Carnivore Chris Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 That chip was class by Griezmann. Also, even though Messi isn't scoring the numbers of the past, but he's racking up a ridiculous amount of assists this season. This is more like a Barcelona team. The league is lost now, but If these players can play like they have today for the rest of the season, they have a chance in the Champions League.

The disallowed goal(finished off by Messi) was brilliant(or would have been brilliant) as well due to the team work and build up. It's been ages since I saw Barcelona score a team goal like that. Vidal was like a cm offside and it was disallowed due to shitty VAR. It's just anal to be honest. If Villarreal had scored the same goal, I'd say the same thing too. Fuck VAR, it's so close that it's just being anal and before VAR that is a goal 100% of the time if we are honest. In fact, all the goals were class. Suarez' was typical Suarez, he doesn't score tap ins and the Ansu Fati goal was such intelligent play. He made it look like he was going to pass it, then placed it into the corner. Ansu Fati gives you a real buzz to be honest. Barcelona have had many young attacking players coming through the system since Messi and none have made the grade(well, other than Pedrito, he was class), but when you look at the likes of Tello, Munir, Deolofeu, etc, they were always one dimensional, they never really showed true class like Fati is doing. Bojan was another, although he was more of a case of suffering from pressure and not handling it, due to his anxiety issues, etc. Likewise, Puig looks far better than any young midfielder to come through in years. He is taking his chances whenever he gets them. As it stands, both of these 2 kids should be starting most weeks now. Then again, and this is especially true with Fati, you don't want to rush players too much or they end up dropping off quickly. Another player I'd like to see in that side at some point is Cucurella. He's at Getafe now but the fella looks to have what it takes to eventually replace Alba. He plays on the wing for Getafe mainly but he played at left-back in the Barcelona B team and he has all the credentials to play that role. Setien deserves credit and whatever happens this season he should be given a full season next year. He might not succeed, but he is certainly trying to get Barcelona back to having that identity and it's going to take more than half of a season, especially one which was disrupted by a virus. He needs a pre-season. Ansu was first given chances by Valverde so he deserves credit for that as well. But I would say Fati is already growing much better under Setien. de Jong out is a huge loss. He didn't stand out like at Ajax(not yet anyway) but he's one of those players who you notice when he's missing. I reckon this team would have dropped less points since the restart if he was playing. What Setien is trying to achieve now is the type of system that suits de Jong.
...Dan Posted July 6, 2020 Posted July 6, 2020 Luis Ocampos saving a shot from Eibar's keeper in the 101st minute of the match.
