I think that kind of "superstar" CB might still be on our radar, we've got world class FB's, a world class CB in VVD and a world class keeper, another star CB would be great. I really rate Gomez and to a lesser extent Matip but we know now that we can't rely on either of them. I'm made up for Phillips though and hope he is a success, imagine going from the Championship one week to the Champions and Champions League the next, the stuff that dreams are made of and something to tell the grandkids in years to come.

Agreed. I'd love a new CB as much as any red, but I'm dead against us signing the likes of Sokratis for "no fee/high wages" in the hopes he just might be ok. At best he might be able to do a job better than Phillips or Henderson, at worst he would create unrest making silly money, kinda like Joe Cole when we signed him on a free.

From my experience optimists seem to enjoy supporting the club more so than the eternal pessimists. I really don't understand those who find negatives in everything we do (not suggesting this applies to you). Im on another chat site, there are always the usual suspects that hardly ever post when we are winning but seem to post all the time when things aren't going well. One in particular never has a good word to say, Crystal Palace for instance, his comment was that we were shite until we'd scored a couple of goals. ffs why do these people even bother?
