Eco
In case you haven't heard, news in Spain this week appears to be dominated by this El Caso Negreira investigation, in which authorities are trying to determine the reasoning behind Barcelona making payments to Dansil 95, the company run by Enriquez Negreira, over a period of 17 years for an amount totaling €6.7m.Negreira was Vice-President of the Technical Committee of Referees during that period, and the work supposedly centered around scouting reports and advice on how to deal with referees. La Liga's president has come out and said that they won't punish Barcelona, as the the statue of limitations has passed, however the authorities will continue to investigate and UEFA could punish Barcelona if they were deemed to have broken any major laws, and could even go as far as ban them from Europe for a set number of years. https://www.football-espana.net/2023/02/17/the-two-crimes-that-spanish-justice-could-pursue-in-el-caso-negreira Barcelona's reputation certainly taking another hit, regardless of the outcome of the investigation.
