MARCA's front page this morning is dedicated to an interview with Asensio who has grown into the first team at Real Madrid toward the end of the season and looks to have forced James Rodríguez out of the door.  The player can play in various midfield and attacking positions with an excellent technical ability and is also extremely quick.  The player that is a Barça fan and the player that could've played for Athletic Bilbao but fell through their scouting system which is strange.  All of that and more inside the paper in a great interview.  Also up top a reference to Antoine Griezmann's contract renewal with Atlético Madrid until 2022 and an interview with 10 time winner of Roland Garros, Rafa Nadal.

SPORT go with the Marco Verratti saga and a comment made by the player's agent Donato di Campli as he left the PSG offices in a rush...  "Barça or Barça" those are the only options the player wants to listen to.  FCB have apparently offered €100m (nobody has confirmed this) directly to Paris Saint-Germain so as to open the gate to be able to speak to the player personally who is in Ibiza since yesterday.  But apparently right now Barça are hesitant to speak to him personally because the Parisian club haven't recognised the offer officially to Barcelona and so has only met up with a few Barça players who are on holiday there (including a Chelsea player in that group, Cesc Fàbregas).  Also references at the bottom to Griezmann's renewal with Atlético Madrid until 2022.

"My dream is to continue to win things at Madrid".  Also on the right hand side references to the ongoing U-21 European Championships where Spain face Serbia after having beat both Macedonia and Portugal.  Underneath that we see a quote by ex Barcelona president Joan Laporta who like a few others is looking for the moment to push forward another presidential election at FC Barcelona.

France and Borussia Dortmund's Dembélé makes today's front page and a suggestion that the deal to sign him will happen in the summer of 2018.  I have no idea how that's news and it seems very strange...  Also news that Marco Verratti has taken time out of his holiday in Ibiza to make a lightning trip to Paris so as to talk face to face with the PSG board.  On other news, the story about Brazilian Lucas Lima possibly coming to the club and the announcement that it would be in January only for a club board member (unknown) to say it isn't done.

AS offer their front page dedicated to Real Madrid target Mbappé and the rumour that Real coach Zinedine Zidane called the player personally to convince him to move to Real Madrid and not listen to all the other offers.  Apparently telling him he would get minutes in the side and that Real Madrid can turn him into a world star.  Also further news on the Cristiano Ronaldo tax fraud case where the Spanish fiscal office have apparently said that the only deal that can be made is the same as for everyone by admitting he evaded tax, paying the fine and what he owes.

Barcelona based SPORT go the Verratti route with their front page this morning and the news that the player has taken two days out of his holiday to quickly return to Paris and talk face to face with PSG.  He will apparently be trying to force his move to Barcelona in person by stating that this is his only chance to get the move he's always wanted.  Also the news that Lucas Lima will be signing in January although that's in the air at the moment and shrouded in a bit of scandal.  At the bottom we see more news on the Cristiano Ronaldo tax fraud case where the player is apparently saying he won't pay the Spanish fiscal office and that he'll fight his case in the courts.

The main proportion of MUNDO DEPORTIVO's front page today is again dedicated to the ongoing and never ending saga with Marco Verratti.  According to sources in France, Verratti was told by PSG (owner Nasser Al-Khelaifi) that they won't sell him and to make Verratti change his mind they offered him a substantial raise on his wages to €12m a season.  Verratti apparently refused straight away and left the offices at the club returning on the first flight to Ibiza.  Verratti apparently only wants to know about signing for Barcelona.  Also up top MUNDO DEPORTIVO congratulate Messi on his 30th birthday.  At the bottom we see references to Spain's 0-1 victory in the U-21 European Championships with a wonderful performance from Denis Suárez.

MARCA'a headline this morning says: "Saúl takes us to the final".  The front page is dedicated to Spain's 3-1 victory against Italy in the U21 Euro Championships semi-final.  Atlético Madrid's Saúl scored the hat-trick.  Also on the right-hand aside Theo Hernández' imminent move from Atlético Madrid to Real Madrid is slot completed and a quote by him saying that his dream as a kid was to one day play for Real Madrid.

1280px-Mundo_Deportivo.svg.png

BARCELONA

5953397667d24.jpg

MUNDO DEPORTIVO also dedicate their front page to the U21 Spain side getting to the final after a 3-1 victory agains Italy's U21 with a hat-trick from Saúl Ñíguez. Up top we see a debate that is contained inside about what each senior Mundo Deportivo journalist thinks on the Héctor Ballerín issue for Barça and the difficulties that are contained in getting him from Arsenal.  At the bottom a strong quote from Chile's Arturo Vidal on Cristiano Ronaldo where he calls him "Conceited".

DiarioAS.png

MADRID

5953397637722.jpg

AS perform a miracle on their front page which is dedicated to Spain's U21 side getting to the final of the UEFA European Championship against Italy by 3-1.  Even though Saúl was the protagonist (something all of Spain's national sports newspapers managed), AS managed to obtain a picture with Saúl and of course their picture boy over the past few days, Real Madrid's Asensio.  Aside from that, we also have a mention at the bottom on the Confederations Cup semi-final between Portugal and Chile where once again AS manage to take a swipe where its not needed by saying that Portugal face Messi's dark beast, Chile.

Also reports that the Manchester City group along with Pep Guardiola's brother, Pere, will attempt to purchase newly promoted La Liga club Girona.

SATURDAY 5th AUGUST 2017

logo-marca.png

MADRID

598552763b989.jpg

Not much happening in Madrid, so MARCA this morning have decided to go with a front page on what's happening in Paris, France with yesterday's presentation of Neymar for Paris Saint-Germain.  My favourite bit is the amount of security involved...  Comparing that to what Donald Trump gets these days you'd think someone in the US wants rid of Mr Orange.

1280px-Mundo_Deportivo.svg.png

BARCELONA

598552768a736.jpg

MUNDO DEPORTIVO have decided to go with what looks like being the three star signings this summer for FC Barcelona.  Coutinho, Dembélé and Iñigo Martínez.  According to Mundo Deportivo, those are the three that will be arriving.  Up top the sports newspaper have decided to go with one of Neymar's quotes yesterday on his presentation for PSG... "The best players in the world are here".

320px-Logo_diario_AS.svg.png

MADRID

598560857282d.jpg

AS go with the return of Cristiano Ronaldo to training with Real Madrid.  They also take a quote from something the player said in his court appearance for tax fraud which could get him 15 years in prison...  "I've never had a problem in England and that's why I'd like to go back".  Interesting because his tax problems have nothing to do with his wages at Real Madrid and actually have everything to do with his own publicity work he does.  Also up top references to Neymar moving to PSG and how 6 out of the 12 nominees for UEFA awards are all Real Madrid players.

The main portion of MARCA's front page is dedicated to Real Madrid's upcoming game against Manchester United in the European Super Cup.  The headline states that Mourinho wants revenge for some reason. Revenge for what is my question?  Also up top in MotoGP we had three Spanish winners in the three motorcycling categories (Moto1, Moto2 and MotoGP) which were dedicated to the death of one of the greatest motorcylist riders of all time, Ángel Nieto.

logo-marca.png

MADRID

59952475f1f2a.jpg

MARCA's headline says "The Summer Dance" in reference to Real Madrid winning the Supercopa de España.  The score was 1-3 in the Camp Nou with a better performance from Real, it was 2-0 at the Santiago Bernabéu.

1280px-Mundo_Deportivo.svg.png

BARCELONA

5995247669fc2.jpg

MUNDO DEPORTIVO put a lighter criticism on their front page although inside they hit the board at FCB really hard.  The headline on the front page simply says that Barça haven't managed to start their engines yet.  There's a lot more problems than a twitchy starter motor here in my opinion.  Also at the bottom we see references to Cristiano Ronaldo publicly stating (via one of his social media accounts) that he feels like he's being persecuted.  He said the same thing about his tax evasion court case a couple of weeks ago.  He seems to think there should be different rules for him.

320px-Logo_diario_AS.svg.png

MADRID

599524763a807.jpg

AS produce one of their poster special front pages which open up into an A4 size poster for collectors.  Now...  This type of front page is usually reserved for very special moments like when the World Cup was won, the European Championships or a Champions League...  This infact, in my opinion, is the showing of why Barça are bigger!  This in my view is the proof that there's still catch-up or that at least the psychosis of being dominated has affected judgment.  Anyhow...  AS bring out a poster special for the Supercopa de España with the headline that reads... "Shower and Title".

400px-Logo_Sport.svg.png

BARCELONA
