bozziovai Posted June 27, 2018 Share Posted June 27, 2018 after Germany failed to survive the group stages, it had me thinking. this has become a trend already that the defending champions did not make it to the round of 16. First it was France in 2002. Brazil was at least good at 2006 reaching the Quarters ... but then Italy in 2010 ... Spain in 2014 and now Ze Germans. my question now is -- WHY ??? - is it complacency being World Champions that they feel invincible ?? - is it that the teams in their respective groups have studied them ( champions ) to the minute of details that's why their play has been dissected ??? - is it lack of motivation having already won the coveted trophy ??
