Eco Posted May 16, 2019 Posted May 16, 2019 Parma Calcio 1913, commonly referred to as Parma, is an Italian football club based in Parma, Emilia-Romagna. It currently plays in Serie A. Founded as Parma Football Club in December 1913, the club plays its home matches in the 26,969-seat Stadio Ennio Tardini, often referred to as simply Il Tardini, from 1923. Financed by Calisto Tanzi, the club won eight trophies between 1992 and 2002, a period in which it achieved its best ever league finish, as runners-up in the 1996–97 season. The club has won three Coppa Italia, one Supercoppa Italiana, two UEFA Cups, one European Super Cup and one UEFA Cup Winners' Cup.[2][3] Financial troubles were brought about in late 2003 by the Parmalat scandal which caused the parent company to collapse and resulted in the club operating in controlled administration until January 2007. The club was declared bankrupt in 2015 and re-founded in Serie D but secured a record three straight promotions to return to Serie A in 2018.
Eco Posted May 16, 2019 Author Posted May 16, 2019 Have absolutely loved having this iconic club back in Serie A. Their team of the late 90's was full of iconic names, and they were so close to winning the league a couple of times with those teams with Buffon, Crespo, Cannavaro, and more. While before my time, I still love a comeback story and Parma have certainly struggled over the past decade, and then got 4 straight promotions to get into Serie A this year. This year has had some highs, and a lot of lows, and currently they are 3 points clear of relegation with 2 games remaining.
Eco Posted May 19, 2019 Author Posted May 19, 2019 After today's 1-0 win, Parma have secured their spot in Serie A next year!
ScoRoss Posted September 18, 2020 Posted September 18, 2020 Kyle J. Krause becomes the latest American to purchase an Italian club. Will own 90% of the club.
ScoRoss Posted April 6, 2021 Posted April 6, 2021 Stadium plans announced for Parma. Will be close behind all the other stadiums to be opened by Italian clubs....
ScoRoss Posted May 21, 2021 Posted May 21, 2021 Filippo Inzaghi and Fabio Cannavaro amongst the candidates for leading them in Serie B next season. Would love to see Cannavaro back at the club, and maybe bring his old teammate Buffon back as well...
ScoRoss Posted May 27, 2021 Posted May 27, 2021 Enzo Marseca leaving Man City to join Parma as their new head coach. Seemed to be highly rated and had been linked with the Celtic managers job previously. Hopefully he can lead them back to Serie A immediately.
