Can’t say I like Starmer either, but I don’t really see an alternative atm. Just feel like anything other than a Labour majority can still end up being Tory.

Yeah I can definitely see why people will vote Labour to get rid of the Tories. If there's a genuine left alternative standing where I am I'll vote them. Considering Greens but I just see them as middle class/student types that I can't really relate with even though I'd probably agree with a lot of their policies.

Genuine question: Wouldn't that be pretty dumb from the Tories given the latest polls? You'd think they'd wait as long as possible with the next GE since they're looking like losing them with a bang!

Edit: Ignore just saw the last GE was 2019 , for some reason thought it had been later.

Yeah has to be by January with the last being December 2019

Also, Darwin can fuck right off. Firstly wanted to have a barney with Sa towards the end of the game. Then he clapped for all the players and staff, except for Klopp. Then looked completely uninterested when he was making his final dressing room speech. Get to fuck.

Spat his dummy out because he was dropped for being wasteful in front of goal. No chance he starts over Salah, Diaz & Gakpo in the last few weeks, yet he still acts like a spoilt kid. Fuck him off for some decent money.

And yet there he was dancing with Klopp and the rest of the team at the after party. Maybe people read too much into things?

United fans on social media that are glad City won the league because it stopped Arsenal.

Weird but it just goes to show what function City play for most football fans. Nobody is actually arsed about them because everyone knows their success is plastic and nobody actually knows any City fans. They just exist as a means to stop teams from winning the league that you don't want. Even my girlfriend's brother who supports Liverpool was saying he'd rather City won it over Arsenal because if Arsenal do you wouldn't hear the end of it (which is odd considering Liverpool fans usually act outraged if neutrals don't line up to back them against Man City in a title race "for the good of football" or whatever, but I digress).

It would be brilliant for English football if they get sent packing to at least the Championship following the 115 charges and the whole project fell to pieces.

I wasn't bothered that City won it. Nothing to do with not hearing the end of it from Arsenal fans but because if City do it means nothing and no one is arsed and it would have been so annoying from our point of view missing out twice to City on the last day in recent years and then someone else taking advantage if they'd slipped up.

  5. I think it was closer than some will make out. 6 each with the knockdown is about right I think. Good fight though I thought, would like to see it again

I saw a sky news article that liverpool will be letting Matip and Thiago go.   I actually thought Thiago had already go, talk about a passenger.

Played 5 minutes this season I think then got injured again. Shame about the injuries because he's a great player on his day. Obviously not contributed as much as we'd hoped when he signed but I don't think he's the failure some will make out. Liverpool's best run post league win was during 21/22 when Thiago and Fabinho were key in midfield.

Shame Matip's time with us ended how it did. One of Klopp's earliest signings and a very good player for us, playing his part alongside Van Dijk in our very best period under Klopp

It's the best it's ever been with title races going down to the last day most seasons. FFP is going to ruin it in the long run but right now it;s the best league in the world

It's the third time in 7 seasons since City won their first under Guardiola. Off the top of my head the previous 3 before that didn't go to the last day either.

They've beaten you, us, City and Spurs this season. When it mattered near the end they lose at home to Villa who weren't in great form at the time. They shouldn't have lost that game in my opinion

PS - Fuck you Son you stupid prick.

I get that it's a game you would expect them to win, especially at home. It's normal to drop points now and again in a title race though, Man City have skewed that.

The only season they've not won it since 17/18 was when Liverpool knew they had to go out and win every single game after finishing second on 97 points the season before. That's not normal.

I certainly don't see it as Arsenal throwing it away this season.

It’s not bizarre in the slightest and you of all people should get it. If you winning a pretty meaningless end of season game meant Everton or Man United won the league there’s not a chance you’d want that to happen.

Tribalism is one of the best things about football, without it it’s incredibly dull.

You still had a chance at a Champions League spot. It wasn't meaningless at all. There's no way you wouldn't be arsed about missing out on a chance at a CL spot if last night was against any other side.

If Liverpool were playing Luton last night instead of Aston Villa and they could catch and relegate Everton by beating you then you'd have supported them 100%. This isn't even a matter of opinion. Going off the way you post about Everton on here you'd push your own Nan into the Mersey to see us get relegated xD. God forbid we were ever in the hunt for a league title, your head would explode mate.

Don't act like this is a one way street.

I certainly wouldn't be actively supporting Luton. Would I be arsed if Liverpool lost and it was a meaningless game like Monday night was? No. If Liverpool needed to win to keep hopes of a Champions League spot alive, I'd absolutely be wanting Liverpool to win.

I remember going to Anfield vs Chelsea when it was them and United going for the title. Liverpool's chance at a top four place had pretty much gone but I certainly wasn't supporting Chelsea during those 90 minutes. I probably debated it on the old forum at the time with people who were happy to see Liverpool lose. Was I arsed when Liverpool eventually lost? Not at all but you'd never see me actively supporting another club against my own.

The only time where the thought of 'i hope we get beat' has ever crossed my mind is when Hodgson was manager because I hated the cunt.

I think it’s just the nature of how fickle narratives in football can be. It’s a long, gruelling 38 game season with 3 Cup competitions thrown in too. You were so good in 2023 and mostly because you had a strong starting eleven that was rarely injured. But then you accrue injuries to Salah, Jones, Trent, Allison, sure some others too, but your best players are suddenly out at different points, have to come back and build up form and confidence in the hardest part of the season. You’re then expecting players like Mac Allister, Szobslai and Endo to step up even though it’s the first season at the club, in a new aggressive style with 2/3 having never played in England before.

I think you were always going to struggle if you suffered injuries to key players at key times because you don’t have the squad depth, and then on top of that last season City and Arsenal were competing for a title whilst you finished outside the top 4. It’s a massive jump to make. And I’ve not even mentioned the jeopardy of Klopp leaving.

I think we coped well with the injuries in January/February time. We were getting through games while having to play a few fringe players. But like you say it was those injured players coming back at the hardest part of the season and maybe some were rushed back too.

Villa should have won yesterday imo. Towards the end when the signs of collapse started I was sure they'd not only tie but win the game too.

I was surprised we didn't see Villa go for the win more as Liverpool were there for the taking. You had Martinez taking his time with the ball in his hands once they'd equalised. A draw or loss was neither here or there for them whereas a win would have finished the job. Ok they have +8 goals on Spurs at the moment so a draw might do them on the final day if Spurs were to win tonight but Spurs' last game is against a side that's conceded 101 goals this season so it's not out of the question they make that up if they need to.
