Don’t want much do ya

At the end of last summers transfer window though, it looked like you’d done ok on the face of it. Throw them all together though and it looks shocking now mate.

Just read through that and I have to admit, I didn’t realise things were so bad! Thats possibly the worst Everton squad I’ve seen in my football supporting lifetime which spans back to around 1985. You lot could actually be in trouble with that lot!

To be fair Klopp has only had 1 full season so far in which he got to 2 Cup Finals and into the top four. This season we look set to qualify from the group stages of the CL for the first time in something like 9 years, so progress is definitely being made. He has improved our squad (attacking wise) no end, we have one of the most sought after midfielders coming in the summer and if he can sort out the defence in the next couple of windows then I’m sure we are going to be a force to be reckoned with.

Apparently we have a deal agreed to sign Goretzka in January. Believe that when I see it. Him and Keita in our midfield would be insanely good.

They only qualified after winning their last match in which Mane re-injured himself. Anyway, pretty much standard that one of our best players comes back from International duty crocked. Happens near enough every time. I often wonder what it would be like to be able to field a full strength side, or even close to it.

And away from home it’s clearly not working.

I know stats aren’t the be all and end all but from watching every single one of our games my eyes tell me that away from home (and at home sometimes), our defence are left far too exposed, get put under too much pressure when broke upon, which leads to individual mistakes and poor positioning as they all scramble to cover each other. I think, especially away from home, we sometimes need to be smarter in our attacking approach. No need for both FB’s to be bombing on constantly at the same time and certainly no need for every midfielder breaking his balls to get into the oppositions box. In game management needs to improve as well. How many times have we blown leads in games we were in total control of by throwing players forward in a gung ho fashion when all we should be doing is seeing the game out? We do seem to be improving though and I think 1 or 2 astute signings and I little tweak of the tactics away from home should see us right.

It’s totally systematic. At home we have the best defensive record in the league (conceded 1) but away from home we have the worst (conceded 16) which points directly to flawed tactics when playing away from home.

He’s already agreed to join Juve by all accounts. We should have tied him down 18 months ago but it’s too far down the line now.

Nah, I’m pretty sure he’s had major issues with players at pretty much every club he’s managed. Yes he creates a siege mentality and everybody knows it.... but he’s still a massive twat.

Was about to say the same thing He needs to stick to what he’s good at.... like knocking the shit out of his Mrs.

We didn’t sign VVD because it was leaked he’d met Klopp in Blackpool before having permission to speak to him. If it was done the right way he’d be here. I’m not against Klopp at all, he’s by far the best we could get right now. But I’m sick of the blind faith that some have in him and that in some people’s eyes he can do no wrong. His game management isn’t great either. When we are behind in a game he’ll wait till the 75th minute before taking off our best goal scorers. When we are ahead he’ll not make changes yet will have us still bombing forward looking for another goal instead of closing the game out and controlling it. He needs to get a balance between attack and defence. Gung-ho just isn’t working. This is not Germany.

Then why not buy some then? Instead Klopp said he couldn’t think of 5 better CB’s that would improve us, VVD being one of them. Hes said he wanted Robertson because of his ability to get forward and put in dangerous crosses. Today Robertson has said that Klopp has told him to stop putting so many crosses in? Klopp said when he arrived that He’d followed Matip for years and was the first player he recommended to sign. Now look?!? What’s happened to him?

And this season is the worst goals conceded after 9 games since 1964. What’s your point? My point is that we haven’t improved defensively under Klopp at all in fact we are getting worse the longer he’s been here. I luv the guy, he’s a great coach attacking wise and a great man manager but come on, defensively he looks absolutely lost.

If Klopp insists on everyone bar the CB’s bombing forward at every opportunity then the personnel doesn’t matter. We will be exposed at the back and will concede goals.

They go for the same ball, Lovren gets turned whilst being shielded by Kane. It happens. Totally exposed down the flank again with all our mob in their half.
