He'd probably do well in the right system. Seems like he's finally got over his post-Covid dip physically. Great physical attributes, just lacking in defensive awareness and poor on the ball.

Lyon upping the bid - £12.7m.

Quote

French club Lyon have made a £12.7m bid for Everton defender Ben Godfrey.

Godfrey joined from Norwich for £25m in 2020 and has gone on to make 93 appearances for the Toffees, including 16 last season.

The 26-year-old is entering the final 12 months of his contract at Goodison Park.

Last season's Europa League winners Atalanta are also understood to be interested in the Englishman, who has won two caps for his country.

Godfrey reportedly, external saw a £10m move to the Serie A side fall through in January.

Had no idea he signed for as much as £25m in 2020.

Yeah that was the summer of Moshiri throwing one last pile of money at the whole thing. Signed Ancelotti, James, Allan, Doucoure and Godfrey. About £80m in transfer fees that summer and an extra £30m a year on the wage bill between them.

Apparently the club want £15m for Godfrey. Anything over £10m would be great in my opinion. He's a squad player and he could leave for free in 12 months.
