Michael 1,117
Girona missed the chance to move into 1st position in the La Liga table yesterday evening, as they drew at home against Athletic Bilbao. Girona's top scorer, the Ukrainian centre-forward Dovbyk, was injured for this match and unfortunately couldn't play. Girona really missed his presence up-front. However, Girona's other Ukrainian star, Tsyhankov, gave Girona the lead in the 54th minute. A cross from the left flank, found its way to the onrushing Tsyhankov, who found himself in some space and his first time shot, was a clinical finish, that found the bottom hand corner of the net. Tsyhankov's goal, looked like it would give Girona yet another win in the La Liga. However, Bilbao's Inaki Williams scored in the 67th minute, to equalise for the Basque side. Girona created some chances after that, but there were no more goals and the match would finish in a 1-1 draw. The point earned from this match means that Girona move top of the table, level on points with Real Madrid, but Real Madrid take 1st place on goal difference, with Girona in 2nd place. Michael 1,117
It's a big game for Girona at home against Valencia in the La Liga. Girona really need to win to keep the pressure on Real Madrid at the top of the La Liga table, if they have genuine ambitions of winning the league this season. Girona have Dovbyk back for this match, as he returns from injury, so he will partner fellow Ukrainian Tsyhankov in the Girona offense. While another Ukrainian forward Yaremchuk, will represent Valencia and hope to spoil the party for Girona. Although Valencia's performances have improved in recent matches, I confidently think that Girona can get the win that they want today. It should be an entertaining match, as both sides play a very good technical game.
Michael 1,117
Valencia take the lead through a goal by Duro, on the counter-attack. Girona caught out at the back, as a long pass found Duro against the run of play, as Girona have been pressuring Valencia for much of this 2nd half. Duro kept his composure to score the goal and give Valencia the lead. It's a huge goal for Valencia and it will be interesting to see how Girona respond and if they can get something out of this match today. Michael 1,117
Stuani's header from Tsyhankov's cross, forces a point blank block by the Valencia keeper Mamardashvilli.

Michael 1,117
Girona look to seal their win as the onrushing Savio fires home a swerving shot into the net! But the goal is called off, after an earlier offside in the build up to the goal. Nonetheless, this is a big win today for Girona, as they were really tested, having gone a goal down and they've shown real character to eventually win this match.
