Your problem is that you think your 'expertise' gives you licence to speak like you know everything about football in any given place at any given time.

    Newsflash. You don't.

You're right, but I have a license to talk about this because it goes directly into recruitment and club operations. These are all analysis based. Shame you couldn't see it initially.

Putting in 'your two cents' means just giving your thoughts, expertise or not.

Claiming you have expertise on Liverpool's managerial shortlist doesn't mean you actually have it. You're just thinking of something and falling back on your experience of something that's not fully related and conflating the two.

Also, forum is dying so much you decided to come back. Makes sense. No doubt you'll claim that your presence here has saved it or that we needed you back xD

I should be able to say that if I want with no issues. I should be allowed to say "this is my expertise, so I wanted to put in my 2 cents" without being seen in a bad way. Your problem is that you see the word "expertise" and immediately think "arrogant" without reading the rest of the post. You interpret what you want to interpret.

  3. To end this off cos I gotta do stuff now, I want to make it clear that I only ever discredit someone if they start to. Im a very reserved person and nowadays try to avoid conflict. Just to keep it clear, if I ever get conflictive it’s mostly out of defense or frustration. Let’s keep that clear. My intentions with the expertise post was to put in my 2 cents.

If you want to ban me that’s fine it would do me a favour, but if I were to stay that needs to be understood otherwise it’s all pointless.

    have a good day lads.

Listen mate, I’m not discrediting the work you have done in football, whatever that may be. But you came in here like a runaway horse, and you discredited everybody’s arguments by just repeating that this is your “expertise”.

You have seen the mess that Gerrard made of the Villa job, and is now doing a very mediocre job out in Saudi Arabia. There is absolutely no chance in hell that we would give him the job off the back of that CV. Just accept that the likelihood of it happening is close to zero, rather than trying to win the argument. You now yourself that it’s not a reality.

I didn’t though, all I said was this is my expertise and I want to put in my analysis. I’ve read back the posts and I’ve had a sloppy word here and there, but my intentions are never to discredit anyone else.

Usually it only gets to that point if people unneedlesly start to insult me and tell me I’m clueless. As for the Gerrard thing, you are absolutely right that I don’t know if he is for certain, and if I knew behind the scenes I wouldn’t be here posting it. My basis was an analysis and the sort of things I know about how a lot of clubs tend to operate.

@Goku de la Boca you have been warned very recently by @Stan to stop calling people by that offensive term or you'll end up being suspended.

My advice would be to distract yourself with something else for a couple of hours before you find yourself removed from the forum.

Forum is dying mate, you can’t afford to ban people.

Go ahead, I am not here to be your punching bag.

Glad we've cleared that up. So when you've said over and over that Gerrard is on the list, you could have just said you don't know

You’re right, I can’t guarantee it. And I’ve said it in one of my posts.

I’ve had some sloppy words here and there but when I said this is my expertise, literally all I was saying was “this is my strengths so these are my two cents”. Never Insulted anyone until I got insulted and discredited 🤦‍♂️

  7. Just now, LFCMike said:

I mean it's probably closer to the truth than you knowing the inner workings of Liverpool's process of finding Jurgen Klopp's replacement

I’ve said so many times I’m doing an analysis, not that I know who is on the list and who will be the next hired

its not my fault anymore that I have to defend myself when I never spoke out of line and get insulted anyways.

@Rick DM me and I’ll send you my resume, do that or stop being a cunt.

Just because you scouted a couple of kids from the park for your Sunday league side, it doesn’t mean you have a single clue about what you’re talking about. Stop being an arrogant knobhead, and just admit you have fuck all knowledge of what will happen like the rest of us.

What a way to discredit someone who has worked at 4 clubs in 2 different countries. I’ll feed you what you want to hear: Gerrard isn’t coming, not even on an emergency list, and I’m a dumbfuck. Is that what you wanted to hear?

Personally I hope you never get work in this because I don’t want you to get the discredit all of us get in this industry.

Cunt. I was being as nice as possible to have a healthy debate.

It is a bit weird with former star players. Dalglish became Liverpool player-manager, which was reasonably fashionable in the 1980's. Lampard got the Chelsea job, twice, via not getting Derby promoted & struggling at Everton. Terry has not been considered after being only assistant at Villa. Ole was Man United manager, but not a Neville or Steve Bruce or Mark Hughes & likely not Rooney. And it seems unlikely Kompany will be taking over from Pep.

The former players may well all be keen to manage clubs they played for, but perhaps need that bit of luck, to be in the right place at the right time. If Gerrard had just won Rangers a 1st title in years, he would be right up there as a big favourite.

Pirlo at Juventus, Clarence Seedorf, Ryan Giggs, etc. There are a couple who had to work hard for it such as Zidane, Pep and Arteta, others who got it off the fly like Pirlo and Seedorf. These things can happen and I am pretty sure Gerrard is on the list. Whether he will be hired, I doubt it if Liverpool are smart. Even Manchester United have figured out that they shouldn't take in Rooney.

Connections aren't enough for this Liverpool job.

He's not on the list. I guarantee you as much as you can guarantee that he is...

It is if you're Gerrard though. We've seen more controversial appointments come up, Pirlo at Juventus my biggest example of this.

I do agree he won't be hired but he is certainly on that list in some way or another. Emergency of emergency at best.

I'd be very surprised personally. You'd have thought if Liverpool couldn't get their top 2 or 3 picks, even then he'd not be considered an option with what little he's achieved to date.

I'm pretty sure despite being a club legend, John Terry has never been considered as a Chelsea manager yet when the post has come up.

I could however see a scenario where if Xabi Alonso got it, he'd possibly ask Gerrard to be on his staff.

John Terry was never a manager as far as I remember. Frank Lampard was (or an icon at least), and he controversially got the job too.

Gerrard being an assistant is not a bad idea tbh, he could learn a lot from that. Managers don't have to stay as the lead especially if they are struggling to get a thing going.

  12. 4 hours ago, Rick said:

Gerrard will not be under consideration whatsoever, not even as an “emergency” option. What does that even mean, like Liverpool aren’t going to have the pick of the bunch when it comes to managers in the summer.

I can tell you don’t understand how databases work. Sure he won’t be picked but I can guarantee you he is on a list. Whether he makes it past the first phase or not is something else, probably very unlikely.

  13. Just now, Dr. Gonzo said:

I think it is that simple though. They’re not going to bring in Gerrard now even as an emergency option - I think aside from being not good enough, they respect him too much to bring him in to damage his legend status here.

They’re going to be looking at a long term replacement.

My point about it not being that simple had nothing to do with Gerrard, rather on the pull. Liverpool have more advantages but the pressure on both sides is quite big.

Klopp is not an easy manager to follow.

  14. 2 minutes ago, LFCMike said:

He won't be on the list. Liverpool are in a very good place squad wise and in terms of the foundations already in place for a new manager coming in. They have their pick of plenty of top managers.

He's on the list mate but like I said, he's very very low priority. He's pretty much only going to be on there because he's a connection they have and because the list is huge and doesn't just consist of 10 managers. Like you said they have their pick of plenty of far better managers, but Gerrard is on there because these connections count, whether he gets approached is another story and I don't think he will even be enquired.

  15. 1 minute ago, LFCMike said:

Exactly this. Liverpool will have the pick of almost any elite manager not currently in work and pretty much any manager in the tier below that, whether they're in work or not. A manager who was sacked by Aston Villa not long ago and is now struggling in Saudi won't be under consideration at all

I don't think it's that simple to be honest, Gerrard won't be hired I'm pretty sure of that, but I have my doubts they'll get a similar manager as Klopp the first time around, just because there is so much pressure on both ends. The board to follow up the managerial choice and thee manager itself to deliver, and I think SOME high profile managers might not be super interested (not all) just because it's a risky job to take. Regarding what Stan said, he's right on Liverpool having a pull. It would be many managers dream to manage them, but few will be good enough at this stage I think.

I have no clue on Xabi Alonso by the way, he looks like he's doing a good job at Leverkusen but I haven't seen them a single game this season so I can't speak for whether it's a fluke or they are genuinely sound tactically and motivation wise. If it's the latter, he might be realistic.

  16. Just now, LFCMike said:

I guarantee Gerrard won't even be under consideration

That is what I am saying, if all the options fail he'll be an emergency option.

All I said was he's on the list, but in football things can happen that switch plans around. It's very, very unlikely. Don't rule it out entirely. Like I said, databases are massive and have several phases. The only reason I can see Gerrard being considered at all is if their agents fail them which at this level of football I don't see happening.
