One thing Kohli should learn from Dhoni as a captain is look cool and relaxed  under pressure. Seriously he makes some weird faces sometimes.

Which is a rank improvement from the constant Madarchod Bhenchod flow from his mouth.

Though, on a serious note, Dhoni's passive captaincy had turned the side lazy in the last few months of his rule. Kohli's Ganguly like emotional display is a welcome change.

  2. Excellent performance from Pakistan so far. Our highest successful chase  record in England is 326 (the famous NatWest win), so we need something special here against one of the best bowling attacks.

    Pakistan favourite at this point.

  3. Fakhar was lucky initially, but has been brilliant otherwise.

Ashwin has been a huge disappointment. Bowling a terribly negative line despite being a senior bowler meant to take wickets. We would have been better served playing one of Yadav or Shami instead.

Need to chuck the ball to Yuvi or Jadhav.

  4. Good luck to your dad, @Stan

Mum's WhatsApp Astrology group is predicting a Pakistan victory. To be fair to them, they also correctly predicted Mumbai Indians victory in this year's IPL.

    Ah, well...

  5. That was too easy. Bangladesh, it seemed to me, were overawed by the occasion. They have some good players and are developing well as a cricketing nation, so future is bright for them.

Also, there are few batsmen out there, whose batting style is as beautiful as Rohit's. He is such a joy to watch with his lazy elegance.

Sunday is going to be absolute madness.

On a side note, read somewhere that Ireland and Afghanistan might be presented with Test status on 22nd. I hope it happens. It's the only way they can play more matches. Both those sides, esp Afghanistan, have showed tremendous potential. It will be shame if that is wasted. And if they get the approval, then I hope ICC shows patience with them. Look at Bangladesh. They took a lot of time to improve, but look at them now.

  6. I didn't like Oblivion, but Reacher was good (largely because of Pike), EoT was amazing and Mission Impossible movies have been good fun. Mummy seems to have been a train-wreck, but his movies have been good. Plus his upcoming movies - American Made and Luna Park sound really good.

  7. Going at a run-rate of almost 6, without pushing any panic buttons. This has to be the performance of the tournament so far, because it's come against the best side. And unlike South Africa, who shot themselves in the foot against India, England have not committed any errors today. They have simply been outplayed. This is why Pakistan are such a dangerous side. They can do this to the best on their day.

  8. Pakistan have bowled really well so far. They could restrict England under 280. But their weak batting could mess that chase as well.

On a side note, with all this talk about Ind vs Eng final, it would be utterly hilarious it we end up with Pak vs Bangladesh final.

  9. Brilliant all round performance by us, albeit greatly aided by suicidal running by the South Africans. It wasn't just the three run-outs (all of which were shambolic), but you could sense a run-out every time they took a single. I have never seen a side collectively run this bad between the wickets.

Back on us, I am happy to see Bumrah amongst wickets. He is very important to us, and it was nice watching him bowl fast and slow yorkers. The current setup looks more balanced. Ashwin showed his pedigree. Bangladesh wouldn't be a easy side to take on.

  10. Apparently, Roma have to sell a high value player to balance their books out before 30th June. So, we are going to wait until the very last moment to get the best deal. This is not a bad ploy, but I can totally see someone sneaking in and buying Salah for 25 mil, while we wait for the value to fall to 23 mil.

  11. Great performance by Morgan and Stokes. One of the finest partnerships I have seen in ODIs. It was a calculated assault. England clear favourites for the title now.

As for tomorrow, I am proper nervous. Should be a good match.

  12. He might not directly get involved in transfers, but when Tony Barrett starts his stint with the club, he might have a lot of useful pieces of advice for the ones running the club. Whether they take his suggestions is a different matter altogether, but if they do then we definitely won't be seeing fuck ups like VVD.

  13. We were complacent while fielding. There was a lack of intensity. But Sri Lanka deserved it. Makes the weekend's match interesting.

On a side note, Bumrah's poor form is baffling. Why isn't he bowling Yorkers? Also I can see Ashwin coming in for Jadhav, in the next match, as SA struggle against spin.

  14. Absolutely not surprised with Pakistan. On their day, they can beat the best. It's raining now and they are 19 runs ahead of par. If we lose tomorrow (the fucking rain can make anything possible), then this group opens up like anything. Can't (and don't want to) see it happening.

But well played Pakistan. Win against Sri Lanka and you might go through. The only thing that can hurt them is the run rate.

  15. Watched 'Wonder Woman'. A bit of a mess at times and predictable, but a massive improvement for DC from Man of Steel and that terrible Batman vs Superman. The reason is largely down to Gal Gadot and Chris Pine, both of whom are likeable with good chemistry. A decent story and nice execution. Even though the last main villain fight wasn't special, but the movie was highly enjoyable. Lynda Carter has a worthy successor.

Everyone expected Dhoni to come in instead of Pandya but the dcision was definitely vindicated given he smacked 19 off 4 balls including 3 consecutive sixes. Atmosphere intensified when that happened when I already thought it was as good as it could be.

Both Hardik and his brother,Krunal, can hit sixes for fun.

Nice to see you had fun. Whatever you did on Sunday, repeat the same routine for the match against Saffers.

No one is supporting poor Tamim, who is batting quite nicely.

  17. Lovely end to the innings. Good inninigs from Yuvi. Pakistan aiding us with atrocious catching.

Hardik showed why he was chosen over Ashwin, and sent ahead of Dhoni. He is a terrific fielder and handy bowler, too.

Just praying this fucking rain stays away.

  18. And we have lost an over to rain. 49 overs match now. I hope they send Hardik up the order if lose a wicket. He can inflict real damage.

Moments like that are where subcontinental teams are divided from teams like Aus, SA and England. Hassan is slow to react and doesn't put in a dive. An average Aussie or  Saffa fielder would have turned that top edge into a chance, and most times taken it.

Can't put us there anymore. In the past 5-6 years we have been amongst the best fielding sides. Your point is right in a way. Pakistan's ground fielding had been poor.

Utterly poor captaincy from Pakistani captain. Overcast conditions, and he bowls a spinner against a batsman returning to international cricket after 8 month injury lay off (rohit) and Dhawan who has been in iffy form.

And again later, allows Kohli to settle down before bringing back Amir to bowl. I am not complaining, though.

  20. I doubt Klopp will use strikers, and instead prefer a false nine. It's a good setup when we have someone like Mane.

As for Salah, his stats are definitely up there. My only issue is come the next AFCON, we will miss both him and Mane.

On a separate issue, seems we pulled the old trick of trying to renegotiate wages after a deal had been finalised with Van Dijk, leaving his reps infuriated. Now he is going to join City or Chelsea. Typical.
