True, but we've not been as bad as you'd think in the rest of our fixtures. We've lost to all three promoted sides. Even 4 points from those games would put us up to 6th. The table is still very close. But it's also a reflection of how far below expectations we were for many games last season, which has given us the chance to improve. What it also shows, is that if we had repeated all of our results from last season along with those three defeats to newly promoted teams, we'd be last with 6 points.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted December 3, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted December 3, 2019 Leicester +11 Newcastle +7 Liverpool +6 Burnley / Everton +5 Brighton / Bournemouth +2 Crystal Palace +1 Chelsea / Southampton -1 West Ham / Man Utd -4 Man City / Arsenal -5 Wolves -7 Watford -8 Tottenham -11 - No change for Man Utd, Arsenal or Wolves after they all drew with newly-promoted sides. - Crystal Palace winning at Burnley, Liverpool beating Brighton and Tottenham beating Bournemouth are all repeated results from last season so no change for these sides. - Newcastle will be pleased to draw with Man City on Saturday but still drop 2 points compared to their win from last season, while Pep's men gain 1. - West Ham achieved a surprise +3 point swing in their win at Stamford Bridge, which sends Chelsea back into the negatives. - Southampton's win over Watford sees them improve on last season's draw by 2 points, while Watford are second from bottom here now having slipped to -8. - Leicester finally take their place as the most improved side in this table by winning their home game with Everton which they lost last season, jumping to +11 and sending their opponents down to +5.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted December 3, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted December 3, 2019 Midweek fixtures and last season's corresponding results: Crystal Palace v Bournemouth (home win) Burnley v Man City (away win) Chelsea v Aston Villa (N/A) Leicester v Watford (home win) Man Utd v Tottenham (away win) Southampton v Norwich (N/A) Wolves v West Ham (home win) Liverpool v Everton (home win) Sheffield Utd v Newcastle (N/A) Arsenal v Brighton (draw) No opportunity for any of the top three to boost their scores as Leicester and Liverpool can only repeat wins at best and Newcastle face a newly-promoted side. Burnley and Everton have the opportunity to make up ground at the top if they can find unlikely results against Man City or Liverpool respectively. Arsenal will be eyeing a two point boost with a win over Brighton. Bournemouth can stretch their current 1 point advantage over Crystal Palace if they avoid another defeat at Selhurst Park. Mid-table Chelsea and Southampton are stuck where they are for this set of fixtures. Mourinho has to repeat Tottenham's win at Old Trafford from the other dugout if he wants to avoid his side slipping even further below -11. Wolves continue to struggle in this table and can only retain their -7 at best, having beaten West Ham last season. Watford have the opportunity to improve on their -8 on Wednesday but only if they can pull of a result at the King Power Stadium.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted December 8, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted December 8, 2019 So there really wasn't much change in midweek. - Chelsea, Southampton and Newcastle saw no change to their scores as they faced newly-promoted sides. - The majority of the results elsewhere were repeats of last season: Palace beat Bournemouth at home, Man City won at Burnley, Leicester beat Watford, Wolves beat West Ham and Liverpool beat Everton, so all ten of these sides also sit on the same scores. - Manchester United enjoyed the only three point gain of the week, beating Spurs to make up for their 3-0 home defeat last season. This almost sees Man Utd break even for the season while Spurs slide all the way down to -14. - Brighton were the other side to profit in midweek, turning last season's draw at the Emirates into a win, and moving onto +4 as a result. Arsenal slip down further onto -6. Full standings after 15 matches: Leicester +11 Newcastle +7 Liverpool +6 Everton / Burnley +5 Brighton +4 Bournemouth +2 Crystal Palace +1 Chelsea / Southampton / Man Utd -1 West Ham -4 Man City -5 Arsenal -6 Wolves -7 Watford -8 Tottenham -14
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted December 8, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted December 8, 2019 Here's the state of play before this weekend's fixtures started, and the results from last season: Everton v Chelsea (home win) Bournemouth v Liverpool (away win) Tottenham v Burnley (home win) Watford v Crystal Palace (home win) Man City v Man Utd (home win) Aston Villa v Leicester (N/A) Newcastle v Southampton (home win) Norwich v Sheffield Utd (N/A) Brighton v Wolves (home win) West Ham v Arsenal (home win) As we already know, Everton, Liverpool and Tottenham have delivered repeat victories to maintain their current scores. Watford have dropped yet more points by failing to repeat their win over Crystal Palace, Man Utd have gained a second 3 point upgrade in a matter of days while their local rivals plummet further. On Sunday, Leicester and Newcastle both have no chance to improve on their current table-leading scores, though Bruce's men could lose a few points. Bottom half Wolves and Arsenal both have the opportunity to recover some points this weekend in away games, while West Ham could suffer if they don't repeat their win over Arsenal from last season.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted December 9, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted December 9, 2019 New standings: Leicester +11 Newcastle +7 Liverpool +6 Everton / Burnley +5 Brighton / Bournemouth / Crystal Palace / Man Utd +2 Chelsea / Southampton -1 Arsenal -3 Wolves -6 West Ham -7 Man City -8 Watford -10 Tottenham -14 - Leicester are the only team to face newly-promoted opponents this week so chilled out in the knowledge that their +11 differential remains untouched. - Everton's timely win over Chelsea maintains their +5 differential, while Chelsea stay negative and rooted in mid-table. - Liverpool and Bournemouth also as you were as the league leaders repeated their win at The Cherries. - Spurs at least retained their 3 points over Burnley from last season, evading a slip even further below -14. Burnley miss the chance to improve on their impressive score of +5. - Watford drop yet more points as they are only able to muster a draw at home to Crystal Palace. - Man City plummet to the bottom three, suffering a home defeat in the Manchester derby that they won last season. Solskjaer's men move back to a positive differential after back to back three point swings. - Newcastle's late win over Southampton sees them retain the three points from the corresponding fixture last season and keeps them in second place here. - Brighton drop a couple of points after failing to win at home to Wolves. The visitors continue their slow recovery with the extra point from Sunday's game moving them up to -6. - Arsenal's win at West Ham is a full three point turnaround from last year, halving their negative differential and inflicting serious damage on their opponents who drop down to -7 overall.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted December 9, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted December 9, 2019 Next week: Liverpool v Watford (home win last season) Burnley v Newcastle (away win) Chelsea v Bournemouth (home win) Leicester v Norwich (N/A) Sheff Utd v Aston Villa (N/A) Southampton v West Ham (away win) Man United v Everton (home win) Wolves v Tottenham (away win) Arsenal v Man City (away win) Crystal Palace v Brighton (away win) No good news for those languishing further down the table. Watford have to get a result at Anfield to make any improvement this week, while Man City, West Ham and Tottenham all have to repeat tricky away wins merely to breakeven. Newcastle will have to repeat their win at Burnley from last season if they hope to retain second place ahead of Liverpool, unless the league leaders fail to secure three points at home to Watford. Newcastle may also be under threat from Everton and Burnley, who both lost their next fixtures last season and therefore have the opportunity to improve upon their scores of +5. Arsenal could break even on 0 points if they can take all three points against Manchester City. Wolves also have the chance to improve on their score of -6 if they can get a result at home against Tottenham. Leicester will extend their stay at the top on +11 for at least another week, with another 'dead rubber' against a newly-promoted side on the agenda. Palace and Brighton, both sat on +2, face off in the weekend's last fixture, where Brighton have to repeat their Selhurst Park success from last season just to stay alongside their rivals.

All other sides were involved in some way this weekend as Sheffield United and Aston Villa played each other. - Liverpool beating Watford, West Ham's win at Southampton, Tottenham's late win at Wolves and Man City's success at Arsenal are all repeated results from last season so no change for these eight sides. - Burnley took the first full three point gain of the weekend with victory over Newcastle. This sees the Magpies plummet from 2nd to 6th while they're replaced as Leicester's closest rivals by Dyche's men. - Bournemouth also notch up a +3 with victory at Stamford Bridge. The Cherries enter the top five while Lampard's Blues slide to an unflattering score of -4. - Sunday's only change saw Man Utd slip to a differential of exactly 0 as they were unable to repeat their win over Everton at Old Trafford. A gained point for the Toffees puts them joint 3rd on +6. - Monday saw Brighton drop two points, unable to repeat their win at Selhurst Park over Palace, who gain a point in return.

Everton and Burnley with tough games to defend their current positions. Bournemouth could go up to 2nd with a win. Palace and Newcastle in a six pointer. Leicester with a chance to improve on their +11 and Spurs still stuck on -14 even if they beat Chelsea.

Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted December 22, 2019 Author Subscriber Posted December 22, 2019 A lot of change this weekend despite being a game down with Liverpool playing abroad. New standings: Leicester +11 Burnley +8 Newcastle +7 Liverpool +6 Bournemouth +5 Everton +4 Crystal Palace / Brighton +0 Southampton / Chelsea -1 Arsenal -2 Man Utd -3 Wolves -6 West Ham / Watford -7 Man City -8 Tottenham -17 What happened? - Liverpool and West Ham had no fixture so see no change to their scores, along with Southampton, Brighton and Wolves who played the three promoted sides. - Burnley's win at Bournemouth and Man City's win over Leicester are the only repeated results from last season so none of these four see any change in their scores. - Everton suffered a two point hit on Saturday lunchtime after failing to repeat their win over Arsenal at home last season. These sees the Gunners inch slightly closer to breaking even again as they move up to -2 overall. - Newcastle returned to the top three with a win over Crystal Palace. Hodgson's men take a three point hit here, moving the previous leaders in this table onto a differential of exactly 0. - Both of Sunday's fixtures saw a full reversal. Man Utd's loss at Watford sends them back into the negatives while the three point boost for the Hornets sees defending league Champions Man City slip to second from bottom in these standings. - Tottenham are now 17 points worse off than last season, excluding ties with newly promoted sides, after losing to Chelsea. Lampard's men gain a few places in this table with a three point swing in their favour.

Spurs once again have no opportunity to improve their dismal differential. Man City have a rare opportunity to gain some points at Wolves. Chelsea will fancy their chances of beating Southampton at Stamford Bridge to go positive overall.

Saints move into a positive differential for the first time in a while, Chelsea slip back below 0. - Ayew's late winner for Palace over West Ham sees them gain two extra points over last season's draw. West Ham slip to -8 following more squandered points. - Wolves continue their long and slow recovery, improving their differential to -4 by turning last season's draw with Manchester City into a win. Guardiola's men are now dangerously close to having lost a double figured amount of points compared to the same fixtures last season.

Subscriber Dan+ Posted January 2, 2020 Subscriber Posted January 2, 2020 We are pissing this and it's obvious why. We've become ruthless against 'the rest' where we frequently struggled under Puel. From games against 6th-20th we've picked up 44 points from a possible 48. Superb really.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted January 2, 2020 Author Subscriber Posted January 2, 2020 Time for an update: Standings before the New Year's Day set of fixtures: Leicester +13 Burnley +8 Everton +7 Liverpool +6 Newcastle +4 Bournemouth / Brighton +3 Crystal Palace +2 Southampton / Chelsea +1 Man Utd -3 Wolves -4 Arsenal / Watford -7 West Ham / Man City -9 Tottenham -17 - No change for Watford, Norwich or Man City as they played newly promoted sides. - Repeat results were as follows so no change for these sides: Southampton draw with Crystal Palace, Man Utd win at Burnley and Liverpool beat Wolves at Anfield. - Brighton started Saturday with a three point swing in their favour, beating Bournemouth at the Amex. This moves Brighton back up to a +3 differential and drags Howe's men down to the same position in what can be considered a true six-pointer. - Everton's win at Newcastle saw them gain three points as well, having blown a two goal lead in the North East last season. Everton and Newcastle swap scores as a result of Bruce's men dropping three. - Leicester's second string took all three points at West Ham, allowing them to extend their positive differential to +13, while West Ham's drop to -9 underlines why Pellegrini got the boot after this game. - Chelsea continue to yo-yo in these standings on an almost weekly basis. This time a win at The Emirates Stadium over Arsenal sees them return to a positive score by overturning last season's defeat. Mikel Arteta has his work cut out to improve Arsenal's damaging position on -7.
Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted January 2, 2020 Author Subscriber Posted January 2, 2020 Onto New Year's Day. - Brighton's draw at home to Chelsea sees them gain a point and Lampard's men drop back below 0 once again as they fail to repeat their win on the South Coast last season. - Burnley take no damage from their home defeat to Aston Villa with no corresponding result to compare to from last season. - Leicester's repeat win at St. James' Park sees both them and Newcastle unchanged. - Tottenham miss the chance to improve on their score of -17, losing at Southampton for the second year in a row and leaving both teams' scores unchanged here too. - Watford begin to improve on their differential by turning last year's home defeat to Wolves into all three points this time around. Wolves, surprisingly, drop back to -7 despite their lofty league position. - Man City's home success over Everton is a repeat result from last season, leaving the defending champions on a differential of -9. - Crystal Palace faced Norwich and therefore stay on +2 for the time being. - West Ham's emphatic win over Bournemouth is a full reversal from last season and sees them gain 3 points to haul themselves away from the bottom of the barrel somewhat. Bournemouth have lost 6 points in the space of a few days and return to a differential of 0. - Arsenal's win over Man Utd doesn't see them make any ground as they also won this fixture last season. - Liverpool won't make any gain or loss when they face newly-promoted Sheffield United this evening. Up to date standings: Leicester +13 Burnley +8 Everton +7 Liverpool +6 Newcastle / Brighton +4 Crystal Palace +2 Southampton +1 Bournemouth +0 Chelsea -1 Man Utd -3 Watford -4 West Ham -6 Wolves / Arsenal -7 Man City -9 Tottenham -17

Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted January 12, 2020 Author Subscriber Posted January 12, 2020 Very little change at all this week, which is surprising when you look at some of the results from last year: - No change for West Ham, Man Utd or Man City in their games against newly-promoted sides. - Five of the other seven games have seen the same outcomes as last year: Arsenal's draw at Palace, Everton's win over Brighton, Southampton's win at Leicester, Newcastle's draw at Wolves and Liverpool's win at Tottenham. - Chelsea were the only team to gain any points on Saturday as Burnley were unable to emulate their draw at Stamford Bridge from last year. Chelsea then yo-yo back above 0 points while Burnley's -1 from this weekend pulls them down to joint 2nd with Everton. - Watford are the other team to gain some points this week. Their win at Bournemouth sees them edge ever closer to the break-even point having been languishing near the bottom for most of the season. Bournemouth, on the other hand, go from a neutral standing into the negatives, perhaps surprising that they aren't suffering more when you look at their actual league position compared to last season. Full standings following Gameweek 22: Leicester +13 Burnley / Everton +7 Liverpool +6 Newcastle / Brighton +4 Crystal Palace +2 Southampton / Chelsea +1 Bournemouth -1 Watford -2 Man Utd -3 West Ham -6 Wolves / Arsenal -7 Man City -9 Tottenham -17

Subscriber RandoEFC+ Posted January 20, 2020 Author Subscriber Posted January 20, 2020 Big changes this weekend: - No change for Arsenal, Brighton, Bournemouth due to facing newly-promoted sides. - Liverpool's win over Man Utd at Anfield was the only repeat result from last season from the other seven games. I think this is the first time there has been this few repeated results but I couldn't say for sure without looking back through the thread. - Tottenham gain a point for what feels like the first time this season as Watford fail to repeat their win over Spurs at Vicarage Road. - Despite taking a point from The Etihad, Palace drop two points in this table having won their last season. Man City improve by +1 but remain heavily in the negatives. - Wolves achieve a three point swing with victory at Southampton, coming from 2-0 down to win. - Everton are unable to repeat their win from last season at West Ham and lose two points as a result. The Hammers gain one to continue their steady recovery. - Newcastle's win over Chelsea is another +3 for them. Chelsea seem to have bounced above and below 0 for about 7 gameweeks in a row. - Burnley take the final and most significant three point swing of the weekend with victory over Leicester, which sees them reduce the 6 point gap to zero, as the two clubs now share top spot in these standings, which Leicester have held in their own right for the majority of the season. Full standings: Leicester / Burnley +10 Newcastle +7 Liverpool +6 Everton +5 Brighton +4 Crystal Palace +0 Bournemouth -1 Southampton / Chelsea -2 Watford / Man Utd -3 Wolves -4 West Ham -5 Arsenal -7 Man City -8 Tottenham -16

They could be on anything between -1 or -7 by the end of the month.
