It was an important win for Shakhtar Donetsk against Young Boys at the Veltins-Arena, the home of Schalke. Shakhtar won 2-1 and Sudakov was no doubt the man of the match. After a poor pass lead to Young Boys taking a surprise lead, Sudakov then created Shakhtar's opening goal, as he ran down the left wing towards goal and excellently crossed the ball for Zubkov to tap the ball into the net. But Sudakov would then go on to score himself, with a lovely effort. Sudakov played a clever one-two pass with a team-mate, Sudakov then skilfully skipped past a tackle challenge by the Young Boys defender, ran towards goal and then unleashed a lovely strike from outside the area, that found the back of the net at the far post. The Young Boys keeper Keller had little chance in keeping that effort out and Sudakov's goal would prove to be the winning goal for Shakhtar Donetsk. In a country where the war is still ongoing and Ukrainian clubs do not have the luxury of playing on their home ground, a win like Shakhtar just had is a real achievement. It was also good to see that Shakhtar played well with a team mainly comprised of young Ukrainians, namely 8 in the starting line-up, which bodes well for football in the country.

Brighton have been the better side so far to be honest. Liverpool need to get their act together. There's plenty of time yet in this match, but they have to show more improvement in the 2nd half. A win today for Liverpool would be a huge boost for them in the league table standings. -

Arsenal lost today, while both Man City and Liverpool are also losing right now by a goal to nil. It doesn't seem like a good day for the title favourites. I am slightly surprised by Liverpool losing though, as they are the only side, out of them, Arsenal and Man City that are playing at home today. I know Brighton are a tough side, but Liverpool have the superior players and with them playing at home, you'd definitely think that Liverpool would win or at least draw. -

Barcelona have been incredible this season. They thrashed both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich in the space of 4 days this week, and they are arguably the 2 best teams in Europe. Hansi Flick has Barcelona playing some incredible football and Lewandowski is banging them in again this season. Barcelona 4-1 Bayern Munich Real Madrid 0-4 Barcelona -
I expect Leverkusen to beat Brest away from home in France, even if Leverkusen have rested many of their key players for this match. It's currently 1-1 at half-time and to be fair Leverkusen have dominated most of the 1st half. Leverkusen took the lead through star man Wirtz in the 24th minute, but Brest equalised later in the half in the 39th minute. Leverkusen should get the win in the 2nd half and gain some precious points. In the other Champions League match currently going on, Celtic have done well to hold Atalanta to a 0-0 draw at half-time in Bergamo. The Italians had the better of the 1st half, but if Celtic can get a draw and gain a point in this match, it would be a great achievement for them.

Yeah, that was a bad move by Sahin. Dortmund should have kept Gittens on, there was no real reason to bring off a creative player like Gittens in the 54th minute, when Dortmund were leading 2-0. By going more defensive, they invited Real Madrid to attack more and unfortunately for Dortmund, Real Madrid would end up winning. I don't really rate Sahin as a manager. I think that Dortmund need a more experienced manager, because Dortmund have so much potential with the quality players that they have in their squad. Dortmund should be doing much better than they have so far this season.

Not only did Stuttgart win away to Juventus, they also totally dominated the match. It's great to see Stuttgart playing such beautiful football and dominating one of Italy's best teams in Turin. Demirovic was unlucky not to score in the 1st half, when his thunderous strike hit the inside of the post, but didn't cross the goal line. Juve keeper Perrin was the Italian sides best player on the night, he made excellent saves. His first impressive save was when he tipped an accurate close range Undav header over the bar. Perrin also superbly saved to concede a corner from a powerful Demirovic shot that was heading towards the top hand corner of the net. Perrin went on to excellently save an effort from Enzo Millot in the 61st minute, as Millot's accurate shot was heading towards the bottom hand corner of the net. Perrin would also go on to save brilliantly from a well struck Millot penalty in the 85th minute of the match, at which point Stuttgart may have thought their chance of winning the match was running out. Not only did Perrin save Millot's penalty, but Undav was unlucky to see an excellent strike that hit the back of the net, chalked off for offside, after Stuttgart had thought they had taken the lead. But ultimately justice would play out, as Stuttgart substitute El Bilal Toure would score the winning goal for Stuttgart in injury time. Toure played a lovely one-two pass with Millot, as Toure then burst into the penalty area and smashed the ball past Perrin and into the net. It was a great end to what was an exhilarating and impressive performance from Stuttgart. This is easily Stuttgart's strongest team since Stuttgart's Bundesliga winning team of the 2006/07 season. It's also great to see that Stuttgart appear to now have 3 top class strikers. Demirovic and Undav have proven themselves to be top class forwards who score goals on a regular basis, while young El Bilal Toure, seems to be finally living up to his potential as a lethal forward, a potential that saw Atalanta break their transfer record, by splashing out €30 million to buy him in the summer of 2023. Stuttgart have an option to buy the on-loan Toure permanently from Atalanta at the end of the season, for around €18 million. There is little doubt that Stuttgart will pay that very reasonable transfer fee, to get Toure on board on a long term contract. Stuttgart also have the young Woltemade as their fourth striker option, which just shows how healthy Stuttgart are in attack. This is a lovely Stuttgart side to watch, and their attacking threat will always make them a danger to play against, even when they take on the elite sides.

Scottish striker Fraser Hornby scored to give Darmstadt an early lead against Koln. The ball was passed to Hornby in the area and Hornby swivelled and shot the ball into the bottom hand corner of the net. However, Lemperle equalised for Koln in the 38th minute, as he slotted a low cross to him into the net from close range. But just 2 minutes later, Darmstadt would retake the lead and it was Hornby who would score his and Darmstadt's 2nd goal. Swedish striker Lidberg ran with the ball on the counter attack down the right flank, he made his way into the penalty area and he then crossed low for the onrushing Hornby who slotted the ball into the net. So at half-time it's Darmstadt 2-1 Koln and Scottish forward Fraser Hornby will be looking to score again in the 2nd half to complete his hattrick. Darmstadt 2-1 Koln -

Scotland did well to hold a dominant Portugal to a 0-0 draw at Hampden Park. Cristiano Ronaldo was not happy with the officiating though, and he made his feelings felt at full-time. Scotland 0-0 Portugal -
In the last match day of Asian World Cup qualifiers, there were some interesting results. In Group A, Qatar beat Kyrgyzstan 3-1. Almoez Ali would give Qatar the lead in the 1st half, then an own goal in the 2nd half by Kozubaev would extend Qatar's lead to 2-0. However, the Kyrgyz side would pull a goal back through Shukurov. But any chance of a potential equaliser were put to bed when Al Hassan went on to score Qatar's 3rd goal to make it 3-1. Qatar 3-1 Kyrgyzstan Uzbekistan and Iran would play out a 0-0 draw in Tashkent, a point which probably suited both sides at this stage, since both are now top of their group on 7 points. Uzbekistan 0-0 Iran In the last game in this group, the UAE drew 1-1 with North Korea. Al-Ghassani would give the UAE the lead in the 66th minute, but North Korea would equalise late in the match in the 86th minute through Jong. UAE 1-1 North Korea In Group B, Oman would thrash Kuwait 4-0. Al-Mushaifri gave Oman an early lead, as he slotted the ball home after a clever one two pass with his team mate. Muhsen Al-Ghassani would score Oman's 2nd goal with an accurate header into the corner of the net. In the 2nd half, Al-Mushaifri scored his 2nd goal and Oman's 3rd goal, as he met a cut back cross and swerved to shoot it into the far corner of the Kuwaiti net. Oman would add their 4th goal as the onrushing Fawaz would smack a cross into the net from close range to complete the rout for Oman. It was a very impressive performance by Oman, who thrashed a Kuwaiti side that had previously drawn with Iraq and Jordan. This was Kuwait's first loss in the group and they got torn apart by the Omanis. Oman 4-0 Kuwait In another match in this group, South Korea beat a plucky Jordanian team 2-0. Jordan pressured the South Koreans on many occasions with their attacks, especially from the wings, but Koreans showed their quality as they were clinical and dangerous themselves with their chances. Jae-sung gave South Korea the lead in 38th minute with an accurate close range header and in the 2nd half, Hyeon-gyu would make it 2-0 to South Korea, as he cut inside and unleashed an accurate shot into the corner of the net. This win extended South Korea's lead at the top of the table. Korea were without their star player Son Heung-min for this match, but they still showed their quality to carve out the win. It was sweet revenge for South Korea, as the Jordanians had knocked them out of the Asian Cup earlier this year, but the Koreans got their own back in this match. Jordan 0-2 South Korea In the last match in this group, a dominant Iraq would beat Palestine 1-0. Aymen Hussein scored Iraq's only goal as he cut inside and slotted a shot into the far corner of the net. Iraq dominated and created many chances, but they only had the one goal from Hussein to show for it. Iraq 1-0 Palestine In Group C, Australia beat China 3-1, in an important win from them, albeit against an underperforming China side, who have lost all 3 group matches so far and who have a goal difference of -10 after these 3 matches. Australia were dominant from the start, but China took a shock lead in the 1st half with a clinical finish on the counter attack. However, Australia would equalise just before half-time through Miller. Australia would then score further goals in the 2nd half through a long range cracker from Goodwin and a neat goal from Velupillay. That gave Australia a 3-1 lead and that's how the match would finish in a convincing win for the Aussies. Australia 3-1 China In another match in Group C, Bahrain would draw 2-2 against a much improved Indonesian national team. Bahrain would take an early lead from a free-kick goal through their player Marhoon, but Indonesia would then equalise through Oratmangoen just before half-time. In the 2nd half, Indonesia would actually take the lead, as Struick netter their 2nd goal. However, Marhoon would score his and Bahrain's 2nd goal deep into injury time to equalise. Bahrain 2-2 Indonesia In the final match of the group, Japan beat Saudi Arabia 2-0 in a big win for them. Kamada gave Japan the lead in the 1st half and then Ogawa would score Japan's 2nd goal late in the match. It was an impressive performance by the Japanese as they looked clinical and they played some very good technical football. Saudi Arabia 0-2 Japan
