Peru is a very gullable nation.

It's all of South America + Spain who has their April Fools on December 28th, but yes here it's very easy to say anything and have people believe it.

    December Fools Day?

    Nah, not for me Clive.

It's called "Dia de los inocentess" which translates to "innocents day".

In Peru, we don't know the existence of "April Fools", so I am taking advantage.

One of my mates in my group chat said a young Peruvian is going to Ajax, and it's now rebounding on the Peruvian press. It's become so easy to sell whitesmoke.

Probably not many considering your cry wolf routine.

I’ve never lied dude, or rarely do. It’s just you who doesn’t want to believe me, even with proof presented.

  4. April Fools on Twitter is awesome. I can lie about a Peruvian transfer and my followers from Peru won't get it, cos as far as we're concerned, our April Fools is in December.

Depends how many under 50’s actually take the vaccine I reckon. All you need is one mutation, as string of ICU admissions at you’re at a critical point again. Especially in a country as densely populated as the UK.

The only country that seems to have a wide array of Anti-vaxxers are Canada and USA. The idiots up here believe they are superior and vitamin D will prevent them getting the virus. Someone told me 94% of people in the UK so far have gotten the vaccine, and it's unlikely for the virus to mutate into something resistant off just one person who has it as this thing mutates slowly.

I would think more optimistically to be honest. From having more than 1600 deaths per day at one point to less than 140 isn't easy to accomplish and I think the lockdowns and vaccines have definitely helped.

My friend told me after the Peruvian protests last November that the next worry for the country is a populist government. He was spot on. Lopez Aliaga is in running and he's been dubbed as Porky as he dressed like the character from Looney Tunes. He's our Trump, talks a lot. Already threatened to ban anime due to religion (which is an awful idea as we've got great ties with Japan) and he's saying he's going to do a bunch of things to win in his favour.

Unfortunately, the other candidate is worse. So we're in a terrible state for the next elections.

Porky isn't winning so far. *phew*

Alberto Beingolea is one of the favourites, which I find madness. He used to be a sports journalist. A former footballer in George Forsyth is also in the running, but he's not expected to win.

  7. @DeadLinesman I just did some research. The only way you'd go back into lockdown in September/October is if another mutation shows up, and it's vaccine resistant. Which is unlikely given how slow this thing mutates. If I were you, I would close all borders with Brazil though, Bolsonaro is doing nothing to stop the spread. The rest of South America barring Paraguay has closed Brazil off now.

Of course they will, because people were meeting anyway. Now it’ll be 12/20 in a garden getting boozed up and mixing. If people don’t think lockdown 3 will be here by Sep/Oct, they’re dreaming.

If there will be a lockdown 3 by Sep/Oct, then what are the vaccines for? Genuine question.

    Aguero confirmed leaving

One of the best players of the Premier League era. Had longevity and in his prime he was sensational.

It's a shame he's never worked for Argentina, as if he did they most certainly would have won something.

Now the question, will he go to Barcelona or back home to Independiente? I think the former is more likely.

Thanks both of you - nice thing about today is that it's International weekend and we have no reason to get sad and upset 'cos our lot will be sitting at home and not making us weep again for another week!  Wales today, England and Germany tomorrow - too much excitement for an old man in one weekend!

Take care you two - it will soon be all over!

    Happy birthday!

Is it just cases hitting young people harder, or severe illness from having it?

It's the reason why old people were targeting with the vaccine first as they were more likely to need the care from hospitals and health services. Younger people are more likely to recover/less likely to be severely affected as their immune systems are more likely to be able to find antibodies to fight it.

Both, if I read things correctly.

Apparently 54% of the population that gets the virus is infected by the UK or Brazilian strains. I know UK has a slightly more deadly strain, not sure about Brazil, but that is a higher risk of reinfection.

The ones at risk are the ones in their 30's-60's. The elderly will survive this third wave, which is the good news of all this.

  12. Quote

On one hand, vaccinations are slowly making an impact for certain populations, including front-line health-care workers and the elderly — with the death toll in long-term care dropping dramatically as vaccination rates have picked up.

The rest of it doesn't sound good, but the quote above is the bit that we all wanted to hear. I just hope they speed up vaccinations here.
