  1. Many this season have been singing the praises of Mount & Foden who enjoy being at two of the bigger clubs. For me there is another young player who is every bit worthy of the praise, so the breaking news of today that Eberechi Eze has done his Achilles & maybe wont play again this year is terrible news for Palace & the young lad.

Eze got my vote for the best young player outside the big 4 clubs at my board & I am sure he was on many a clubs radar as a luxury player for the future. As we know with other players who have damaged ankles, it can be a bit of a crap shoot if they return to full fitness, so fingers crossed he does.

  2. Painful weekend for our club.

Girls took an very sad experience on the chin which I guess we must have thought could have happened before the game. Disastrous opening goal was a frame of things to come & we will never know how much of a difference to the game Harder would have made if she had taken her wonderful chance soon after their first.

As long as the mens team start with just 10 players we will always be subject to these kind of results. The passenger continues to weaken us & alas this manager disappointed during the last two games. I happen to think he believes his own press & feels he has to tinker with his starting line up, when more of the same would have given positive results. As I stated just a couple games into his time in our hot seat, I like him. I would just like to see him a little more consistent with his selections & to show some balls when he took the easy way out against Arsenal, removing Billy the young player over the most pathetic excuse of a player we have on the books, Jorginho, who like the West Brom defeat, he was the major reason for the loss.

    Footnote:
Does Leicester's win mean they replace Tottenham in the Big Six?

  3. Congrats to the girls on retaining their WSL title ~ Fingers crossed for them next weekend.

Boys are playing some good stuff just now ~ The amount of work Werner gets through in a game is really something.

Did you know? ~ If Harry Kane had stuck at Norwich City, he would have 3 winners medals now!

Over a year ago I stated in this thread I no longer had the time to tap out fresh posts for each of the boards I frequent & would copy n paste.

If it pains you too much as you run your eyes over a few screen names, please feel free to edit those deeply offending names. Or of course, don't read it ~ I am sure my Chelsea thoughts have little interest to a Fox's fan  ;)

Amazing, taken a year for someone to pick up on this lol.

  5. I have to say I wasnt pleased with the managers chosen line-up. He made reference straight after the game that he felt players were tired hence so many changes, but for me it was because of all the changes we made a Dog's dinner of the tie, allowing a very poor side to be still be in it near the end of the game. Reading others before me I can see I am not alone in thinking we got away with one. I doubt he will make the same mistake in the Semi as our CL draw luck did not extend to the FA Cup.

CHO is getting alot of airtime under this manager and has even had a position manufactured for him as a wingback. His performances have very little baring on the outcome of games and if I had a fiver for every time he gets the ball checks and passes backwards or sideways I'd have enough for a Summers  time of Beer. Rarely does he get past the marking full back and there is a case to say he is a member of the Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink school of ball control. Maybe he will get better, but for me he is getting far too many chances compaired to others who could start on that flank.

I am in agreement with others before me in this thread we are desparate to either unlock the goal getting of the players we currently have or bring in someone to finish off the wonderful game control we are currently enjoying. Obviously we are being used by the media to flush out the goal machine at Dortmund real destination, so I wouldnt hold my breath on that being the answer. Blue&Wine makes an excellent point that our problem maybe the guys who should be assisting more than the guys sticking it in the net. He sure paints a thought provoking picture, inserting a young Fabregas into our team would make it far easier for those who score the goals. So maybe thats the player type we need.

ChelseaTotty &TheRealFatFrank reaction to the owners interview are very funny. It's hardly the first words from him over the years. I have a football programme against Hull around here somewhere where he states how great his first Ten years have been & looks forward to many more years together. And who can forget 14-year-old Chelsea fan Oran Tully from Skerries in Ireland who got to ask Roman a burning question obviously set up by Sky on their "My Special Day". Hardly the Mute they would have you believe.

  6. A dangerously competent performance over the two legs & again one wonders what the fuss was about when we drew Athletico? It's because of their display during this tie makes me wonder are we as clever as we hope?

There is no doubt our manager has brought the players together, something as time ticks past since he arrived has leaked out they were not under the previous manager.

Frank was brought in to fix the toxic atmosphere between the match day fans and the horrendous year of Sarri. While so many of us were happy for his return there is no doubt in my football mind, he was lacking in many of the basic needs to manage a club with the expectations we have. The present manager is further along in his managerial experience and he is showing it in spades. As Jason Cundy said last night on talksport, there is no reason why Frank cant come again once his learnt more at a lesser club.

With that said, as I have stated from 4-5 games in with this manager, I like him. I find it very impressive his major decision to return us to a back 3, returning Alonso in most games to his wing back role & playing Kante in his ONLY FUCKING POSITION has our players looking far more as one, both on and off the pitch. Eye opener celebrations in the stand afer last nights 2nd goal. Even those of you at our home who flagged up the problems created in the dressing room by Frank must be scratching your heads at the way they have all bought into Tuchel. I guess not losing helps that. Also, AlanSimmonsCFC, your posting predicting Athletico would not score against us over the two legs is right up there for this season!

2014 was the last time we found ourselves in the last 8, long gone have the days we were last 4 favs most seasons, so Fridays draw should be interesting. Not sure the managers boast nobody will want to draw us stands up, but I guess he is again flooding his players with confidence. Shame he can't unlock the scoring ability of a few of the guys he picks up front!

  7. Crap game which again we failed to take advantage of the pressure we created.

United are an Olympic sprinting n diving squad who other than an outstanding centre midfield player are as far away from being good enough as they have under any manager since Sir Alex.

Yet again dropped points in a fixture we should taken all three and news that Tammy threw a wobbly with the manager on being told he wasnt invold in the matchday squad.

He, along with 3-4 others would get my vote to be moved this summer, but I do not like the news Tomori is open to signing for Milan. Something a miss there?

  8. Kinda makes you wonder what all the fuss was about when we pulled them out of the hat?

They were terrible. I dont think it had anything to do with how they were set up, they were truly not up for it. Granted they had a few out, but surly enough to play better than they did.

As far as ourselves its becoming a common theme through all our games how wasteful we are with possession. Its the usual suspects who need to be name called.

So far, I like this manager. I think he has something about him and explains himself clearly in a honest manner on what we have just witnessed. This is something I can only remember 3 other Chelsea managers having in their locker over the last 25 years.

  9. Kante cleanly won back the ball 7-8 times in Southamptons half, high up the pitch. Not once did it result in a shot on target by us.

1000% with the manager embarrassing Odi. I could name 8-9 others since the appointment of Sarri who deserve the same.

Terrible waste of points, but a huge reason to be more opptimistic for the future.

  10. Last nights performance reminded me of a trial game. 14 blokes turn up never played together before with no trust in each other. While Barnsley were a credit to their league level & their young manager, it was ours changing formation at half time that was the illuminating fact to come out of the fixture.

Tammy does play well at that level, but CHO, along with many others did not perform good enough. Concerning if true the rumours on Ziyech & Pulisic. I guess time will tell.

I agree mostly on Jorginho and Kovacic, I've been one of the first to complain about them this season but they have looked better under Tuchel but as I've said before we can't rely on them heavily throughout a season.

Werner reminds me a bit of Torres for us at the moment, his first touch and ability to retain possession is poor most of the time, it wasn't exceptional at the start of the season anyway but it definitely wasn't as bad as it is now, might be a confidence thing.

On another note, good to see Tuchel rotating a lot more, Lampard ran a lot of players into the ground which was one of a few things he got wrong for us.

Yeah I am in danger of appreciating this manager more than the previous two. I know he was the owners 1st choice to replace Conte which highlights the desperate decision to hire Sarri. Tactics rotation & outstanding dealing with leading questions from the garbage media have all been an upgrade over the previous two managers. Time will tell of course, but there is signs the players believe the change is a good thing.

@The Liquidator Jorginho looked poor defensively, I watched him get bypassed one too many times, their goal was Jorginho's error in the first place, he was completely bypassed by the opposition, God knows what Rudiger was doing though.

I am disappointed in Jorginho performance in most games, but last night he was exploited by the bottom club in the table for most of the match, which as ever left us playing with ten players. What is worse this new manager still hasnt sussed Jorginho and Kovacic should never start a game together. It's painful how the pair waste oppotunities to release forward players quickly when we have comfortable possesion of the ball or allow the players they are up against easy passage through their portion of the pitch. Oh the days of Makelele & Essien.

While 3 points are fine I do feel we again made hard work of an outfit who are not PL standard.

Werner, 7 Spot kicks won & a good number of assits, if he could just finish off a few of the chances that fall his way the above may prove less difficult.

Not that I take most things this man says seriously but interesting comments from Sherwood here, not the type of pundit you'd normally see giving players like Jorginho and Kovacic praise. I've been the first to slaughter Jorginho and especially Kovacic recently but I have to admit they've looked better. The Wolves game I thought they were poor and it was a game that demonstrated most of the things that frustrate me with them, that is moving the ball too slowly and not playing forward enough. Against Burnley, there was a notable improvement in this area I thought, they played quicker, were more direct and had decent games. Against Spurs, I thought they continued some of the good things they showed against Burnley but also had some periods in the game where they got a bit too passive, slow and comfortable on the ball. Their calmness, composure and ability on the ball was definitely one of the key things that helped us against Spurs but I have to admit I was still crying out for them at times to play forward more especially in the first half. Hopefully, Tuchel can get them doing the good things more and more regularly. Overall, their performances under Tuchel have been more like it but given their inconsistencies in the past, you can never get too carried away. The system definitely suits them a lot more though as they have more protection.

You obviously didnt take in the BT feed of the game as Hoddle n those in the studio all pointed out how deep Hojbjerg & Sissoko were in the first half which allowed our pair to look half decent, well decent for them but still both passengers going forward. 2nd half higher tempo of Spurs with a higher press we were not able to boss the game as we did in the 1st half and the passengers were back to normal.

Your right on one thing thou.... Sherwood, while a half decent player, he isnt worth taking notice of as a coach or pundit.

  14. A little better, but hardly ground breaking stuff. One hopes with the return of Kante this manager works out that Jorginho and Kovacic should never ever start a game together. Their forward play last night was about as deadly as a balloon covered in cotton wool.

Very much looking forward to the weekends match. Manager let the club down in Sheffield last season and while currently bottom of the league there is some improvement in their performances of late. Every Blue knows they will fancy it against us, so this is the ideal fixture to gage if this new manager has it between the ears to listen to the warnings and ensure we are at it from the first whistle Sunday night.

  15. Yeah you sound very much like other dissappointed Chelsea fans at this news. I have no idea if what is being bounded about is true, however the people sharing this view at my board are very reliable, known to be friends with both current staff n players at the club.

To be perfectly honest, its Franks performance as manager failier in tactics & lack of wins this season which was enough for me for him losing his job. I heard him field questions no more than a week ago where he was asked does he know his best starting 11 yet?

I would suggest the new managers starting 11 over the next 4-7 games will be very revealing.

  16. There is no doubt in my mind this was coming and was needed. As much as I wanted Frank to succeed its been obvious too me for most of this season he has not improved as a manager since last year and was holding us back. If you are a regular viewer of our entire games It's difficult to see where Frank won us games from the sideline once we got passed his 5 at the back surprise. His inabilty to fix the defence had me begging for him to bring someone in to work with the defence since the start of the season. So much more could be written.

Anyway, feel for him but this is the correct decision. The buzz for sometime was there were senior players bad mouthing him to above, but its the falling out with Marina over Rice which seems to have weakened his position enough for this decision if we are to believe those who have been proven right in the past.

We now have the owners first choice to replace Conte. 18 months will be extended once he wins something and lets face it, if he has anything about him, he has all the tools to do so in this 2nd asterix season.

Fuck me, how old are you lot? Havnt got a clue. We smashed Sevilla at theirs, where they simply don’t lose in Europe, we went 15 games or so unbeaten?? How many clean sheets? Timo was looking sharp and scoring, ziyech was hot... and now there’s a blip in the road it’s oh let’s change the manager again. Fans my arse, have some faith in the project ffs, the days where managers can come in and change things around and win have gone because we don’t have the experienced squads and players we once had. It’s a new era and it’s time you lot understood that and had some patience.

As Gary Lineker said on the arrival of Ruud Gullit to Chelsea Football Club in 1995, "He will soon learn who not to pass the Ball too"

You too will soon learn who to read here & who to place on ignore saving you time & head shaking.  :ay:

  18. Away Sevilla

So our squad has far more depth than Sevilla. That pretty much sums up the game last night, plus its a bit questionable how seriously they took the "dead rubber" fixture. Never the less its a fine result which should flood our whole club with confidence and must have one or two of our youngsters itching for the last group game fixture to come around.

While it was enjoyable to watch the performance of one player who has been almost third choice in his position this season, it pours fuel on what our league point total might be if he lead our line from game one. Your welcome

Watched Jorginho pre match presser & he striked me as being associated with the wrong agent.
