  1. What a win today against the Aussie. Both the semi-finals were great to watch.

    Harman's innings of 171 in 115 balls today, was one of the best I have seen. On to the final against England on Sunday.

  2. Just saw 'War Of The Planet Of the Apes.'

    I think the trailer and posters are terribly misleading. They imply about this great war between Apes and humans, when the movie is far from any war between the two species, apart from few skirmishes. This is more of a drama movie, with few actions scenes. But it's a damn fine drama movie. The story unravels beautifully and the characters (most of them) seem believable.

    I agree with @Lucas about the second half. I think it's largely down to Woody Harrelson's character. He is no where near as good as Koba who was played so brilliantly by Toby Kebbell. Koba had such a huge impact in the second movie, and he was the perfect foil for Caesar. And that, I felt, took some sting from this movie.

    Still, this is a really good movie -- a good drama movie -- may I add. Andy Serkis' portrayal of Caesar is awesome.

    From first hearing it, you can't help but feel the jealousy from Sansa towards Jon and the influence Baelish has had on her regarding the true lord in the north. Maybe a plot to have Jon killed? He is the lone wolf after all.

    That would be in incredibly poor taste and writing considering the amount it took to bring Jon back to life in the first place. And that would be far too predictable.

    Could mean a whole number of things but for me, that is the most likely.

    You are right.

    Saw the documentary on the making of last season today, and they elaborated on that point citing the look Sansa gives to Baelish, in the season finale (when Jon is announced as the king). The director of that episode explained how Jon being  basterd makes Sansa the true leader of North by blood.

    Now add that quote of Sansa's from the trailer, and we can expect a betrayal from Sansa, thanks to Baelish.

  4. Shastri back at the helm. All-round good appointment. Captain and the whole team is happy. But more importantly, Zaheer as the bowling coach/advisor seems like an even better appointment.

    @Messiesta

    Windies would also have a seriously good side, if they solve those contract disputes.

    I want to see this. Without giving too much away though, would you say this is better or worse than Drive? (which I loved)

    I loved Drive too. For me it was a unique movie. I had never seen anything like it (I went on to watch Thief, the movie from which it was inspired, much later). And Drive was unique. The style, the acting, the music and the story.

    Like I said above, apart from the concept of choreographing the movie to songs, nothing is original in Baby Driver. But, and it's a big but, this is an entertaining movie, if you ignore its few flaws. There are many scenes which will bring a wide smile on your face (it happened to me). I had a really good time, and I suggest you to watch it on the big screen, where I am sure you will have a good time too.

  6. Watched Baby Driver. Definitely over hyped. It is a fun movie, but apart from the concept of choreographing pretty much everything to music (which at times seems awesome and at times forced) the rest of the story, characters and action is strictly alright. A lot of things in the climax make no sense. But still, this is a really good movie. I had fun watching this.

    On a side note, Lily James' character reminded me of Madchen Amik's character from Twin Peaks.

  7. Anyone else here watching the women's world cup?

    Apart from the top teams, the rest unfortunate to say, look worse than school kids.

    On a lighter note. Afridi, after playing cricket for so many years, doesn't know that 'LBW' stands for Leg Before Wicket. Vintage Afridi.xD

    It was a mess, that hasn't aged (despite being from the nineties) well. The cringe inducing villain, the dialogues, the computer that objects cursing, Stallone's acting and that weird sex scene.

  9.

    Absolutely brilliant news this. I hope the world shows patience with them. But this is good for cricket to have two more Test playing nations.

  10. We have seen worse feuds in the team, this is nothing. Ganguly ( & most of the seniors) vs Chappell was way worse. Even Dhoni (while struggling overseas in Tests) going behind Gambhir's back and kicking him out of the team, because the board wanted to make Gambhir the captain, etc was also a worse feud. And these are just the recent ones. Back in the time, Sachin had problems with Azhar, Kapil and Gavaskar clashed, etc.

    Anyway, I have nothing against Kumble (he is legend), but he only got the job because the people choosing the coach were his best buddies (Sachin, Ganguly and Laxman). Ravi Shasri (who might again get the job) was doing a lovely job till then, and wanted to continue. Apparently his presentation was also superb, but Kumble got the job.

    I believe, that in cricket, the captain is more important than the coach. So, Kohli will get his way here, because he has shown himself to be a capable captain. And this is not new. Dhoni got Fletcher the job, because he wanted a 'yes man', which is what Fletcher was during his time with the team. At least, Shastri has shown to aid the captain and present good ideas (without being a yes man), instead of imposing his views on the captain. And like Kirsten (who was awesome) he was a good man-manager. I hope Shastri or Sanjay Bangar or even Lalchand Rajput get the job, over the others. Or maybe even Moody.

    Kohli should be more worried about Rohit Sharma and Ashwin, because there is going to come a time when Kohli might start to fail, and those two blokes might show an interest in captaining the side. Rohit has a done a terrific job with the Mumbai's IPL team. With Ashwin's failings in the limited overs formats, Rohit seems to be the biggest threat. And unlike Rahane (our current vice-captain and a quieter version of Dravid), Rohit is ambitious and vocal.

  11. T20 has transformed batting in the similar way ODI's did it in the late 70s and 80s.

    As for the Sehwag banter, I thought it was fun. If anything, he congratulated Pakistan, after the win yesterday. It's just that, subcontinental people (Indians included) have tender 'sentiments' that get hurt a little too often.

    Can the Americans keep out of the Cricket thread, please. :ph34r:

    @topic

    We still have the World Cup record. :ph34r:

    On a serious note, well played Pakistan. Totally outplayed us today. Have a blast, Azeem. Just go easy on the television sets :ph34r:.

  13. Mum, with a 'told-ya-so' grin on her face, has now accepted the TV's remote control from me. Well, her batch-mates from her astrology class were fairly certain of a Pakistani victory.

    Congrats @Azeem98. Well played, Pakistan.
