  1. There’s a few things that are certain in life; death, taxes and Jeremy Clarkson and Alan Sugar tweeting about how crap they were at school and how they’re loaded now.

At times of crisis like these, then yes, people who can amply afford to pay staff should do. If they don't they are then passing on the buck to me and you. This is the whole rotten core of our economic model, it works if those with big money will take some of the strain at times of greatest need, but they won't. They'll pass it on to me and you, further indebting the country.

I'd hope to see some sort of outrage from Arsenal supporters and their unions like what Liverpool and Spurs did, they managed to change their club's minds.

I’m sure Arsenal could pay these staff if they really wanted to but it makes no business sense paying retail employees to not work in a shop that doesn’t exist anymore.

Basically the £2m in savings to the wage bill will go straight to the agent of 32 year old Willian.

Instead of £2m in wages to a load of staff who aren’t deemed needed any more and £2m to Willian’s agent.

  3. Looking at the Arsenal redundancy from a complete neutral point of view, I don’t really get the whole outrage at Arsenal and I will say why.

Arsenal had a shop outside Finsbury Park station. Apparently it’s been there years. Recently, they chose to close that store completely. Whether that was down to the pandemic (possible), that sales figures were down over a significantly longer or something like rent being increased if they didn’t own the building, I’m not sure but I would hazard a guess that some of the 55 are made up of these retail employees from that store.

They’ll already have staff at their Emirates shop so you can’t just throw them in there at a time when revenue will be completely down due to a lack of home games and probably having to close their online store for a period, like a few clubs I saw and you probably can’t have too many people working in a shop at any given time these days either. What are Arsenal expected to do? Pay these people to not work in a shop that doesn’t exist anymore?

It’s not a great situation but it’s the environment we’re in and while it may be questionable morally, it’s the way businesses, some far bigger than Arsenal, operate.

Ignore the tweet but reading the picture of the article, Thomas Frank is very confident we’ll have a strong tram next season. Glad to hear

Does that actually tell you anything though? Brentford will have a strong team because they (and presumably Frank) believe in what they’re doing and the model they’re implementing and whatever happens, they’re confident in their recruitment strategy and believe they’ll have a strong team, whether that’s Benhrama being sold for £20m and signing some unknown Danish striker for £2.1m as a replacement or Benhrama staying.

Not sure they'll be keen on that! They'll probably want momentum going in to next season and although there's a short turnaround, they are going to be given extra rest before the actual start of the Premier League.

I doubt there's little point to them taking part. Man Utd have a chance to win some silverware and I doubt they'll take EL lightly. Chelsea will probably go out against Bayern in their CL tie anyway.

Their first team players wouldn’t (and shouldn’t be anywhere near) the Europa League now they’re in the Champions League and looking at a season of approx 50 games before anyone goes to the Euros.

Bin it. Get them rested and concentrate on next season and retaining Champions League football for a second consecutive season.

  6. Manchester United and Chelsea should effectively throw their Europa League games in August. They’ve both got Champions League football next season and given the short turnaround between then and the restart of the Premier League, theres little point to them taking part.

Bristol City are another, last year I think. The new St Albans one is shocking, looks like they took the Man City one, changed the text and banged a random shape in the middle.

I don't mind new badges per se - I was never a fan of ones that look like a court logo or something - but give them some personality, some detail, something actually unique. The absolute worst are things like Juve or Nantes, a blatant 'brand' attempt if there ever was.

The St Albans one looks like they’ve slapped an iPhone case in the middle of it.

New ones look like the logos of some start-ups

All new badges seem to be on roundels these days and while the middle may be more unique to an individual club, the overall design just looks lazy and generic. These are just four fairly recent examples of new badges I’ve seen with such similar designs.

Brilliant news. The FAQ attached to that FA statement says fans can return (usually maximum group of six, socially distanced etc) without qualifying when from as far as I can tell. Here's hoping that means August!

Edit - above is for Grassroots only. The link to the National League and women's advice is broken...

Edit again - from the National League it seems as though it'll be the October stuff that was announced the other day. Like most things from the government in this pandemic the whole thing's clear as mud!

What step does the October stuff go down to?

Simply walking off the pitch or post postponing football, will do just that. Postpone. Delaying the inevitable.

Coming together as a community to identify, arrest, charge, and publicly shame that racist for the end of his days is the best rational thing we can do. If black lives didn't matter, that 12 year old would still be at home wanking in front of his monitor.

Is that enough? This scenario has happened countless times over the last few years and nothing changes. It’s a continuation of the same problem.

The box ticking exercise by the Premier League is pointless now they’re not actually willing to take action.

  11. 2 minutes ago, Cicero said:

You genuinely think walking off the pitch or postponing football will end racism?

Where did I say it would. I didn’t. The whole “solidarity” bollocks the Premier League has shown since the restart is exactly that, it’s bollocks.

“Black Lives Matter but not too much, now go and run around Wilf”

  12. 2 minutes ago, Cicero said:

Postponing literally won't do anything. Improving efforts to come together to recognise and eliminate racism in the sport, does.

There will always be racists. The fact this 12 year old twat was easily identified by the community and charges were set, is genuinely the best and reasonable thing that can be done.

Aye, but bollocks to the victim, go out there and run around for our entertainment.

  13. Going to be unpopular but the game shouldn’t have gone ahead today, I think. It just makes the whole thing a bit of a box ticking exercise for the Premier League that they’re not quite serious enough about.

The Black Lives Matter patches on shirt sleeves, the t-shirts teams have worn in their warmups and the kneel prior to kick-odd just doesn’t seem quite so serious anymore after Zaha’s suffered unbelievable abuse over night/this morning and he’s gone on and played. How much he’s been effected and how much Palace were effected is not measurable for us mere fans but I can’t imagine he’s batted it off lightly and not should he.

Postponement seems quite serious, I know, and I know the abuse didn’t happen inside a football stadium but it’s a stand I feel the Premier League should have made today. The Black Lives Matter movement isn’t purely aligned to Football, let alone Premier League Football and not sport at all, it’s far bigger than that and I don’t think it looks great that today’s game went ahead.
