Stefan Ilsanker - RB Leipzig to Eintracht Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt want to sign the experienced 41 times capped Austrian international defensive midfielder Stefan Ilsanker from RB Leipzig. With long term injuries to Swiss midfielder Gelson Fernandes and to the Spanish midfielder Lucas Torro, Frankfurt are in urgent need to add some more players to their midfield.

Ilsanker who is 30, is an experienced campaigner who is reliable, yet he wouldn't command a large transfer fee.

It's been made official, Stefan Ilsanker has joined Frankfurt for a transfer fee of a mere 500,000. The Austrian international defensive midfielder will add much needed cover and experience to Frankfurt's midfield.

I'm personally not much of a fan of Ilsanker but for such a low fee he's definitely a good option for the depth of the squad. With the Euros coming up in the summer he also needs more playing time than he was getting at RB.

I agree, he's not an amazing player, but he does a decent job as a ball winner and he will add some depth to our injury stricken central midfield area. For 500,000, Frankfurt have bought him for as cheap as chips.

As you suggest, this transfer suits all parties. RB Leipzig have freed some space in their stacked squad, Frankfurt have gotten themselves an experienced and reliable midfielder and Ilsanker himself knows that this move will give him much more playing time in view of making the Austrian national team squad for Euro 2020.
