  1. I enjoyed Kathy Bates, who was great, as always. Owen Wilson was good as well. Have I said that Marion Cotillard is amazing?
  2. 'The Player' After watching the end, I realized I had already seen this one, many years ago. But it was a great watch all the same, with an awesome cast. 8/10 'Midnight in Paris' Ok, I might be exaggerating a bit with the score I'm giving it, but I saw this last Saturday, not feeling very well and was just hoping for another decent Woody Allen movie. After watching practically all of his classics, I can say that this one is, for me, among his 3 best works, hands down. Great cast, with a good story. Marion Cotillard is a Goddess. 9/10
  3. 'El Orfanato (The orphanage) 7/10 True Romance 8.5/10
  4. 'Jûbê ninpûchô (Ninja scroll)' 9/10 'Ivanovo Detstvo (Ivan's childhood)' 9/10 'Shock Corridor' 8/10 'The Last Seduction' 7.5/10 'Avengers: Infinity War' 8/10 'The Gunfighter' Love Gregory Peck. 9/10 'Deadpool 2' Much more inferior compared to the first one. 7/10
  5. Watch Wild Strawberries and The Seventh Seal. Both are brilliant.
  6. Steven Soderbergh's film.
  7. 'Alphaville' 3/10 'Johnny Guitar' 6/10 'Fort Apache' 7/10 'Touki Bouki' 6/10 'Der Blaue Engel (The blue angel)' 7.5/10 'Stalag 17' 9/10 'Cléo de 5 à 7' Definitely, the Nouvelle Vague is not for me. 3/10 'Hannah Arendt' 5/10 'Papurika (Paprika)' 7/10 'Thor: Ragnarok' 7/10 'Boyz n the Hood' 8.5/10 'The Naked City' 7/10 'Salvatore Giuliano' 7/10 'Punch-Drunk Love' 6.5/10 'Sex, Lies, and Videotape' 7.5/10
  8. I recommend you '5 Centimeters per second' and 'The promised place in our early days', from the same director. The former left me a bit of a sour taste, but looking back it was a top movie as well.
  9. I have mate. Great movie. Probably I felt more connected to it, because I can relate to the movie's theme (long distance relationship). But yeah, top movie and Makoto Shinkai is brilliant.
  10. 'The Message' 7.5/10 'Inherit the Wind' 9/10 'Cronos' 5.5/10 'Bring me the Head of Alfredo Garcia' 5/10 'Kiki's Delivery Service' 6/10 'The Killers (1946)' 8.5/10 'Incendies' 8.5/10
  11. 'Hard Times' 7/10 'Se, Jie (Lust, caution)' 5/10 'Man of the West' 8/10 'Kumo no Mukô, Yakusoku no Basho (The place promised in our early days)' 7.5/10 'Kurenai no Buta (Porco rosso)' 8/10 'A Woman Under the Influence' 6/10 'The Omen (1976)' 8/10 'Cria Cuervos' 8/10 'Central do Brasil' 8.5/10 'Tokyo Goddofazazu (Tokyo godfathers)' 8.5/10 'The Big Red One' 6/10 'Le Doulos' 7/10
  12. 'Le Mépris (Contempt)' 6/10 'Bugsy Malone' 3/10 'The Quiet Man' 7/10 'James and the Giant Peach' 2/10 'Sabotage' 6/10 '42' 7/10 'Ordinary People' 7/10 'Lonely are the Brave' 7.5/10 'Scarface (1932)' 6.5/10 'Terms of Endearment' 7/10 'To Live and Die in L.A.' 6.5/10 'Ordet (The word)' 5/10 'Hoshi no Koe (Voices of a distant star) 7.5/10 'Pafekuto Buru (Perfect Blue) My first Satoshi Kon movie. Intense. I highly recommend it. 8.5/10 'Byôsoku 5 Senchimêtoru (5 centimetres per second)' I didn't like the ending, but Makoto Shinkai is a brilliant director. 7.5/10
  13. 'The Adventures of Tintin' 3/10 'The Thief of Bagdad (1940)' 8/10 'The Ipcress File' 8.5/10 'Don't Look Now' Ridiculous. 2/10 'Du Rififi Chez Les Hommes' 8/10 'Breathless' 7/10 'The Manchurian Candidate' 8.5/10 'The Life and Death of Colonel Blimp' 8.5/10 'A Place in the Sun' 8/10 'Le Mépris' 4/10 'Judgment at Nuremberg' 9/10
  14. 'Hidden Figures' 7/10 'Mission Impossible: Ghost Protocol' 5/10 'The Lego Batman Movie' 7/10 'After Hours' 6/10 'Kong: Skull Island' 3/10 'Rumble Fish' 5/10 'Broken Arrow' 3/10 'Le Violon Rouge' 6/10 'The Tall T' 6.5/10 'L'Atalante' 6/10 'Harold and Maude' 8/10 'Great Expectations' 9.5/10 'Salvador' 8.5/10 'Swingers' 7.5/10
  15. I know. But I thought it would be much better than it was, considering it was the movie I was waiting for the most, last year.
  16. 'Intimacy' 3/10 'River of No Return' 6/10 'The Birth of a Nation (2016)' 8/10 'The Commitments' 4/10 'Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2' 7.5/10 'Grease' I don't like Travolta, but this was decent. 7/10 'Sing' 6/10 'Sully' 6.5/10 'The Emperor's New Groove' Weak. Good thing it doesn't last long. 4/10 'To Wong Foo Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar' I love Patrick Swayze, but this one was poor. 3/10 'It (2017)' 'You'll float too.' Very good. 8/10 'Dunkirk' I expected more from it. One of the weakest war movies I've seen, despite having Tom Hardy in it. 6/10 'Creed' 5/10 'PotC: Dead Men Tell No Tales' Rubbish. Depp had the best performance, so that tells you a lot about this movie. 3/10 'The Great Wall' Good visuals. Nothing else. 4/10 'Moana' Entertaining. I was quite surprised with it. 7.5/10
  17. Didn't connect with it. The whole display of Fassbender's sex life just didn't appeal, to me. Very powerful movie. Some of the scenes were sickening, though. Makes your blood boil, because it's the same in real life. The remake of 3:10 To Yuma was very good as well.
  18. 'Where the Sidewalk Ends' 6/10 'I, Daniel Blake' 9/10 'Ah-Ga-Ssi (The handmaiden)' 7.5/10 'White Dog' 7.5/10 'Night and the City' 7.5/10 'Play it Again, Sam' 8/10 'Hello, Dolly!' 6/10 'Dom Za Vesanje (Time of the gypsies)' 5/10 'Tony Manero' 2/10 'Niagara' 6/10 'Shame' 4/10
  19. The Avengers trailer looks great. I hope the movie lives up to the hype.
  20. 'The Seven Year Itch' 8/10 'Lion' 8.5/10
  21. 'Hell or High Water' 8.5/10 'Gentlemen Prefer Blondes' 8/10 'Forushande (The salesman)' 7/10 'Rogue One' 3/10 'Beauty and the Beast (2017)' 2/10 'Swiss Army Man' 6/10 'Witness for the Prosecution' 9/10
  22. I watched two of the best nominees, for last year's Best Picture Oscar: Hacksaw Ridge and Fences. Two completely different stories, but two great movies. 9/10 for both of them.
