  1. If Ocon or Perez end up without a seat then the sport is broken.
  2. Confirmed, both Haas disqualified. Doesn't really affect the championship but that promotes both Force India's to 6th and 7th, Sainz 8th and the two Williams 9th and 10th.
  3. Looks like a potential disqualification for Grosjean. A shame as he's really started turning his season around.
  4. I didn't think it was a mistake from Vettel, just better driving from Hamilton along with a bit of luck.
  5. Vettel did nothing wrong today but Hamilton shows again that he's a cut above Seb, at least this year. Gutted Kimi couldn't see that through. He won't get many more chances to get one last win.
  6. What a fucking qualifying session! Kimi Kimi Kimi . Fastest lap in F1 history.
  7. Stroll gets Williams first Q3 appearance of the year.
  8. Huge crash for Ericsson in practice two. He's fine apparently. Replay: https://streamable.com/s8vt3
  9. Saw the quotes. Didn't question Shaw and Gomez inclusion. Loftus-Cheek isn't ready for me though. He was man of the match against Germany in that friendly but hasn't impressed in an England shirt since and isn't playing for his club. Lallana hasn't done anything since his injury to earn a spot in the England squad even if he's undoubtedly a good footballer.
  10. Lallana and Loftus-Cheek are slightly odd inclusions for me. Was hoping to see a few more fresh faces and not just the typical "you're English and play for a top six club so you're in". Henderson and Welbeck aren't exactly the future of England either. Would rather see a Grealish or a Maddison in there. Maybe even Shelvey to try something different in that midfield that ultimately got outclassed in Russia. Meh, it's a safe squad.
  11. That surprises me as most of the fans I know from Liverpool and the fan pages I follow on Twitter are very anti-Brexit.
  12. Who are the young players Southgate can actually bring in up front? Rashford fair enough but his progress has stalled somewhat. Sturridge is worth a shout if he can stay fit but I imagine England isn't the highest in his list of priorities for the time being. Welbeck will still be in the squad I'm sure which belies our lack of depth in that position after Kane. Callum Wilson is the other one who probably deserves a chance, and is similar to Vardy in a way. After that you're looking at the likes of Solanke and Calvert-Lewin as the top forwards from the youth teams but they're both a long way from being ready. It's not a major problem when you've got Kane to fall back on as your main man. Any other striker is an impact sub or bit part player for the foreseeable future.

I am indeed. Yeah might be a shout. There's a good chance that this idea fizzles out by this time next week when schools back in though .

Yeah I think I'd go for the "semi-angry but not taking it too seriously in reality" look and I'd probably write about stuff when I get pissed off at media narratives (which I complain about nearly every day on here) offering a different view on some talking points.

Been giving semi-serious thought to setting up a blog where I can chat shit about Everton and football in general. After all my time at university and finishing my Masters I realised that while I'm a mathematician I'm actually pretty good at writing. I even used to write match reports for my Mum on the Cambridge website sometimes when I was younger . The only things putting me off are how hard it is to get people reading and make sure it's not totally pointless and whether I'll be arsed committing time to doing it to a half-decent standard by the time school kicks off again. I don't know, I enjoy writing and football so it seems like it might be worth a go just to see if it picks up interest but there's so many people out there doing a similar thing and people with YouTube channels which obviously appeals much more to a wider audience because of our collective lack of attention span these days that it might be a waste of time. Any thoughts are welcome I guess.
  17. Dull race but Vettel closing the gap is good for the championship. Ferrari clearly have a bit extra speed here and look near certain to be the class of the field again at Monza. If Vettel can win with Kimi second the gap will be down to 7 if Lewis is 3rd. Good weekend for Force India and Haas. Renault have lost a lot of points here in that 4th-6th battle.
  18. Lol nice one Hulkenberg. Vettel has probably won the race in that one manoeuvre.
  19. 20 Belgian GPs ago was one of the most dramatic races of the Schumacher era: It always makes me laugh with the original crash, it just looks like the last half a dozen cars to get involved are just like LOL that looks like fun I'm just going to join in.
  20. Michael Keane is out for 3-4 weeks at least with a small skull fracture. I've been his harshest critic in the past year or so but he deserves credit for the start to the season. He's stepped up into the role of senior centre half since Jagielka was dismissed against Wolves and replaced by Holgate. He's been sticking his head in where it hurts left, right and centre, setting up our first goal against Wolves, scoring yesterday and putting his body on the line late in the game. It's too bad he can't do anything about his pace. As long as we try and play a high line with Keane in defence, it will be a weakness for us, so it's hard to see a Marco Silva side which has Keane as a long term starter, but I've been impressed with him so far this season nonetheless. Hope he recovers soon.
  21. Hamilton nicks it. Raikkonen and the Red Bulls not enough fuel to be on track when the conditions were optimum. Whoops. Force India gamble on the wet track at first but it pays off by accident as they end up out at the end of the session. 3rd and 4th.
  22. VET/RAI/HAM separated by 0.06s at end of Q2. Rain due in six minutes...
  23. Raikkonen fastest in Q1, fastest so far in Q2. Sure Ferrari will give Seb priority in the final session but Kimi has always enjoyed this track. Bottas starting from the back regardless of what happens.
