  1. That is just international tournaments KOs rarely continue the momentum of the group stages.
  2. Despite its name and popularity, the French fries are not French. The origins can be found in Belgium, where historians claim potatoes were being fried in the late-1600s. According to Belgian lore, poor villagers living in Meuse Valley would often ate small fried fish they caught in the river. During the winter months when the river froze, fishing would become an impossible task and forced villagers to find other sources of food. This is when the villagers turned to the root plant, potatoes, slicing and frying them just like the way they prepared fish. American soldiers were first introduced to the fries while they were stationed in Belgium during World War I.
  3. Many sources say the crispy spuds were most likely invented in the country's northeast neighbor, Belgium. According to lore, the dish was born in Belgium in the winter of 1680, when the fried fish-loving denizens of a city called Namur had to find something else to cook when the local river froze over
  4. French fries were actually invented in Belgium
  5. Battle of Karansebes was fought as part of the Austro-Turkish wars. The Austrian army, stationed in anticipation of the Turkish attack, was made up of soldiers of different linguistic backgrounds. Night before the battle, some Austrian soldiers sneaked in alcohol and overtime everyone became drunk. Not understanding each other's language, the drunk Austrian soldiers had a fight which turned into a mass brawl and eventually 10,000 Austrian soldiers died in the ensuing violence. This makes it the worst case of friendly fire in history. When Turkish soldiers came the following day, expecting a heavy fight, they found everyone was dead already and took the city without doing anything. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Karánsebes

Went to sleep halfway between South Africa chase but I was pretty sure India would win. Nice to see Kohli Sharma finishing their T20 career on a high.
  9. From 2026 onwards all alcoholic beverages in Ireland must have cancer warning labels on them like the warning labels on cigarettes.

Batsmen with 10,000 Test runs and their achilles heel in terms of lowest average by countries 1. Sachin Tendulkar in Pakistan, avg 40.25 of 13 inngs in 10 matches (not bad by any means but still low compared to other Indian players in Pak) 2. Ricky Ponting in India, avg 26.48 of 25 inngs in 14 matches (woefully bad considering how much he has played there) 3. Jacques Kallis in England, avg 35.33 of 25 inngs in 15 matches (respectable but poor compared to his own teamates) 4. Rahul Dravid in South Africa, avg 29.71 of 22 inngs in 11 matches (poor but not surprising since prime South Africa at home was bane for nearly all subcon batsmen) 5. Alastair Cook in New Zealand, avg 27.13 of 15 inngs in 8 matches 6. Kumar Sangakara in West Indies, avg 34.00 of 7 inngs in 4 matches (not enough sample size really) 7. Brain Lara in India, avg 33.00 of 6 inngs in 3 matches (again low sample and surprised to see how he barely played in India) 8. Shivnarine Chanderpaul in Australia, avg 30.20 of 21 inngs in 11 matches (not a single century there despite playing enough) 9. Mahela Jawardene in South Africa, avg 27.88 of 16 inngs in 8 matches (same as Dravid) 10. Joe Root in Bangladesh, avg 24.50 of 4 inngs in 2 matches (low sample but bad considering other players also don't play much there but still have higher stats) 11. Allan Border in South Africa, avg 38.00 of 5 inngs in 3 matches 12. Steve Waugh in Sri Lanka, avg 16.60 of 5 inngs in 4 matches 13. Sunil Gavaskar in Sri Lanka, avg 37.30 of 6 inngs in 3 matches (same as Root, Sri Lanka were new in his time and others also barely played there but still have better stats) 14. Younis Khan in West Indies, avg 22.20 of 15 inngs in 8 matches (shockingly poor since Windies weren't all that great in his time, Inzimam faced a much stronger WI with Walsh Ambrose but avgs 50s in WI for reference)
  11. This game is more likely to go into extra time than England Slovakia
  12. Reportedly the worst presidential debate. One was constantly telling lies and the other couldn't make up a coherent sentence.
