I managed to get a table booked at a restaurant near the waters of Leith for family only seeing wee Kaiden could not have his Birthday party with his friends because of the Coronavirus regulations, me, the wife, son & daughter had a meal there in a corner all by ourselves, funny enough our son's Birthday was the same day as Kaiden's so the wee man was chuffed seeing his uncle Darren there, cost me a bit with presents etc but I could not give a shite, family enjoyment comes first.
  8. Lazio have reached an agreement with Southampton for Dutch defender Wesley Hoedt, 26, to return to the Italian club on loan. (Sky Sport Italia - in Italian)
  9. Got a letter from the DHS about our yearly flu jabs and advise to get the jab because of the Coronavirus and to contact the local surgery to make an appointment that we use then we received this text message this morning Found out a lot of surgeries are not doing jabs because they are getting inundated with people wanting the jab so a lot of alternative places like Town Halls etc are doing the flu jab and the nearest one for me and the wife is Easter Road Hibernian football stadium, the funny bit is our son was going to get the jab and because he is staying with us he will have to go there and he is a Hearts man and Hibernian are Hearts fiercest rivals, he was not happy about going there for the jab.
  10. That's wee Kaiden's 7th Birthday bash party with his friends up the shoot, just a wee family gathering tomorrow in the house and that's it, trying to explain to him why he can't have a party with his friends is hard but he understands a wee bit, I can't say it's because a lot of bloody moron idiots just can't follow the restrictions with social gatherings and masks and parties just to please their habits of drink and whatnot.
  11. 11 years older than me but I remember you mentioning this in another thread...
  12. Nasa outlines the plan for the first woman on Moon by 2024 The US space agency (Nasa) has formally outlined its $28bn (£22bn) plan to return to the Moon by 2024. As part of a programme called Artemis, Nasa will send a man and a woman to the lunar surface in the first landing with humans since 1972. But the agency's timeline is contingent on Congress releasing $3.2bn for building a landing system. Astronauts will travel in an Apollo-like capsule called Orion that will launch on a powerful rocket called SLS. Speaking on Monday afternoon (US time), Nasa administrator Jim Bridenstine said: "The $28bn represents the costs associated for the next four years in the Artemis programme to land on the Moon. SLS funding, Orion funding, the human landing system and of course the spacesuits - all of those things that are part of the Artemis programme are included." But he explained: "The budget request that we have before the House and the Senate right now includes $3.2bn for 2021 for the human landing system. It is critically important that we get that $3.2bn." FULL REPORT

  14. Not bad but not like a lot of other books he has penned. I prefer his detective Alex Cross books and whenever I read one of them I always picture Morgan Freeman as Cross as he acted in the film's Kiss The Girls and Along Came A Spider, Patterson books with detective Cross made into films.
  15. Egypt tomb: Sarcophagi buried for 2,500 years unearthed in Saqqara A total of 27 sarcophagi buried more than 2,500 years ago have been unearthed by archaeologists in an ancient Egyptian necropolis. Photo: AFP/ Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities The stone coffins were found inside a newly-discovered well at a sacred site in the ancient Saqqara burial ground, south of Cairo. Thirteen coffins were discovered earlier this month, but a further 14 have followed, officials say. The discovery is now said by experts to be one of the largest of its kind. Images released show colourfully painted well-preserved wooden coffins and other smaller artefacts. Saqqara was an active burial ground for more than 3,000 years and is a designated Unesco World Heritage Site. One of the coffins from a burial complex in the necropolis of Saqqara. Photo: AFP/ Egyptian Ministry of Antiquities "Initial studies indicate that these coffins are completely closed and haven't been opened since they were buried," Egypt's antiquities ministry said in a statement on Saturday. 'More secrets' The statement adds that Egypt's Antiquities Minister Khaled al-Anani initially delayed announcing the find until he could visit the site himself, where he thanked staff for working in difficult conditions down the 11 metres deep well. The ministry said it hoped to reveal "more secrets" at a press conference in the coming days. One of the smaller artefacts found with the coffins in Saqqara. Saqqara, located around 30km south of Cairo, served as the necropolis for Memphis, the capital of ancient Egypt, for more than two millennia. In recent years, Egypt has ramped up its promotion of its archaeological finds in a bid to revive its vital but flagging tourism industry. 20. Coronavirus: Football team loses 37-0 in socially distanced match A German football team lost 37-0 to their local rivals after fielding only seven players who socially distanced throughout the match. Ripdorf fielded the minimum number of players on Sunday because their opponents SV Holdenstedt II came into contact in a previous game with someone who tested positive for Covid-19. Their team tested negative but Ripdorf said the conditions were not safe. If Ripdorf had not played, they would have faced a €200 (£182) fine. They had asked for the match - in the 11th tier of German football - to be postponed but the local association refused. Ripdorf said they did not feel safe as at the time of the game 14 days had not yet passed since Holdenstedt players had come into contact with the person who tested positive. Holdenstedt's first team did not play in the match and the club fielded their second team. At the beginning of the match, one of Ripdorf's players stepped onto the pitch, passed the ball to an opponent and the team then walked to the sidelines. Ripdorf co-chair Patrick Ristow told ESPN: "The Holdenstedt players did not understand. But we did not want to risk anything." He added of his players: "They did not go into direct duels and observed the social distancing rules, keeping two metres between them and Holdenstedt players." Holdenstedt did not hold back, scoring a goal every two or three minutes. "There was no reason not to play this game," Holdenstedt coach Florian Schierwater said. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-54193770

  22. Vast DNA Analysis of Hundreds of Vikings Reveals They Weren't Who We Thought What is a Viking? The word conjures an unmistakable mental image: the stereotype of bold Scandinavian invaders, fearsome marauders with white skin and pale hair, ruthlessly raiding and voyaging their way across the globe over 1,000 years ago. Only, there is a mistake, after all, it seems – crucial details in this longstanding legend are wrong, new research reveals. According to a large genetic analysis of over 400 Viking skeletons scattered across Europe, many Vikings weren't of Scandinavian ancestry, and many would have had dark hair, not blonde. FULL REPORT
