  1. Some news coming from Canada. Apparently our third wave is hitting our "young people harder".

That means the vaccine is doing it's job for the old people. I can't say it's "good news" as nobody deserves to suffer, but the good bit comes from the effectiveness of the vaccine over here.

  2. I'm meeting Dan next time I go to the UK.

Other than that, nearly met DDW a few years ago, but fell ill a few days prior. I had to leave a Sydney FC game early and vomited on the way back.

Alianza Lima have been the most successful club in Peru, but the return of Farfan will no doubt boost the team. I am sure that returning to live in Lima after having played in Moscow for the past 3 years, will also take some time to adapt to. But even at 36, I think that he can shine playing in the Peruvian League, with all due respect given to the other Peruvian clubs as well.

I'm sure he will shine. The quality of our league is horrendous, and Farfan still looks good for the NT and did at times for Lokomotiv. I'd be very surprised if he doesn't finish in the top 3 for top scorers!

    Yes.

I mean, you could tell us. I understand if it's private though :)

Just seemed odd, the last thread they posted in seemed like just their usual spam. I'm assuming that's why?

I live in Wollongong, we're fine. I've lived through them before too, back in 99 there was some nasty ones on my street.

Some people I know on social media are marking themselves "safe" when I know they live in apartment blocks or on hills xD Whoopers

Yeah I was far from the flood too but I still felt the affects of it with them shutting off water and power. I've seen some of the images and the scenes are nasty. Not getting too much coverage either, a Youtuber I watch had to remind us.

And there was me thinking Peru needed to be taken seriously as a country after all your hard work representing, @Mpache!

There's a saying back at home. "Peru is a wonderful country but our politicians are awful".

Even in our "progression" times the people in charge were crooks. The last 5 presidents are either dead or in jail now.

Most South American politicians are bad but I think we're near the bottom with Brazil. They are a big competition for clown show politics.

Wow, just did some reading. So the dude has been a member of Opus Dei for decades, practices celibacy, represses his sexual desire by thinking about Virgin Mary, and self-flagellates by wearing a cilice. Fucking hell.

    Yeah, it's awful.

The past year we've regressed a lot. We've advanced a lot since Fujimori left office, and all that has regressed alone since the pandemic started.

A politician dressed as Porky the Pig, what the fuck xD?

Well he's actually the one on the left in that specific photo, but he has dressed as Porky on other occasions. Couldn't find the photo.

Anyways, welcome to Peruvian politics and non-cable TV! xD

  9. My friend told me after the Peruvian protests last November that the next worry for the country is a populist government. He was spot on. Lopez Aliaga is in running and he's been dubbed as Porky as he dressed like the character from Looney Tunes. He's our Trump, talks a lot. Already threatened to ban anime due to religion (which is an awful idea as we've got great ties with Japan) and he's saying he's going to do a bunch of things to win in his favour.

Unfortunately, the other candidate is worse. So we're in a terrible state for the next elections.

Good to hear! A fun fact but an uncle was actually a trialist for the Sinopharm vaccine, or whatever the Chinese vaccine is called. Apologies if I am being ignorant.

But he is vaccinated after those trials, he was a bit of a risk as well as he's in his 60's.

Chill, I'm just messing. It is not unusual for the club management/scouting to ask opinions of their players/ex-players about potential signings, so of course you can't rule it out. For me it just sounded more as acknowledgement that Tapia is doing well, and should be ready to seize the opportunity if/when it opens up.

Now, recommending Tapia to Bayern is not that hard. Could he recommend Werder to Tapia though AND persuade him to join on much lower wages? Now that would be an achievement!

I know. Apologies if I sounded a bit serious xD

Tapia definitely does deserve a move up, but I'm not entirely sure Bayern is the bests option. Not right now anyways, as Bayern are the best team in the world and that might be just too big a jump. He's one of the best South American DM's today but I'm still not that sure he's quite "best in the world" standard. Think he's more suited for a Chelsea, Atletico Madrid or Juventus.

I know he said it, I read it. I also have no doubts that if asked, he would recommend his compatriot who is currently doing well, the question is though, will Bayern actually ask him to recommend aynone xD

I don't know how Bayern is run, but I know that many ex footballers are gaining unnecessary power either in the managerial game or as directors, like Pirlo, Lampard and Riquelme.

So you can never rule it out.

Pretty sure he said that he would recommend Tapia if Bayern asked him to recommend a player :)

Yeah, that is what he said.

It is true however, because he spoke to El Comercio and if he didn't say those things, he would put the press in their place as he has done many times before.

He doesn't like it when words are put in his mouth. He is pretty vocal on Twitter.
