Michael
Poland played Turkey in a friendly this evening in their last game before Euro 2024. Poland beat Turkey 2-1 in the end. Swiderski scored to give Poland the lead as early as the 12th minute, a lead Poland would maintain until half-time. But in the 2nd-half, Turkey equalised through a goal by Yilmaz in the 77th minute. However, Poland would retake the lead late in the game, as Zalewski scored a lovely winning goal. Poland played very well once again and deserved the win. Redcanuck
Surprised that Poland beat Turkey, I had Poland to struggle and finish last in their group, while believing Turkey were a dark horse at the Euros. Poland suffered injuries to strikers Karol Swiderski and Robert Lewandowski while losing Milik last game so depending on how bad the injuries today where, they could be in trouble with no strikers. Poland look quite strong, judging by their friendly performances, they were definitely the better team against Turkey and deserved the win. They could have scored more goals in truth, but the Turkish keeper made some good saves. It will be a huge blow for Poland if they lose Lewandowski and Swiderski, seeing as Milik will definitely not be going to the Euros following his injury in the friendly against Ukraine. But the absence of Lewandowski in particular, would be a huge setback for Poland. He is the go to guy in attack for them.
