Denmark will need to beat Australia in their next match if they want to have any chance of joining them. Denmark went so close to taking the lead with Braithwaite's close range shot from a cross, but his effort went narrowly past the near post and out. Mbappe ultimately punished Denmark for that miss, but the Danes battled well throughout the match. It was an improved performance from their first match against Tunisia, despite the loss. Denmark showed a lot of character to come back and equalise through Christiansen's header, after Mbappe had given the French the lead, but Mbappe's 2nd goal near the end of the match killed the contest.
