Football League 2023/24 - Saturday 4th May, 2024

I should imagine a lot of fans will want anyone but Leeds but probably for entirely different reasons. Personally, it will feel a massive injustice if we don't go up having had the season we've had. Farke, in the main has done an astonishing job with what he inherited. If we'd started the season without those issues and Farke had more time pre season to build his team how he wanted it, I think we probably go up as Champions you know. Would agree though, you'll be hard pushed to get as good a Championship season all round as that one has provided and I'm sure the playoffs will be dramatic, especially with us in them. -

Yeah it helps if you get a good start for sure. Pleased with 46th overall, especially after a bad start. Think i did well in the final third of the season and positioned myself well with the 3 chips used. So I guess that means I've won our pre season bet between you, me and @JoshBRFC -
Fair play to Leicester, got nothing but good words to say. They have proved to be the most consistant and got over the line when it counted. Can't really remember them being out the Top 2 long at any point over the course of the season and if you end the season with 100pts, it definitely proves you're worthy winners. I think in retrospect given how young and inexperienced our team are (2nd youngest squad in the league) it's shown at various times this season, especially in the games we've had lumps kicked out of us and teams have shithoused. We just haven't handled those niggly encounters too well. And also down the home straight, the lack of experience in our team has been evident in that they haven't quite been able to handle the pressure and expectancy levels our club carries. Leicester's team carry a lot more experience and know how for me and thst stuff cannot be underated in the Championship. The only thing that I find a little bit weird with Leicester has been the reaction of some of the players/club after promotion. I get the game is about a bit of fun and banter but it's come across that they feel a bit triggered by us, whether that was because we beat them twice or nearly pipped them to promotion, not sure. I get some of our fanbase (more so your typical social media one's) can be absolute gobshites so fans having fun, no problem. But the actual players and club using the 'I predict a riot' against us, a song we play after every home game, seems odd behaviour. Seen so many videos across social media mocking us in particular, even at Leicester's own players awards which feels odd behaviour, I just kinda feel in these moments, enjoy what you've achieved and don't worry about us. Maybe it's a back handed compliment, not sure but feels a bit weird considering there hasn't really been much words swapped between the clubs over the course of the season.

Gaffr 2023/24 - Championship Fantasy League

This is our 4th season of Gaffr I believe, last weekend approaching. My previous finishes were... 70th 20/21 48th 21/22 39th 22/23 Currently 47th. I think I'm gonna be hard pushed now to improve and beat 39th unless I make a couple of punts that work for me but it's been another enjoyable season of the game. Given FPL will have less blanks next year meaning less DGW's, to make it interesting, they could have learned a thing or two from Gaffr and introduced maybe two extra chips to play on a single matchday, like a Park the Bus, Triple Triple or Budget Buster. Not sure the FPL community could handle such rapid change -

As per usual. Used to failure by now and expect no different in the playoffs, just a questiin of who beats us and whether it's the semi or the final. The EFL will be licking their lips at the thought of us staying down. Cash cow of the division milked again. -
It actually had nothing to do with that, although I'm sure that didn't help. The main problem was after the World Cup, the club gave Pontus the option to come back to pre season later due to his involvement. However, Bielsa wasn't impressed that someone considered one of the leaders in the dressing room came back later than anticipated and wanted more commitment from him. The other thing was, Pontus didn't have the ball playing skills that Bielsa wanted his centre back to have, and had no hesitation in selling and replacing with Ben White on loan, who was different calibre in fairness. I was sad to see him go, he was a cult hero for us and an excellent transfer, but sometimes it doesnt work out. He was suited more to Brentford's style than ours and I don't think keeping him or not keeping him made a blind bit of difference tbh.

Arsenal have played this to a tee. Been so calm, especially without the ball which they haven't seen loads of. Perfect away performance so far. Tottenham look like they miss a real cutting edge to all the promising play. Just get to the penalty area and then draw a blank. I feel like they'd rather have Son on the left than middle and a natural forward as a presence in the box. -
EFL Championship 23/24 - Relegation Battle

Yeah, Wednesday have done well in fairness, credit where it's due. 50pts looked a long way off to them when Rohl took over. They can now look forward to the Sheffield derby again. Two big games for this level. Huddersfield have been pathetic. As per usual, they played against us like it was a Cup Final, and then went extremely flakey. I will never understand how a side can show so much fight and determination for one fixture then capitulate against some absolutely bang avearage teams. They can gladly go. I think Birmingham might get a result next week. It helps them Norwich are as good as up bar any freak scores where as I think Plymouth will be hard pushed to get a win v Hull who have something to play for still. We all want Brum to go though right? -
I don't think it's a massive deal. It's been a stressful few weeks at the club with the results they have had and someone like Salah has been so used to being the club's main man that it's a massive hit to the ego to keep being benched and seeing your side stumble. He's not used to it and tensions are a little fraught. I'm sure they'll have smoothed it over by the next game. I don't think Klopp's the kind of guy to hold grudges with his players so it'll be more on Salah's part to apologise for his behaviour which I'm sure he will. After all, Klopp is the one leaving the club, Salah technically isn't so he shouldn't be looking to sour things.

Makes me laugh the amount of pundits/people who aren't Leeds fans that blindly expect Leeds to get over the line. You are talking about one of the biggest chokers in the game. A club that carries a ridiculous burden of pressure and expectancy it cannot handle. No matter what great position we are in or how probable something looks in our favour, there just isn't another club out there that can successfully bottle it as spectacularly as us. There really isn't. I can literally reel off example after example. The one and only time we've done it, we did it when no fucking cunt was allowed in the stands. Says it all. Just feels like this club carries a curse it cannot shake. And that is why we always get the fslling apart again song aimed at us. Congratulations to Leicester. And impending congratulations to Ipswich. There always had to be one out of the three to lose out in typically a ridiculous season where any other year you go up with them points, and it's us, of course. We even beat the Top 2 twice and still fucked it. Honestly, nothing with this club ever makes sense. No way we win playoffs. That's a massive psychological blow. You cannot go through all that, have it in your hands, get so close just to fail then find something to pick yourself up and go again so soon. Seen it all before. Not got the minerals and the desperation factor will creep in, the heavy burden of expectancy, we'll just freeze. And seeing another club go up at our expence will honestly be a piss-take but that is Sport. That's Football. And that's Leeds United. -

Mo Salah has previous for dropping off post African Nations. He's not the sole reason they have dipped but he's so massive to Liverpool and yet he's miles off it. I just think it takes a lot out of him physically and emotionally, really ruins his rhythm for his club. You need your best players at this stage and he's literally bagged a couple pens in like the last 6/7 games. Not even been that pivitol in build up play either, looks so sloppy. And I don't know how many more let off's and pardon's Darwin Nunez is allowed to have with his finishing but I tell you one thing, at least Firmino had the finess with hos touches and could trap a ball and tee it off nicely than have the ball just bounce off him and stop moves. I have to say as well, Andy Robertson looks a shadow of the full back he was two/three seasons ago. Really has dipped his level for me and he's been arguably the best LB in the league for a while too. There's some big calls for this Football club to make this summer now. If it was me, I'd probably take the money and replace Salah whilst he holds some value. Not sure holding for a year and going for free makes great business sense. -

That Arsenal result only says to me that whilst they are close, they don't quite have that minerals to win the big prizes yet. It's all well and good smashing a depleted and drained Chelsea 5-0 when the pressure is off but where was that against Villa/Bayern the other week? It's a lot harder to win when you have it in your hands and it's all to lose. Didn't quite have that killer mentality the really succesful sides have yet. Pretty sure nobody can really see City blinking. -

Called it to a tee. Didn't lay a glove and Leicester cruised it. Wouldn't have called five admitedly but it just looked and felt like it was a match up perfectly suited for Leicester to exploit. -

Calling it now. I know a lot of people are expecting a bit of a ding dong battle but I'm pretty certain Leicester will win tonight with less of a scare. I always felt there was more chance of West Brom getting a result there than Saints because of how well drilled they are under Corberan. Southampton will be far too open knowing they have to go all out for the win and Leicester have the quality to exploit that. I think they'll pick off the gaps quite easily. Just have to look at that Saints midfield tonight without Flynn Downes and Stuart Armstrong. Not sure Charles and Rothwell are the same calibre. -

After Sunderland were allowed to play volleyball twice in our penalty area two weeks ago, I will happily take an offside goal coming our way. I'm surprised the ref eveb awarded us that penalty last night, they usually miss the dead obvious one's. -

I always harp on about this but that summer of 2020 when we wanted Eze to take the Pablo Hernandez berth but he chose to stay in London and sign for you has almost been as much of a dagger as when we were on the verge of signing Frank Lampard and he made a late switch to Chelsea from West Ham. Always liked him and yet he always had a blinder against us. If someone like Villa got Champions League, I could see them getting him tbh but he could literally join anyone in this league, just so good. Makes you wonder what he'd be like with that next level of player around him. -
Beauty. Cheers Jude. Think you best start updating this table @Dan, that's two on the trot for me now

Do you know what gets me about all this? Just look at that image below. That was presented to a viewing audience via this tweet... Now look at a closer view of it... So basically, all we have to go on is a Blue line and a Red line next to eachother. Both going from the toes and in Wan Bissaka's case, they have even drawn the line over his toe. Surely, surely to give it offside, we have to be seeing some kind of daylight between the blue and the red line or whats the actual point? There is absolutely nothing conclusive about that to rule it out. I just feel for Coventry because they have been denied one of the greatest FA Cup moments ever there. They'll never get that moment back now. But to be totally frank, it sums up exactly what a week the FA Cup has had really. Lost the replays due to the 'Big Six' and now VAR saves a 'Big Six' club from embarassment. Absolutely killing what has been an excellent competition this year, one of the best with whats happened round by round and the drama/headlines created. Lost for words and it's not even my team. What an embarassing look for our Sport this is.

I got to be honest, I got home and thought I'd put the Cardiff game on. Was 1-0 Saints at the time, about 55mins in I think. Expected no less. Whoever the young lad was they brought on at RB looked very impressive. I thought he was composed, gave them an option going forward and used the ball well. The ex-Bristol City forward looked a menace too. Well done Cardiff, unexpected but welcomed. -

I genuinely don't know how West Brom are losing this game 2-0. They've had enough chances to have won two games. I know Leicester missed a penalty but they've dodged a massive bullit here. Does make me laugh though. Whenever we concede, we seem to face one shot and it goes in. I believe that is statistically correct too in Meslier's stats of shots faced. Even last week Middlesbrough missed two glorious chances v Ipswich, it's staggering sometimes the way it works, it really is.
