  1. That is the new badge that is on the kit
  2. Think about it, then we would have 432 different badges, 5 of which would be Manchester United badges that people re-designed and wanted on their profile. It'd be a mess.
  3. @Rab If it's not a real badge, then it won't be added. Also Rab, Olympique Lyon

    @Blue Happy Birthday.
  5. Thanks @nudge - I just put a hold on the Leviathan Wakes at the library.
  6. I need to get into a Sci-Fi series for fun. I haven't read a good one in sooooooooooooo long. Outside of GoT, I'm not even sure when I got into a good Sci-Fi recently.
  7. Currently I'm reading 3 books - One I'm only reading a chapter a day, followed by reading 'Happiness', and at night before bed, I read on Napoleon. So currently, here is what I'm reading. ^ On the Kindle. I am 48% completed ^ Paperback. Just started and reading 2-3 Chapters a day ^Will start today, got this in Hardback from the Library Also, I'm not sure if anyone goes to www.goodreads.com, but I enjoy the website in keeping up with how many books I've read, what I've read, and giving reviews. I just started keeping track of everything in June of last year, but it's a good little Social Media site for bibliophile. https://www.goodreads.com/user/show/87531703-lucas-persell
  8. This is exactly my thought on it. So much research is being done and all of Buddhism seems to be on board with learning and not ignoring science because it's an inconvenience to their beliefs. HH DL is actually a big fan of science and has really progressed the Buddhist crowd towards a better understanding of science, belief, and fantasy.
  9. Ha - for such a small book, I figured it was worth a shot. So I'll give it a read and let you know my thoughts. I believe the idea behind the book is to use the Tao's philosophy and make it work for Winnie the Pooh..? I'm also on a massive Mattheiu Ricard kick. With his background in molecular genetics, and having famous parents (Jean-Francois Revel & Yahne Le Toumelin), it's interesting to me how he is a Buddhist monk that still works on the scientific effects of meditation on the brain.
  10. 2 reasons, 1. I've actually heard great things about it. 2. It was $1.09
  11. The Path of Elders Fluent Forever The Four Noble Truths The Tao of Pooh Altruism: The Power of Compassion A Plea for the Animals: The Moral, Philosophical, and Evolutionary Imperative to Treat All Beings with Compassion The Monk and the Philosopher Le Petit Prince (In French, so I can read it to my daughter) The Art of Living : Vipassana Meditation 501 French Verbs Mastering French Vocabulary : A Thematic Approach Harry Potter, Tome 1 : Harry Potter a l'ecole des sorciers (Harry Potter, Book 1, in French) The Attention Revolution Altered Traits: Science Reveals how Meditation Changes your Mind, Brain, and Body
  12. It has been bought! What timing in my life. So for my birthday, my father who most really understand me bought me a Newcastle Scarf and Beanie (Since Atlanta United's best player is now there), and a $100 gift card to Thriftbooks.com (which, if you don't know, is a massive used book store online). So I bought it, and 14 other books so far with just $60.
  13. To think those two have anything in common is a joke.
  14. Haha - and that's my second favorite Russian novel. Oblomov was also good IMO, as well as Dead Souls.

Yeah - it'll certainly a busy one with now being a single parent for the weekend. I swear I have no idea who single parents do it. At least I have a lot of family nearby and a wife who is present, just contagious and unable to actually do anything.

Wife woke up sick, turns out she has strep throat with a bacteria infection on top of it. Doc wants her bed ridden until Wednesday. There goes my weekend.
  17. Finally got access to BeIN TV, which has the rights to La Liga and....you guessed it....LIGUE 1. Love this league so I was a bit gutted when BeIN and ATT parted ways, thus leaving me in the dark. Tomorrow we'll be my first match back in the league.
  18. That is my favorite book of all time. Dostoyevsky's life during the writing of that is absolutely crazy, which you can tell when you know the events and read the book.
  19. Can't blame him really. As we all get older, it's seems we have less and less time.
  20. Yes, I have only really studied Tibetan, or Vajrayana mostly, and it is a bit mystic. I have always been drawn to the Dalai Lama's open mindedness in regards to science and how when an ancient Tibetan tradition is proven wrong via scientific evidence, he seems to always be accepting of the change and understanding that some tradition is just that, tradition. A lot of TNH's writing don't resonate with me, although like you said, he has to be commended for reaching the masses which isn't something a lot of Buddhist monk has been able to do in the past. I'm very interested in learning more about Theravada Buddhism and so I'll search for that book. I'm sure I can snag a copy somewhere. BTW, how is Panflute doing? I feel like I haven't spoken with him in ages.
  21. Always have been. It's why I moved to China. I have flirted with Buddhism for so long now, going to my local temple here in Atlanta which has a program with a couple local universities to teach course on it and classes on the Tibetan language. Back in 2010 H.H. DL came to Atlanta and I was able to go, had a pretty private session with him and about 10 other people, one of which was Richard Gere! I have never read the Dhammapada, but have read so many book on Buddhism you'd like I was a scholar. One of my favorites being the Tibetan Book of the Living and Dying, and also some of Thich Nhat Hanh wrote 'Old Path White Clouds' which really was an incredible read. I'll check out your book though, as it's something I can't seem to learn enough about.
  22. Also was at a book store last night and found this gem, which will be part of my reading in the near future.
  23. Ya damn nitpicker Finished 2 books this week -
