Lol Ferrari. Bottas pumps out two fastest laps to get that second place back. Vettel will have to pass both of them to win now. Did Ferrari actually just give Kimi a second stop to try and trick Bottas and Mercedes into doing a second stop too?
-
Don't see what's so impressive about Ricciardo cruising past cars that are two seconds slower than him and basically not putting up a fight guys. Fair enough if he was doing Vettel and Bottas but he's not. Any of the top six guys cruising through the midfield is expected even on this track, doesn't make him driver of the day.
-
This will be a boring race now. Vettel might get past Bottas with the alternate strategy but otherwise meh.

I really hope the anti-Hamilton stance is a troll and not serious otherwise it goes to show F1 fans (German ones at least) are just as bad as football fans for blind bias.

4-1 as if we haven't signed a fucking centre half yet. I'm a better defender than Michael Keane and Jagielka is 37 it's not like the club haven't had years of warning that he's going to be over the hill come 2018. Can't be that hard to find a couple of centre backs that can stand in position, avoid passing the ball directly to pacey opposition attackers and don't have the turning circle of a cruise liner. Really is painful to watch.

2-0 down to a bang average French side after 35 minutes. This is our full strength team. The season starts in exactly two weeks. But it's only pre season so who cares. I'd love to think they'll turn up at Wolves in two weeks and completely ignore the entire season of evidence we were provided with last season that they won't but I can't because this team is fucking pathetic.

Raikkonen was consistently strong today, surprised he only ended up 3rd, don't know what happened on his last lap. Red Bull 7th and 12th when they came into this weekend as possible favourites. Bed well and truly shat there. Hartley might just save his F1 career yet. Some understated good performances recently. Hamilton might be a cunt but he delivers another great performance this afternoon. If tomorrow is dry and Ferrari get back to having the dominant car tomorrow will be interesting. Usually at the start here the grip is so much better on the side of the grid on the racing line that it can often be better to start 3rd than 2nd. It might not be as pronounced in the rain but Kimi could get the jump on Bottas at the start and end up being the one who can challenge for the win. Vettel will have a more difficult start from 4th on the dirty side of the grid. Last thing he needs is to get stuck behind a Gasly or a Sainz early on as this track is probably the worst non-street circuit for overtaking.

Don't think we'll see many faster times now. Hamilton's second hot lap was 7 seconds slower than the one before. Great job from Raikkonen getting in the top ten after being the last one to get onto inters. Ricciardo .
-
Leclerc struggled in the mixed conditions last Sunday so maybe an area he needs some work.
-
Ricciardo sneaks through by 3 tenths. Retarded decision by Red Bull to send him out on the Softs but got away with it. Force India having a great weekend here . Vandoorne's stock continuing to fall though.
-
Ricciardo at risk here.

We deserve to be relegated if that happens again. He needs time to clean up Ron and Steve's dreadful mess. Only justifiable to sack him when we get to about February and there's a serious risk of relegation.

Walcott is officially carrying a knock, as is Lookman. However there are rumours that Lookman is left out because he's joining Leipzig (seems likely) and that Walcott has a rift with Silva already (seems unlikely). Holgate apparently hasn't been given a squad number so no idea what's going on there. He's our best centre back at the club embarrassingly enough.

It is definitely a war of perception, has been since the campaigning for the referendum, and there's no doubt that the level of exaggeration and point scoring on both sides has completely diluted the opportunity for the general public to deal in facts and balanced views throughout the process.

@Danny did come back and admit he was 10 pints down when he posted that to be fair.

Everyone that posts in this thread regularly is more than capable of backing up their political views with sound argument whether they are 29th generation "propa Bri'ish" or they happen to have an Asian grandparent or two. Whether you support Remain or Leave I think you can look at the fact that it's been over two years since the referendum, and there has been very little progress towards a deal that needs to be struck in about 9 months' time. Recently two of the three main figures who have been working towards, well, something presumably, have resigned. The EU had all the leverage at the start, now how are they supposed to take this woman seriously that wasn't even originally pro-Brexit (but fair enough people change their mind and she might even have done that for reasons other than personal gain and the chance to become prime minister, who knows), then proceeded to call a snap election thinking that she would win by a landslide but instead was forced to make concessions to a Northern Irish party that nobody in Brussels has ever heard of in order to form a government, and now in two years has failed to agree on a strategy for Brexit with her foreign secretary and Brexit minister or whatever David Davis was called. If you actually look beyond "what's going on in the country" (which is what by the way? Eugh I really didn't want to get into another debate on this but here we are) and think about what Brussels and the other major players in Europe think of us right now, to them Theresa May is surely a laughing stock with us as a country not far behind her in those stakes for ending up with her running the show. I admit that Brexit might have some benefits. It will also have some drawbacks. However, nobody really knows whether we will end up better or worse because it's unknown territory in the modern day for us. What is clear though, is that we've already paid two years of political instability, arguably some international credibility, certainly some of our positive relations with other major countries, and look set to pay, according to Rees-Mogg, up to another 50 years of uncertainty, pain, or at least a lack of benefit, depending on how you interpret his words, all for something that might be better than what we already had. Now admittedly, I'm only in my 20s, I'm a teacher so obviously I won't be capable of commenting on a Conservative government in a fair or balanced manner, and I also left England to move all the way to the Isle of Man this time last year, so it probably doesn't matter that half of my undergraduate degree was in Economics, including specific modules on international trade, customs unions, globalisation in general but I'll share my viewpoint on the general level anyway. The thing with Economics is that nobody knows. It's unpredictable, and every small change you make as a policy maker could go in several different directions. During the module on trade unions etc, we had a very engaging Italian lecturer, who would often ask us which point of view was better, and his running joke was that the answer is always "It depends". One thing that was clear when we learned about the history of trade unions and how they developed from small agreements between 6 or so countries into major organisations like the EU and WTO, is that creating and joining these organisations resulted in a net welfare boost for member countries. There may have been some where it didn't work out but on average you do well out of it. If there wasn't economic benefits available then trade and globalisation wouldn't be so widespread. Okay it doesn't work every time and there are exceptions but if you look at the history of organisations like the EU, there is a reason that there are so many more instances of countries joining or expanding their existing unions and organisations and very few examples of countries leaving because they think they'll be better off on their own. I'm pretty sick of this debate to be honest. Both sides have had their say about the pros and cons of Brexit umpteen times and I've just been guilty now of going into it again but bringing us back to a more relevant point, I just don't see how the position we find ourselves at this point in the Referendum to Brexit timeline can be anything other than a cause for concern. Sure, Remainers trying to play the told you so card isn't helpful and there's still a chance everything will turn out to the nation's benefit but that chance is surely less now than it was two years ago.

That was arguably the least embarrassing goal of the three. The last one was certainly worse. I am patient with the manager and the new blood including Brands and Moshiri but I have no patience for players getting chance after chance because they keep getting managers sacked and each new manager gives them a fresh start and they get away with it for another 6 months until the next transfer window while they take home £100,000 a week. It just boils your piss to see the cycle start again with some players. I'm sure we will come good eventually but there's not half a lot of poison in our squad that's easy to forget about when there's so much optimism and positive PR surrounding the new manager and DoF.
-
@Dr. Gonzo fair post but to be clear, the majority of that isn't really in reaction to the friendly match, it's more the case that a shite performance tonight has reminded me of a lot of the shite we saw last season and given me reason to complain about it again because I pretty much gave up halfway through last season. Bear in mind that since we finished 8th in a league that was probably the most short of quality that I've ever seen, we've got rid of Funes Mori and Klaassen probably, neither of whom were responsible for what happened to us last season, and brought in one player who we don't know how will turn out. Much more change needed and it doesn't have to all be done this transfer window by any means but it would be nice to see a bit more progress. We literally don't have a single centre half who I'd be happy to see line-up against Wolves in just over two weeks apart from possibly Holgate.

Well that was an absolute disgrace. I don't know which is worse, the incompetence or how unarsed all of our players are. I'm going to go with the latter. Losing a pre season friendly doesn't matter a fucking jot but under a new manager especially, I expect to see Everton players go out on the pitch and put a shift in in pre season. If stuff doesn't come off and you get unlucky and lose a friendly 3-0 thats fine as long as the players are out there trying to get involved and get on the ball to improve their match sharpness, talk to each other to work on their defensive shapes, run up and down the pitch to get the match fitness on the go and I'm just not seeing that from so many players. What I can see is the same usual suspects jogging around in second gear because they don't actually give a shit about being at the forefront of Silva's thoughts as long as they get paid and squad players and youngsters who are terrified of touching the ball because they either know they aren't good enough to do anything with it or they don't have the bottle to find out if they're good enough or not. You can call this a massive overreaction to a friendly match but you wouldn't if you'd seen that performance (and the two games against Lille and Porto). I'd be interested to get the perspective of @roversgirl or @JOSHBRFC on the off chance you were at the game or managed to watch it another way. Last year I was slightly worried about us not looking good in any of our pre season games or the two qualifying legs against Ruzomberok but wrote it off to pre season rust and assumed it would be alright when the season starts. This year I'm worried again and I hope the club don't shrug it off. We need players in. We might be under a new regime but the same attitude problems stink in that dressing room. The likes of Mirallas, Schneiderlin and Williams have already seen off multiple managers and I can't be arsed with us blaming another manager when we aren't good enough to get anywhere near the top six. The players on the pitch playing like AIDs under different managers are the common denominator to the bad performances. Unless he's taking us down Silva needs several transfer windows to fundamentally change and rebuild this squad along with Marcel Brands. We can forget about top six finishes for the next two seasons minimum anyway. I don't think many of our fans would disagree but if they do they need to give their heads a shake and look at the fact that there probably isn't a single Everton player apart from maybe Pickford who any of the top six would like to have off us to play in their first team so expecting us to get anywhere near them in the league is frankly retarded.

HAHAHA HAHAHA Jesus fucking wept.

Website went down after about 15 minutes. I'm (half) watching a Russian stream from reddit..

9 changes, Richarlison and Gueye on amongst them. Sandro stays on again. I don't understand why he's played seemingly every minute of pre season whereas hardly anyone else has had over 45 minutes more than once. In the shop window? Still having a good look at him? God knows. We better at least win this half now.

How fucking shite is Pennington and what is he doing still hanging around the club? Where is Holgate?
