Gunnersaurus
This referee doesn't seem to like us. Perhaps the Greeks gave him some cocaine

Attacked well but defended well when we had to. Not easy to get 3 goals in Greece. I think any team in international football would be pleased to have 9 players out and get that performance Edited November 14 by Gunnersaurus
Administrator Stan Posted November 14 Author Administrator Share Posted November 14 Yeah think it was very efficient especially considering how much of a makeshift squad it was.
Dr. Gonzo
Happy for Jones to get a goal on his England debut

It's the most England thing ever though isn't it? Put in an excellent performance with players that won't play in the world cup with a manager who won't be there

Put in an excellent performance with players that won't play in the world cup with a manager who won't be there I think some of these fringe players should be given more consideration than the likes of Grealish, Foden & others who really haven't done a whole lot in an England shirt tbh. The success of today was the result of playing the best system for the players available rather than playing the best players on paper without regard for how they perform in a system. And I do wonder if this means Jones will have more consideration by Tuchel than Southgate had for him. He's been one of our better performers for the entirety of 2024. He started last season with a lot of question marks over his head among Liverpool fans because he hadn't really kicked on since coming through. By the end of last season, he was looking like one of our better midfield performers when fit. And imo he's building on that good form under Slot. Very cool seeing him score his first international goal with a goal like that.
Gunnersaurus
@Dr. Gonzo I think of you don't fit into the england system then you shouldn't play. I have sympathy for a manager though in that situation though. There is a lot of pressure from the media and fans to play certain players. Grealish and Foden have struggled in an England shirt but southgate was always criticised when he didn't play them. Then when he did play them he was critised for that. I actually thought southgate was one of better England managers at doing what he thought was right. In fact I remember years ago on here he was critised for leaving grealish out and I said well maybe he has seen something we haven't and everyone said I was talking shit. But when he put him in the squad he was shit. People sometimes need to trust the manager knows more than them. After all they see these players together how they train, they have years of football experience. I trust their judgement more than fans or the media
