    Dan describes it perfectly here:

Man City are objectively the worst club in football because of this investigation hanging over them, the completely plastic nature of their standing in the game and their immoral owners. It's impossible for most people to conjure up that sort of animosity though because they don't know an insufferable Man City fan whereas everyone knows half a dozen Man Utd fans and half a dozen Liverpool fans (and they're not all like this by any means but) who boast as if they're invincible in moments because they've got safety in numbers so you've got to poke fun at them when they get a knock-back because those are just the rules. The decent Man Utd and Liverpool fans who didn't boast that much in the first place just end up caught in the crossfire but it goes back to the whoppers in your fanbases who bring that upon the rest of you because they don't know the meaning of humility. That just isn't there with Man City. Yes, they should be the most hated club but if you don't have that day to day interaction with their fans then you're just not going to be as arsed.

Have to say Chelsea for worst club, City are the suave, sophisticated serial killer and then Chelsea are the texas chainsaw massacre lol

Not that anybody could have anticipated what has happened, but I think the one thing Matthew Benham probably is critical of himself for is not building a bigger stadium.

I imagine the ideal next step will be something half way to the current stadium and Twickenham with it being a multi purpose stadium for additional revenue.

Honestly it doesn’t seem like it is. In terms of Twickenham I imagine it’d be viewed as a chance to use it once or a few times a year to help build fanbase/provide more opportunities for people to attend. Still mental and will most likely be hated by most of our supporters, not to mention rugby fans.

In terms of the stadium, Benham has always said that stadium and matchday revenue isn’t that important in relation to tv money, and that for most clubs it’s what you do with that money that makes a difference. For example if you look at Liverpool’s income matchday revenue makes up about £80m whereas media made £242m. Obviously £80m isn’t to be sniffed at but once you get below the 60k seater stadiums the matchday revenue drops off a lot and I think at that point it’s about what advantage you can gain from being smart with your money rather than making a little bit more.

The reality is that we could have moved further out into Hounslow and built a 25k-30k stadium with room to expand but the preference was to always stay in Brentford and I think it’s to our advantage, the stadium is packed out most games, the atmosphere is arguably one of the best in the league, especially when we’re up against the big 6. I think you struggle to get that by going bigger, you only have to look at Fulham to see whats happened there. Grand stadium, mix of modern and historic but you never really hear about how the fans create a massive atmosphere. Compare that to not just us but even QPR, smaller ground, can fill it out and create noise. That has to be the preference for going bigger just for more revenue. Look at Anfield, a lot of complaints about the new stands theyve built and the reduction in atmosphere.

On a happier note I hope you all enjoyed MOTD 2 yesterday. Its a shame that we haven't seen Olise and Eze play together more often this season as them two behind Mateta seems to be the Premier League's answer to The Harlem Globetrotters.

They're both Champions League quality players now. If you stand off them both they'll destroy you and if you get close to them they're so good in tight spaces you need three players round them. I don't think we will see two complete players with this much talent in the same Palace team for a very long time.

Its just about enjoying the last five matches seeing them together now. I think we're resigned to losing Michael Olise. Hopefully it will be an early 'United Panic Buy' as opposed to a late signing when other teams have missed out on first targets. As with our track record of signing replacements we'd be in for another long season.

I know they won’t sign him but Olise is a Pep/Man City winger. He would be unreal there. Would be interesting to see him avoid City/PSG and go to a club like Liverpool if they were to lose Salah in the Summer.

Be interesting to see how they manage financially (and what punishments will be forthcoming) if they a) get relegated and b) stay down for at least 1 season.

Their recruitment must have screwed them up financially if they go down. Be amazed if they're not in breach of any financial stability rules for the 3-year period that this season and last season are included in.

Its a massive shame for their fans, feels like it could be a Portsmouth moment tbh but at least Pompey won the FA Cup and got to play against AC Milan and Ronaldinho. Those memories can take you a long way in League 2 lol

  5. @Devil If you wanna have a discussion about what you think I’m wrong about or unfair about I’m more than happy to do that, you will probably disagree with me at points and I will probably disagree with you at points and that’s fine. But theres no need for trying to work out underlying agendas, I could easily sit here and talk about you still living in SAF’s us versus them mentality and being incapable of taking criticism, but the reality is more likely that we think about football differently based on our experiences with the game and so come to different conclusions that don’t seem logical when compared with each other.

The irony is one of my best mates is a United fan but the only times I have disagreements about the club with anyone is on here. Which in fairness is probably a reflection of my lack of will power not to post the first thing that jumps into my head lol, but is mostly due to what I wrote above about approaching the game from different positions.

You're none stop. Was someone you hated a United fan because I don't see a reason for you to dislike United so much.

Did you not see your entire team visibly embarrassed today?

Yes of course it’s fun to watch United be shit, what normal person wouldn’t find that entertaining after seeing decades of dominance. I enjoyed watching Gerrard slip a title away, sometimes people just like to get fun out of watching football lol. But no, its not hatred, generally just bemusement at how much the club spends and still manages to get so much wrong.

I genuinely don’t think theres another team in the league who could win this badly against Coventry City…thats not hatred, just an observation as to where you are as a club right now. An observation I would imagine is shared by many, many people, likely Jim Ratcliffe included in that.

    Debating a decision is fine.

But having a clear and blatant hatred like that Brentford fan does is weird because I can't understand why. Why has a period of Uniteds success resulted in such hatred. I don't see the same hate being direct towards Manchester City or Liverpool as I do United.

It literally baffles me. If I'm reading the decision is shit etc.. that's fine, it's a debate but it goes beyond that with the comments.

dont criticise United or its hatred, got it!

  8. We've been the better team so far, Luton still trying to cause problems and in fairness they're not playing badly. But our defence has been strong and is matching them physically.

Two pretty big chances for Keane Lewis-Potter, one that he sent wide that should have been on target at least, the second a well taken header that just went over. He's been taking up good positions and as I type this done well on the counter to get a shot off and win the corner. He's desperate for a goal or two to build confidence, hopefully he can get that today.

Wissa's goal was beautiful, very well taken and just highlights the quality he has when playing in that central position.

We are playing consistently to our skill level and finally have the pace and quality going forward to cut teams open.

It feels weird we are seemingly out of this given the season we've had and the results against Luton, Forest and Everton.

Sadly I think the bottom three are set now. Next season will be more interesting looking at the top four in The Championship, Palace likely to lose Olise and another, Brentford likely to lose Toney, Forest likely to lose Gibbs-White and Everton may find it difficult to strengthen. I think Palace and Brentford will adapt but I'm not sure about the other two. Wolves always seem close on the PSR limit too.

If Leeds come up I think they'll go back down, same for Saints. I think Leicester would have the best chance of staying up just because I think they have a decent amount of players there that know what the Premier League is about and that can play in it to a good level. Bit like Bournemouth when they came back up I felt the same. Ipswich could stay up just because of them being an unknown quantity in the way Sheffield United were a few years ago.

For us it's difficult to predict injuries but losing Ivan Toney will not put us in a relegation battle, in fact for most of the season we were without him we were comfortably midtable with performances in some draws that suggested we should have been higher. Then the injuries came and we struggled heavily. I think in the Summer we will strengthen in midfield, centre back and at wing-back too so that we don't find ourselves in this position. We've made 7 different selections at left back this season alone.

You lot I think will be fine, Glasner clearly knows what he's doing and tbh it is a massive coup that you've signed him. If you can keep your best players, or at least Olise/Eze, and carrying on making shrewd signings like Wharton then I don't see why you can't push for Conference League next season.

I would like to see Borussia Dortmund against Bayern Munich in the final, a repeat of the 2013 Champions League final would be great! There are teams in the Bundesliga who have played some top tier level football this season. Teams like Bayern Munich, Dortmund, RB Leipzig and Stuttgart who have produced some real high level performances this season, while Bayer Leverkusen have been flawless and out of this world.

It makes me laugh when teams like Bayern have some performances that don't meet their usual high standards and are written off by some people. A few months ago a pundit called them an average team and it caught on, with lots of people copying him and calling them average. Equally, Arsenal were called one of the greatest sides ever by some pundits two month or three months ago. Especially in late January and throughout February this year, when Arsenal were thrashing sides like Crystal Palace, West Ham, Burnley, Newcastle and Sheffield United one match after the other and when they also beat Liverpool 3-1 during that period. But we clearly saw in the Champions League how Bayern proved that they were the better side against Arsenal, as Bayern deservedly knocked them out.

It's always been obvious that Bayern are stacked with top class quality players, even if perhaps a few positions in the team aren't as strong as they used to be or if the team didn't click or have the team cohesion that it should have had at times this season. That should never detract from the fact that this Bayern team are a top class team and definitely not an average team. Bayer Leverkusen's flawlessness and absolute brilliance this season in the Bundesliga, shouldn't take away from how strong Bayern Munich are. It will be very hard to achieve because the opposition are so strong, but I'd definitely like to see both Bayern Munich and Dortmund in the final this season.

Could you imagine Leverkusen beating Bayern to the league and Dortmund beating them to the Champions League in the same season? Would be crazy
