Grifo has put pen to paper on a contract until 2021 at the BORUSSIA-PARK. "Vincenzo Grifo has developed in a really interesting way in the last couple of years in Freiburg," said Borussia's sporting director Max Eberl. "He played a key role in their outstanding season and will make us much more flexible going forward next season. We're really pleased to be able to bring him to Gladbach." Grifo scored six goals and returned eight assists as promoted Freiburg finished a remarkable seventh on their return to the top flight. The free-kick specialist becomes the Foals’ second summer recruit after Dieter Hecking’s side announced the signing of 17-year-old French central midfielder Mickaël Cuisance from Ligue 1 side Nancy on a five-year deal in early May. While they are set to lose Mahmoud Dahoud to Borussia Dortmund over the close season, Gladbach have also recently confirmed that United States international Fabian Johnson and Guinean winger Ibrahima Traoré have signed new contracts with the club. Good signing for Gladbach, but we'll have to wait and see how he develops there. Playing for Gladbach is not the same as playing for Freiburg!
nudge Posted May 28, 2017 Posted May 28, 2017 Great signing, I think he will do just fine in Gladbach, although there will be a lot of competition for the starting XI. Way too low transfer fee for the player of his talent though, and it's a pity to see Freiburg start losing their best players after qualifying for Europe.
