I remember him being quite technically gifted when he surprisingly signed for Hill City after being released from Liverpool. Quite sad in a way he's being remembered as nothing more than a brute that gave 110%. However there was a time when he looked like he would be on downward route which ends in him jumping off the football pyramid altogether (2011/12?) So this ending deserves a celebration 

Midfielder John Welsh will be leaving Preston North End this summer, the club has announced.

The 34-year-old has been with the club for six years and made 139 league appearances, but only has five starts this season.

Welsh captained the team to a fifth-place finish in League One in 2013/14 and was a crucial part of the side that won the play-offs and promotion to the Championship the following season.
