  1. Yes, but a different, much smaller circuit is used for F1 racing (known as GP-Strecke)... The long circuit you see here is the original Nordschleife, it's too dangerous for F1.
  2. Not as much, but as in any other race, you'd rather have a good starting position to be in front and have clean air for as long as possible, so it still matters.
  3. It's where my German home is well, or used to be, rather. Just a few kilometers away from the Ring... Also, it's not Nürenburg but Nürburg (in the Eifel)
  4. Yes, the race starts at 15:30 CET tomorrow! You can watch it live with English commentary on their official youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKgMzHVA7nsDsDEKKMc9bKA It's pretty much a GT3 race, so no LMP1/LMP2 prototypes like in Le Mans. I love it, as I don't really like prototypes anyway, and GT racing is the most fun for me. Also, the circuit is the best of the crop
  5. Top 30 qualifying for 24H Nürburgring about to start!
  6. To be fair, Kobayashi only lost out to Perez during the 2012 season - and even then, it was very close. 66-60 in championship points, 11-9 in qualifying. Before that, he generally did as well as his teammates in qualifying and better than his teammates in races every season. 2009 - debut season, drove only in two races. Lost to his teammate Trulli in qualifying, but got the better of him in those two races. 2010 - Beat Heidfeld both in qualifying and in races (11-6 in pts), was equal to de la Rosa in qualifying and comfortably beat him in races (21-6 in pts). 2011 - was better than de la Rosa in one quali/race (6-0 in pts), was equal to Perez in qualifying, beat him in races (24-14 pts). 2012 - got outqualified and outscored by Perez (60-66 in pts). 2014 - no points in a shitty Caterham for either him or his teammates, but he outqualified Ericsson quite clearly. And yes, he's fantastic in sportscars, still love watching him.
  7. Kamui Kobayashi. Loved watching him - fast, aggressive, daring, entertaining. Definitely an underrated driver, and would have done much better if he had the funding and better teams.
  8. What's not to get? He loves Kvyat, and hates everyone who endangers his seat, simple as.
  9. And the ban has been onverturned now.
  10. Lundgaard > Zhou. Anyway, none of them have superlicense at the moment. Both Lundgaard and Zhou need to finish at least 4th in F2 this season; doesn't look good for Zhou at all as he's currently 8th, 32 pts behind the 4th and in a pretty disappointing form recently. Things are looking much better for Lundgaard at the moment, but with 4 races still remaining, it's not yet guaranteed either. Renault might have had doubts about his inexperience and lack of consistency as well. Piastri is eligible now after winning the F3 title, but he's definitely not ready for F1 yet. The rest of their juniors (Fewtrell, David, Collet) are out of the question completely. I'd much rather see a young driver in F1 next season instead of Alonso too, and in my opinion, it would have made sense for Renault to wait until the end of the season and then make their decision - if neither Lundgaard or Zhou managed to get the required superlicense points, they could have gone for Alonso then.
  11. Indeed! Reminded me of typical Saturday night family movie. Millie Bobby Brown did a great job, and I thought Henry Cavill is a fantastic Sherlock Holmes... Do you watch all movies in installments?
  12. Me too Yeah, nothing special, but I enjoyed it... Perfect when you just want an easy, lighthearted movie before bed...
  13. Enola Holmes (2020) Quite enjoyed it. A light-hearted, humorous spinoff movie in a Sherlock Holmes universe.
  14. 2 to 3 years in normal time or in Elon Time? In all seriousness, it's good to see progress in battery tech. If I'm reading this correctly, then this tabless cell design will not only increase range and be cheaper to produce but will also allow for tighter packaging without separate cooling system, so that's definitely good news.
  15. The Green Hell is back! 24 Hours Nürburgring this weekend... More than 30 teams, over a 100 cars. There have been 3 positive COVID-19 cases in Porsche works team after Le Mans, so all Porsche factory drivers, all employees of Porsche Motorsport and Manthey Racing will not travel to the Nürburgring, that affects 6 cars in 4 teams. Manthey Racing have withdrawn their entry completely as a result Other Porsche teams in the SP9 class managed to replace the drivers and got new lineups. In positive news though, Porsche gets advantage from BoP (-20kg), while Audi (+5kg) and BMW (+10kg) get restrictions. Lamborghini is allowed to make the car 10kg lighter, while where are no changes for Mercedes.
  16. Nice! I see they have Star Wars: Squadrons on pre-order for decent price, so I might as well buy it now too... Will definitely get the Rollercoaster Tycoon tomorrow, loved the original so quite eager to check it out!
  17. Thanks for sharing, just got FM2020
  18. Hated that evil bitch, no way I'm watching the show about her
  19. I enjoyed both Anathem and Seveneves, but didn't love them... Think for me Stephenson is a bit hit and miss. From big names in contemporary sci-fi, I think I like John Scalzi the best. Humorous, fast-paced, traditional. Reminds me of Heinlein a bit. The most recent sci fi novel that I read and really adored was A Memory Called Empire by Arkady Martine. I mentioned it earlier in this thread, a fantastic read.
  20. Yes, Anathem and Seveneves. Why?

    Cooking

How was that Bolognese, @Tommy? I made Flammkuchen today... Think I went overboard with cheese a bit, but other than that, it turned out quite nice.
  22. It felt like a horror B-Movie for 15 minutes there not in a bad sense though, as instead of being scary, it made laugh
  23. Just finished watching Episode 1... well, you weren't joking about the monsters Really enjoyed it otherwise, and now I want to know what happens next... It's definitely a weird show though
