Eco Posted May 31, 2019 Posted May 31, 2019 Quote Bucchi leaves Benevento After throwing away a strong lead in the promotion play-offs, Benevento and their Coach Cristian Bucchi have decided to part ways. Le Streghe and Bucchi reached an agreement to part company this afternoon, not renewing his contract after just one year. The 42-year-old former Sassuolo tactician joined Benevento last summer and oversaw a third-place finish in Serie B on 60 points, missing out on automatic promotion, but qualifying for the play-offs. The disappointment of their play-off semi-final defeat to Cittadella, where they won the first leg 2-1 away only to lose the decider 3-0 on home turf, was believed to be the catalyst. President Oreste Vigorito and sporting director Pasquale Foggia will now be on the look out for a new Coach who can ensure their return to the top flight. What a tough gig that is. I fully expect Empoli and Palermo to fight for the top two spots (assuming Palermo can get any consistency in ownership). Plus the other two teams that are heading down should do well next year.
