carefreeluke Posted November 15, 2020 Posted November 15, 2020 For the new bands and artists around at the moment and in recent years. I'll kick it off with Glass Animals.
Spike Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 What even is indie and alternative anyway? I looked up Glass Animals and they are on a label owned by Capitol Records and another label publishes them through Universal as well, how is that indie? I just wanna know what to post because it's such a nebulous term, and a lot of music I like can be described in that way as well but I don't know why?
Machado Posted November 26, 2020 Posted November 26, 2020 Nowadays any band or artist that is popular but not quite mainstream get slapped with the Indie label. Everything between The War On Drugs and Idles is just Indie even though they sound nothing alike, so it's an useless label. I'm inclined to think it's a marketing gimmick used by major labels to sell music like The 1975 to 14 year olds who think they're part of some counterculture because they listen to "Indie" artists.
