What a few weeks we have coming up. I'm not really that bothered about the Khan fight tonight but will probably have it on cos I'm in. From next week though it's going to be quality
15 Sept Golovkin v Canelo, 22 Sept Joshua v Povetkin, 28 Sept Groves v Smith
All PPV though... That would set you back approx £50 to watch boxing, at home, on the TV. Absurd.
GGG v Canelo is the best of the lot but £17 for a fight with no Brits in that'll start at 4am, I think BT have had a mare here. It surely won't do good numbers.
Khan's vulnerability always makes his fights interesting.

He was ok last season, not great. Being voted Southampton's best player last season is hardly something to be doing cartwheels over.
Who would you have ahead of him?

McCarthy had a great season and was Southampton’s Best player last season.

To be fair to him, he was no worse than Rashford.
I agree, but I currently rate Vardy higher than rashford so I have higher expectations for him.
-
I love Vardy but thought he was poor in the minutes he played for England at the WC. I know he didn’t play much but at the highest level you have to take your chance with limited minutes.
He’d still be my second choice though and way ahead of rashford.
-
Surprised and disappointed Vardy has 'retired'. He's comfortably our second best striker.

Been giving semi-serious thought to setting up a blog where I can chat shit about Everton and football in general. After all my time at university and finishing my Masters I realised that while I'm a mathematician I'm actually pretty good at writing. I even used to write match reports for my Mum on the Cambridge website sometimes when I was younger . The only things putting me off are how hard it is to get people reading and make sure it's not totally pointless and whether I'll be arsed committing time to doing it to a half-decent standard by the time school kicks off again.
I don't know, I enjoy writing and football so it seems like it might be worth a go just to see if it picks up interest but there's so many people out there doing a similar thing and people with YouTube channels which obviously appeals much more to a wider audience because of our collective lack of attention span these days that it might be a waste of time.
Any thoughts are welcome I guess.
I’m sure @Blue can offer some advice? Very experienced and successful Blogger, author etc.

Not trying to start anything, so I'll back away from it after this post, but I find it funny how Marc has +31 this month all being from 3 members (Storts, Teso and Cannabis, all melts aside from Storts funnily enough).
It's just an observation which I find hilarious.

Sky are saying Real value Courtois at 32m and stoke value Butland at 30m lol. Surely not

I found a near perfect stream as I have for every ITV event, they don't seem as good as sky at shutting them down. I had a small bet on Usyk points, but was worried when Chudinov got a robbery win on the undercard.
Masterclass, can't wait till he moves up to heavy. I'd make the giants of the division Joshua, Wilder and a fit Fury favourites against him, but still think he could get a points win. I think Usyk would beat the second tier of fighters that aren't massive punchers, Parker, Whyte, Pulev, Miller etc.

The add ons were very achievable ones such as CL qualification and a certain number of appearances.
The first offer Barcelona put in the add ons were far from achievable such as Coutinho winning the golden boot and him being the first footballer to land on the moon, that sort of thing. Needless to say the first offer was rejected.
And this has been confirmed by who? I highly doubt they’d put in an add on such as champions league qualification when they’ve qualified for every CL since it was created.

But Coutinho was 145m wasn't he. So we were in the black by 70m, plus the VVD fee was also made up by transfer fees from other players we had sold, him signing wasn't reliant on us selling Coutinho.
This is such a ridiculous argument anyways, I don't get the point being made? We as a club are not bankrolled by our owners, unlike City & Chelsea in the past. We spend our revenue, and even then the net spend per season under Klopp has been very low compared to our competitors. We have made progression under Klopp, whether you lot like to see that or not, and we've done it by being smart.
How was it 145m? What currency? Who confirmed this? Where’s the source?
it was widely reported as 105m plus add ins up to 146m

Exact money isn't the point though. You make good points but it's still fair to say Liverpool made a significant amount of their war chest by selling Coutinho and that the signings have had to be of a more consistent quality to maintain and improve the quality of the squad because they've sold key players unlike most of their main rivals.
But exact money is the point because when a Liverpool fan says they are still spending he coutinho money they are talking about 145m.
if coutinho was 105m and VVD was 75m then they only made 30m profit in that transfer window.
-
The net spend argument is flawed because it doesn’t take into account signing on fees and wages. It’s fag packet maths by idiots.
If you sell Coutinho for 105m and then buy 5 players with the ‘Coutinho money’ you pay signing on fees and wages for 5 players but only get one off your books. 100k/week is an extra 5m a year and probably a 4 year contract, signing on fees also? Fuck knows but probably a couple of million each player.
Also, which really annoys me but most transfers we don’t know the actual fee. The media report the highest number to make it sound more sensational.
For example wasn't coutinho reported as around 146m but it was also reported as. 105m rising to 146m? We don’t know what them clauses are and if they have or will be met.

The season before last (last years accounts not out yet) Liverpool had a higher wages to turnover percentage than Man City.
-
Liverpool still spending the ‘Coutinho money’. 20 years time they’ll still be rolling that one out

Usyk v Gassiev in the final of the World Boxing Super Series tomorrow night. All four cruiserweight belts up for grabs. What a fight this should be
It's one of the best fights that can be made in the sport, but really annoyed about the PPV. Boxing is just a ridiculous sport to follow.
Only the hardcore will buy it.

They put season tickets down 10% when we went down and froze prices for the first year back up. They've just increased season ticket prices 20%.
You could say fair enough if they went back up 10%, but 20% is taking an extra 10% at a time that tv revenue is at an all time high and probably millions more than the year we went down because we missed the first £100m minimum year by getting relegated.
Yeah 10% this year and 10% next year he might have got away with it, but a £100 increase is a lot of money for people.
It also seems very late to be announcing season tickets prices, i'm sure we do ours like March
