I think Switzerland come to these international tournaments with the sole aim of making it to the knockout stage.  I doubt the players expect anything more from themselves. I doubt the fans expect anything more. They look clueless out there. Their target has already been achieved. They can just go home happily now.

Precisely this. It's the same every tournament with them

The Copa America is held every 4 years, although for different reasons, in the last decade there have been several exceptions to that rule. One of those involved the holding of the Copa America Centenario in 2016, just a year after the competition was held in Chile.

It has been held for the most part every two years and since 90s pretty irregularly

Arnautovic's insult was towards a North Macedonian player and with Arnautovic's Albanian roots it was seen as a political or ethic insult. Bellingham's action was just stupid there were no political or ethic reasons in it.

Stupid but still insulting hence why he's not given off the hook fined and suspended just not during the Euros.

Learned UEFA withdrew Morata's yellow card, and therefore his ban from the semis! Without wanting a discussion whether that yellow card was or wasn't deserved/correct, wondering what happened to the holy cow ref's factual decisions on pitch were unchangeable, retrospectively?

That's odd. Uefa's decision on Bellingham also seems favouritism. He grabbed his crotch towards the Slovakian bench after scoring. A 'suspended' ban so he can play against Switzerland, just ban him for one game immediately if he did breached the conduct. If I'm not wrong last Euros some Austrian player also made obscene remarks against opposition and he was banned for the next game.

  5. A more fair bracket for this 24-team format for me. The bracket should be decided based on points in the group stages Team1 vs Team16, Team2 vs Team15 and so on. Spain were the top team with 9 pts so they should play Slovenia the lowest of the third-place teams and . Unless both teams were already in the group together.

  6. Indeed Ronaldo has a poor record at major tournaments but I don't agree with the notion that Portugal are that big of a team and they would go wow without Ronaldo.

They are a bit of lucky to not have missed a single tournament in recent times when England, Italy, Netherlands have all missed some tournaments over the years. As El Professor mentioned those playoffs vs Sweden, which is one of the many times they flirted with not qualifying and Ronaldo deserves credit for bailing them out in those qualifier matches quite a few times.

If not for the expansions I'm pretty sure they would've missed some international tournaments post-Ronaldo

Bellingham also penalized for obscene celebration vs Slovakia. Will play the Euros but suspended for one match.

Turkey is upset with this decision. While the two cases are not exactly the same but yeah if Bellingham did an inappropriate celebration and deserves a suspension it should be in the Euros like that Turkish player.

Conveniently forgetting to mention Quarters exist in Euro sinc 1996b, the Euro 2200 had no host and Belgium in 2000, Austria and Switzerland in 2008, and both Poland and Ukraine in 2012  failed to reach the quarters. Since introductiom of quarterfinals only 4 of 9 hosts did better than Germany.😄 Sounds a bit different to your narrative.😆

Bro I'm only mentioning what the commentators said.
