Michael
The score is 3-3 currently between Hamburg V Schalke and Schalke have just had their defender Cisse sent-off with 20 minutes of regulation time left to play. It's all happening here on the opening day of the 2 Bundesliga season in Hamburg.
Michael
Glatzel scores a last minute goal to give Hamburg the lead! It's Glatzel's 2nd goal of the match and surely gives Hamburg the win against 10 man Schalke. Hamburg 4-3 Schalke

Moderator Tommy Posted July 28, 2023 Author Moderator Share Posted July 28, 2023 Damn, what a shame I've missed that. I've looked at the line-ups. So many new signings. Meanwhile we have 2 new signings while 9 players left us.

I hope I am wrong, but I would be surprised if they finish in the top 6, let alone finish in 4th position. Losing important players this summer like Kownacki, Karbownik, Klarer, Hennings and Hendrix, while not replacing them adequately is a blow for the club in my opinion. Fortuna Dusseldorf have actually signed 3 new players, but the signings are pretty much underwhelming in my opinion. Vincent Vermeij and Yannick Englehardt were brought in from Freiburg's reserves team. Vermeij is a forward who is hardly on the level of what Kownacki or Hennings are at. I can see Dusseldorf struggling to be effective in attack if Verneij leads the line. While I can't even see Englehardt starting regularly in midfield for Dusseldorf, as they already have better existing midfielders. Their 3rd signing was that of young Polish goalkeeper Karol Niemczycki. While there have been good reviews about him, he is still really a prospect and there is no way he will replace the impressive Kastenmeier just yet. In fact, the young Pole will struggle to play even one game this upcoming season if Kastenmeier stays fit. So all in all, I don't think that Dusseldorf have done well in the transfer window this summer. Hopefully they will bring in a couple of handy new players before the transfer window closes. But as it stands, I think that the club have a tough season ahead of them.

But as it stands, I think that the club have a tough season ahead of them. Right, I forgot about Niemczycki, because we really didn't even need another goalkeeper. But apparently that signing was done in correspondence with Kastenmeier, who felt like he needed a challenge for his spot in goal. But our pre-season has been going well, and we played quite well in those friendlies. I agree that we are a bit thin on some positions, but we also got some young talents who might step up. Düsseldorf born Jamil Siebert came back from loan from Victoria Köln, where he was really impressive, and he might be able to shine for us. Young Elione Fernandes Neto is only 17, and he's been quite impressive in pre-season, so I think he could play a good role this season. And most of the players said that the squad being so small has brought them closer together. So maybe we're in for a surprise. As long as we finish in the top half of the table, I'm happy. Chadwell
Sorry I was quiet this summer. That final day was... brutal. I'd been hiding in a hole, and only came out when I had heard something about HSV signing Pherai.
Moderator Tommy Posted July 29, 2023 Author Moderator Share Posted July 29, 2023 Watched bits and pieces of the Konferenz earlier. So Magdeburg's Atik is still a massive cunt. Got a yellow for a pathetic dive and had the nerve to throw a tantrum over it. I hate that guy.
Michael
Ginczek scores to give Fortuna Dusseldorf the lead against Hertha Berlin. It's no less than Dusseldorf deserve, as they have had the bulk of the possession for most of the match so far. Interestingly enough, Hertha manager Pal Dardai is playing both his sons Marton and Palko for Hertha in this match this evening.
Moderator Tommy Posted July 29, 2023 Author Moderator Share Posted July 29, 2023 Fucking hell. Good win this. Not everything was perfect, but we beat Hertha BSC Berlin 1:0. What more do you want? Defensively we looked really solid. Attacking wise you could see that we still lack a winger or a creative attacker, but it was good win nontheless against a team whose Squad is worth three times as much as ours. When I walked out of the stadium, I still hear people complain fs. Get a grip you miserable cunts. Anyway, here's my favourite picture I took today. Almost couldn't get a clear view of it because the Hertha fans were firing up flares:
