I was hyping them, not sure the bookies were. This game's gone all wrong for them and when you're down 3-0, psychologically it's pretty hard to lift yourself. Especially against a team like this Romanian team, who defend in numbers, are excellently organised the way they battle like their lives depend on it. Their defence was impressive, very hard to break down. They had all their players in their penalty box at times.
Ukraine will have to regroup after this match and play like how they have shown they can play in other games before this tournament. Maybe they should play the more robust Brazhko next to Stepanenko in midfield, instead of the more offensive Shaparenko(he was to blame for Romania's 3rd goal). Shaparenko didn't have a good game, Ukraine should play more of a ball winner in that position. Shaparenko prefers playing in a more attacking midfield position.
Also Mykolenko is much better defensively at left-back than Zinchenko. Ukraine will hope that Mykolenko gets back from his injury to play some part in this tournament. Lunin will be blamed for 2 of the goals, although the shot from the 1st goal was unstoppable. Lunin is usually excellent, so I think Rebrov should keep faith with him, even if Trubin is another class keeper on the bench.
All in all, Ukraine need to drastically improve and cut out the mistakes. Romania deserve this win and if they continue this level of play and discipline, they will be tough for any team to play against.
