Administrator Stan Posted April 17, 2018 Administrator Posted April 17, 2018 had a 'heated' exchange with Graeme Murty after defeat to Celtic https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/43793483 Quote Kenny Miller and Lee Wallace are to be suspended by Rangers pending an investigation into an angry exchange with manager Graeme Murty. The experienced duo are understood to have rounded on Murty following Sunday's 4-0 Scottish Cup semi-final defeat by Celtic at Hampden. Former Scotland striker Miller, 38 was an unused substitute at the weekend. Left-back and club captain Wallace, 30, has been sidelined since mid-September because of injury. The pair will be called to a meeting on Tuesday morning. Miller's contract runs out at the end of the season, while Scotland international Wallace has a year left on his deal.
Dave Posted April 17, 2018 Posted April 17, 2018 This is all a shame. I was hopeing Murty would gather support from everybody and get the job full time.

But Murthy should have no chance of being the Rangers manager next season. Whether or not Miller and Wallace ever play for the club again isn't even a deciding factor in this (and frankly, they've both not got a lot of leverage to stand on). But there are many options out there for taking the job, that would be a far better job. Including a manger not far down the road from them at Kilmarnock.

Personally I feel that if he can finish second it would be quite harsh not to give a transfer window and a whole season to see if he can further improve the team. There's not really much more they could have expected when he was given the role of a temporary basis.

Steve Clarke has only lost 4 games since taking over at Kilmarnock, with a much less talented squad and much less money to spend in January than Rangers did. Including beating Celtic and Rangers multiple times. Murty has at least steadied the club after their last disaster, but in no way looks like he's capable of closing the gap above.
