Casemiro duely scythed him down with also the same venom Messi had used on him for the move...  An over the top physically aggressive move to stop Messi getting away.  That should've been the red card for Casemiro right then and end of.

No way was the first tackle a straight red if that is what you are referring to here. It was a yellow, but he should have gotten a second yellow (red) for the second tackle on messi.

Llorente done the same thing that same night where he left all his stuff in the dressingroom. Fernando Llorente refused to sign a new contract with Athletic because in his words "I'll retire from the sport if they don't let me go.  I can't take another season of that!"

There are other stories during that period like Muniaín calling in sick for Monday training three weeks in a row, Ibai Gómez hiding Bielsa's notes briefcase in his rucksack (he was dropped for two games for doing that).

looks like he is the man to set all the arsenal players right who are either lazy or way too  pampered by wenger

Well everywhere he's been after 5 or 6 months the players end up going mental and I tell no lie.  I've already told of the story where Javi Martínez while at Athletic Bilbao escaped screaming and cursing at 02:30 in the morning where Bilesa still had them in the dressing room at the training ground going over tactics and videos from Bilbao games in the 70's.  Martínez was spotted jumping over the fence in the training ground where the guard dogs stopped him until the night guards arrived.

    xD

The guy is a football guru and a cult figure within the game.  Few know more than him where this sport is concerned and none are as methodical as him.  But he runs his players to madness in the end and isn't a good longterm figure which is something the club should be searching for.

what exactly do you mean by running his players to madness mate?

  5. I wish Spurs were in the finals of FA cup instead of Chelsea because if Arsenal lose against Chelsea a majority of the fans will still be okay with him staying because chelsea are a champion team team who are going to win the league. If Arsenal beat Chelsea then again they will back him because he won a trophy. If it were spurs and if Arsenal were to lose then maybe the backlash against Wenger would be a lot stronger considering how strong the rivalry is with spurs.

  6. Was just browsing through the fixtures for the rest of the season and starting april 30th Arsenal are going to have the below ones.

    30/4 - Spurs away

    7/5 - Man Utd home

    10/5 - Southampton away

    13/5 - Stoke away

All very tough fixtures for Arsenal as Spurs are on the form of their life at home, mourinho will no way lose to wenger, southampton and stoke away dont have great memories for arsenal in the recent past, especially stoke away. So there are very very high chances to drop points in all of the above fixtures and actually might even lose all of them. I dont see a decent ending for Arsenal's season from here, its probably going to get ugly.

True, and good point. But subs take about 30 seconds. I don't think a minute is that bad an amount to get to the correct decision so your team doesn't feel cheated out of a victory

30 seconds only if your team is winning  but it will be much faster when losing

On a serious note, I dont know how that works but to me more than the video technology they should adapt the retrospective decisions like ruling out offside goals after the match and awarding bans/warning points for every dive a player makes, etc

    no it won't.

it hasn't killed rugby. it hasn't killed tennis. it hasn't killed cricket. 3 big sports that it helps out and 3 big sports that have profited from having video technology within the game.

I dont know about Rugby but you cant compare cricket and tennis to football mate. Cricket and tennis have  breaks between the plays but football doesnt. You cant review a play without breaking it for a minute which disrupts the flow of football.

Concentrating on Indian authors and trying to finish some local books.

Finished with 'The White Tiger' and as city (born and bred) lad to learn about Naxal-inflicted towns/village (darkness as he describes in the books) was gut wrenching. Us, urban folk, are largely unaware of those inner villages. I have noticed few incidents mentioned in newspapers from time to time, but reading about them in so much detail was an eyeopener. Therefore, have now started reading 'Hello Bastar: The Untold Story Of Indias Maoist Movement' by Rahul Pandita, and quite frankly its more tragic.

I missed this post and just read it now. I read Our moon has blood clots by Rahul Pandita which was fantastically written IMO and after reading your post I added  his Hello Bastar to my list.

Sorry, only saw this now, but thanks for recommendation! Any particular suggestions on which books I should try? No poetry please.

Other than The White Tiger, the only Indian literature I've read so far is Mahabharata, Ramayana, some of the Pali Canon, Rabindranath Tagore and Kama Sutra xD Also Salman Rushdie, if it counts.

Must read in my opinion... I read this in my local language few years ago but glad to know that they had this in english too... hopefully its translated well without losing the content...  autobiography-of-a-yogi-book-cover

Very few coaches have an inbred system mate. Athletic players are brought up on a more direct style of football and Valverde has had a job of harnessing that and not trying to change the players. He knows Barça and won't want to change it.

so are you saying he will not be playing the crossing game if he manages Barca? Hopefully you are right and he doesnt play that crossing game as la liga doesnt want two Zidanes competing for the title

Sampaoli being at Sevilla offers more competition oh the other hand, so in that sense it works out better. I'm honestly not sure about Valverde though and believe he could have done more than he has at Athletic(he's done well, just could have done a bit more for me), especially in the Europa league. Then again, he would have far more resources at Barcelona and more money to spend on areas he needs to strengthen. The downside to Athletic is that you're limited in who you can sign. He also believes in youth, likes to utilise them and his style of play is suited to Barcelona.

Doesnt he use wing play with lots of crosses? If yes, how does his style suited to Barcelona?

I don't mean this in a disrespectful way but it's ridiculous to say that the penalty system is no ''help'' for the keepers.

For starters, the goalkeeper's team is being punished so there shouldn't be any ''help'' given, that would defeat the object of punishing him in the first place. Second, the goalkeeper does home-work before every game on the penalties that the opposition has taken and has a few tools in his locker to try to make a save. The goalkeeper will study the striker's body language before the shot is taken and do anything possible to work out which way he is going to go, it's hardly as if it's a lottery.

they get a lot of help already by not being penalised for jumping off their line at penalties .

Adrian at West Ham is absolutely terrible for this.

Maybe this indeed is an unpopular opinion. But I would love to see penalties become a little more harder to score... in other words it would be better if the conversion rate is somewhat lower.

  14. Finished reading "our moon has blood clots" by Rahul Pandita which is about the exodus of kashmiri pundits in kashmir, India. Great book for anyone interested about that part of the world.

Right now Im reading My Turn by Cruyff
