches this weekend. Quite a few shocks so far in the competition, with Premiership teams Hibernian, St Mirren and St Johnstone already out of the competition. Meanwhile, League 2 Annan Athletic have secured first place in their group and a place in the knockout rounds. Unfortunately, after not qualifying for Europe for the first time since the group stages have began, it's been the first time Aberdeen have had to play in them. Three games, three victories, and three clean sheets have been the perfect start to the competition. A modicum of revenge is hoping coming tomorrow, after Raith Rovers knocked Aberdeen out of this competition last season.
ScoRoss Posted July 24, 2022 Author Posted July 24, 2022 Goals are just better when they clatter in off the crossbar. Another game. Another win. And another clean sheet. Maybe not the greatest performance, but it's been fine preparation to the season to come. Drawing Annan, was by far the best draw to hope for. Just wishing they could sort it out and not dictate that half the seeded teams play at home and half play away. Seems a bit stupid.
