  1. Who knows what’s the right way to do things but Spain’s done it by region. Some areas of the country are being allowed to move to the next phase whereas others are staying on phase 0, Madrid for example. Was speaking to one friend yesterday here in the south of the country and she was talking about how one of her friends is having a party this week in a bar. Me personally I think I’ll be leaving social arrangements face to face for another 2-3 weeks at least. Not to be pessimistic but I think a lot of countries will be getting a second wave, just takes one person and you could be back to square one.
  2. I went out here in the south of Spain on Monday without it being to go to the supermarket or pharmacy for the first time in around 50 days. A very liberating experience. The de-escalation period started here last weekend and this week people have been able to go out to do exercise, with every age group given a certain slot in the day in which they can go out. With exercise, you have no limitations with movement, whilst if you're just walking you have to stay 1km from your home. I guess we can only wait for late next week to see the consequences, hopefully, the numbers stay stable or reduce further. One of my students is a doctor and he was saying that potentially there could be a second wave next week which might mean going back to square one. He was saying that as everyone has been locked up for so long, with some of the toughest lockdown restrictions worldwide here, people will start doing more than they should be and this may spread the virus even more with some parts of the country being affected worse than others. I went out for a run by the river tonight and it was very busy, a lot of people doing exercise but also a lot of people who just seemed to be conjugating in groups, not a police officer in sight. The de-escalation process is obviously a key period, I guess we can only wait and see if it turns out alright. Hope everyone's well. Best wishes to everyone.
  3. Who knows. The fact that Bridge didn't shake his hand and the reaction of some of the other players, especially the City ones, suggests something did happen.
  4. Not surprising to see people taking the piss back at home with the exercise law, needs to be removed.
  5. My worry is when the cases start to die down dramatically, everything starts to go back to normal, then a big wave starts again.
  6. In Spain here, you can essentially only go out to work, to go to the supermarket, doctor, pharmacy and to walk the dog. The parks and that are all closed as well. Think they should do the same for the UK.
  7. Needed action, don't agree with the one form of exercise bit though as although there will be a lot of people respecting it, there will also be a lot of people using it to take the piss. You'll get people going everywhere in gym gear. Some form of exercise can be done in your home no matter where you live if people are that desperate. If you're going to impose a lockdown, may as well go the whole way and be really strict about it.
  8. Here in Spain, there were about 2-3 days of severe panic shopping but in general, it has died down a lot. Most of the supermarkets are now relatively well stocked up, obviously, there are still a few empty shelves here and there but it's a lot better. From what I hear in the UK, you're at the panic buying stage still but I imagine it will get better.
  9. Don't know exactly what it's like in the UK at the moment but it's very eerie here in Spain. If you go out, every second person has got a mask and a lot of people are wearing gloves. There's a lot of police about stopping cars on the road and asking questions. Went to a local supermarket earlier near my work and there were people waiting outside. It was a one in, one out policy, not because it was busy but I imagine it was to help stop too many people gathering in an enclosed space. I was waiting outside with a couple of people and we were all distancing ourselves from each other and there's been a lot of that with the few people you encounter out and about. There's a storm brewing in Seville in the south of Spain in a place which has mostly experienced sunny days of between 23-28 degrees the past month. It's like armageddon or something. Despite not having strict measures like Spain or Italy, has the UK gone the same way?
  10. Quite an emotional moment here right now in Spain. Everyone just came to their balconies at 10pm with a minute of clapping to pay tribute to the health system and all the people working to help fight this disease. Quite a striking moment.
  11. The latest from Spain... The draft version of the decree implementing the state of alarm, which radio network Cadena SER first reported on and to which EL PAÍS has had access, limits journeys to the following: 1. The acquisition of foods, pharmaceuticals and essential items. 2. Access to healthcare centers. 3. Journeys to workplaces or to carry out labor, professional or company duties 4. Return journeys to habitual residences. 5. Assistance for and care of seniors, minors, dependants, the disabled or vulnerable people. 6. Journeys to financial institutions. 7. For reasons of force majeure or situations of necessity. 8. Any other activity that is justifiably necessary. To sum up, people in Spain will from today only be able to move around if they need to go to work, buy foodstuffs or purchase pharmaceuticals. The government is essentially locking down Spain, in measures that will go into force at 8am on Monday March 16, 2020.
  12. State of alarm declared here. All bars and establishments will be closed in Madrid from tomorrow except supermarkets and pharmacies. I imagine the rest of the country will follow suit.
  13. In Spain they have also closed all schools for the next two weeks. I’m a teacher here and will be working online for the next couple of weeks.
  14. I wouldn’t want Chilwell either, we’d be foolish to pay that money for him.
  15. Jorginho is suspended for three of the next four, interesting to see what Lampard does with the midfield. Would rather see him be brave and put in Gilmour rather than Barkley. As I said, with Jorginho in the match thread, I've seen enough of him now to conclude that for me he's inconsistent if anything. Looks great some games and ineffective others, recently he hasn't even got his touch and passing right which is supposedly his best trait. Admittedly, Tomori was poor against Bournemouth but regardless both Tomori and Zouma have shown more promise this season and should be given a string of games based on that.
  16. Nothing to do with his performances mate which have been impressive especially considering it's his first season in the Premier League. He had some injury problems when Rudiger was coming back into the fold and Lampard has preferred the Christensen and Rudiger pairing for the last couple of months. On performances alone this season, Zouma and Tomori have been our best centre backs. Maybe Lampard is trying to suss them all out for next season. I have always been a big fan of Christensen but have to admit for the most part I've been disappointed with his performances so far this season.
  17. Azpilicueta is still capable of a big performance as he has shown on a few occasions this season but ever since we moved to a more progressive playing style, he hasn't been as good as he once was.
  18. Alonso, Emerson, Barkley, Pedro, Giroud, Willian, Batshuayi, Azpilicueta. Being cynical, you could probably shift all of these for starters, perhaps keeping Giroud and Azplicueta around for squad positions.
