You're both also missing the (literal) elephant in the room.

Look at UFC PPV numbers and look at their main and co main events. For some reason, probably involving homoeroticism, people specifically want to watch BIG men wrestle and fight. This is true across all combat sports. AEW has never embraced this and will continue to struggle as long as it goes ignored. There is a reason there are many talented wrestlers who weren't welcome in the big time. They're tiny and the general public audience doesn't care to see them.

I agree size is important but charisma and showmanship to get people invested is the main thing. CM Punk and Conor McGregor are the first examples I can think of.

The very minimum I expect is somebody looks like they go to a gym. Then you're looking at ring psychology and the ability to get people invested in a good story. Eddie Guerrero and Rey Mysterio were great at this.

Khan doesnt get that and only seems to want to push people he can relate too. Adam Cole, The Young Bucks, Orange Cassidy, Wheeler Useless, Jungle Boy. Its as if lifting weights is a deterrent in AEW.

Loosing money was the wrong wording. I mean he's not making the money he could be making. And as I said if he wants to do that to keep that core fan base happy that's up to him. And before you say aew is not making money we don't have that information. And before you come up with some reason as to why aew isn't making money there have been articles written online about it that disagree with eachother. The fact is no one knows if it making money or not for sure

They're definitely not profitable. Khan and Meltzer wouldn't be able to hide there delight if they were.

Brandon Thurston seems like the best person to follow for this stuff and he's estimated previously between $30-$40 a year. To put that in to context, Jarrett's gone on record and estimated the entire money The  Carter Family put in to TNA was around $30m.

It's just sad that for the first time ever there's somebody that's able to run a Wrestling company on a big TV network that doesn't need to care about making a profit, and that person is Tony Khan. People say AEW is good for the Wrestling business, it isn't, it's good for the people who can get jobs out of this. However anybody outside the wrestling bubble who watches any of the nonsense you see on AEW will be immediately turn off. And that makes life a lot harder for TNA or any other company that are putting on a solid show every week to reach more viewers and sponsors in the short and long term.

@Dave wrestleconomics thinks aew is making money. We could go back and fourth your source vs mine. The fact is there are people out there who seem to know what they are talking about who think it is making money and there are people who don't. We don't know.

Personally I don't care if it is or isn't. If someone wants to put a product out there for neish fans and loose money fair play. I wish more people would put media out there and not make money. There's loads of stuff I would like to see made that won't because it isn't profitable.

Also most aew fans watch wwe as well. A lot of them watch independent wrestling as well. They know wrestling. To say they live in a bubble isn't true.

I can promise you AEW is not making money. If they were we wouldn't hear the end of it.

Tony Khan has said they are making money. If they're not making the money he'd like them to make that might be why he won't say how much.

It's fair enough if you think they aren't. But from what I can gather wrestle economics seems like a reliable source. And I could find loads of knowledgeable people who think they are. I think its fair to assume they have thought about why tony khan hasn't said how much they are making and dont consider that it means they definitely aren't.  Like I said I could also find people who think they aren't. The fact is neither of us have actually proven our point.

Independent wrestling is so great. The event was delayed by 20 minutes because they couldn't get 400 people in fast enough and they didn't have enough chairs. But that disorganisation gives it its character I think. That and the fact that is doesn't take it self to seriously.

Was a great show. Finally saw someone put through a chair close up, finally saw Simon Miller, saw a referee beat a wrestler and get a great reaction. Michael Oku was there aswell. Great night

Maybe not a heel turn for cody rhodes but got to be a tweener at least. Will lead to a heel turn surely.

Anyway I thought Saturday nights main event was very good. Despite not being that long all the matches were at least good.

I don't know a lot about tna. But from what I gather they have resigned tessa blanchard who is the most hated women in wrestling. Probably not the best idea.

I'm indifferent about it. It happened over five years ago. She's apologised to the woman involved who has forgiven her.

Given she was arguably on par with any woman 2017-2019 from a performance perspective, she's missed out on a boatload of cash from either AEW or WWE in the last five years. She's was streets ahead of Britt Baker for example.

At what point do we allow somebody to show they've changed?

I know the IWC get a fetish over blacklisting people, but the people that are vocally complaining don't watch TNA anyway.

He's on Cbeebies doing the night time story on New Years Day so I can't see him changing character any time soon.
