  1. Yes. In our top five best performers this season and perhaps he would be talked about more highly if he hadn't missed a good chunk of Tuchel's first few months which coincided with the team playing well again. If we continue next season with a similar system, even more so as it's a system that allows him more protection. The truth is though is that I thought he also did very well for us in a back four when Lampard used it as well. A solid season for him and he comes across as a cool bloke as well.
  2. I'll probably be talking on my own but there we go.
  3. Some might say that sunshine follows thunder Go and tell it to the man who cannot shine Some might say that we should never ponder On our thoughts today 'cause they hold sway over time

  5. I saw this on Twitter and it basically sums up what I think when I watch us play these days. The system gives players a foundation, in the build-up, there's normally always a passing and comfort option for one of our deeper players to pass to. There's a lot of passing around the back and within the double pivot but progression elsewhere is less common. This passing and control amongst the defenders etc allow us to control big parts of the game. The system simplifies the game for a lot of players, it gives them security when they're on the ball, they'll look to go forward and if they can, they will but a lot of the time they end up playing to someone nearby as that option is always on. Overall, the system gives the players a lot of security in terms of build-up from the back and with defending, it hides the true levels of a lot of our players as the system protects them. Our overall comfort however within this system becomes a lot more difficult when teams press high and look to get on the ball and this is my worry as we come to the crunch end of the season. We've seen teams already cause us problems in this way. I just think overall, we're not as good as people think we are but I hope I'm proven wrong.

  13. Yeah mate, decent album. He's one of my favourite artists to come on the scene in recent years.
  14. I agree mostly on Jorginho and Kovacic, I've been one of the first to complain about them this season but they have looked better under Tuchel but as I've said before we can't rely on them heavily throughout a season. Werner reminds me a bit of Torres for us at the moment, his first touch and ability to retain possession is poor most of the time, it wasn't exceptional at the start of the season anyway but it definitely wasn't as bad as it is now, might be a confidence thing. On another note, good to see Tuchel rotating a lot more, Lampard ran a lot of players into the ground which was one of a few things he got wrong for us.
  15. @The Liquidator Not that I take most things this man says seriously but interesting comments from Sherwood here, not the type of pundit you'd normally see giving players like Jorginho and Kovacic praise. I've been the first to slaughter Jorginho and especially Kovacic recently but I have to admit they've looked better. The Wolves game I thought they were poor and it was a game that demonstrated most of the things that frustrate me with them, that is moving the ball too slowly and not playing forward enough. Against Burnley, there was a notable improvement in this area I thought, they played quicker, were more direct and had decent games. Against Spurs, I thought they continued some of the good things they showed against Burnley but also had some periods in the game where they got a bit too passive, slow and comfortable on the ball. Their calmness, composure and ability on the ball was definitely one of the key things that helped us against Spurs but I have to admit I was still crying out for them at times to play forward more especially in the first half. Hopefully, Tuchel can get them doing the good things more and more regularly. Overall, their performances under Tuchel have been more like it but given their inconsistencies in the past, you can never get too carried away. The system definitely suits them a lot more though as they have more protection.
